Irreligion In America Today: A Mormon Speaks
Two weeks ago I would never have thought I would be advertising a title to a MN Dennis Prager Discussion Group meeting: Irreligion In America Today: A Mormon Speaks.
It’s not the “Irreligion” part. We conservatives discuss that frequently….It’s the Mormon Speaks part!
Do Mormons actually speak?
Well, yes, sort of. My candidate of choice for President in 2008 was Mitt Romney. We couldn’t help but know he was a Mormon. The press suggested it was disease like. Mr. Romney ran as an American…He spoke American as an American. He was neatly dressed, spoke well, carried himself with poise, seemed very bright, and looked smart, although ran a poor campaign from the very start. Except for that last phrase, I could pick the Mormon out of that crowd with 50 Democrat candidates tacked on, any day.
But, again. Do Mormons actually speak? Publicly, I mean..You know, as Mormons? I don’t mean evangelizing. I mean speaking in public as a Mormon about American matters? Sure, in Utah, no doubt. But there it’s kind of like the choir preaching to the choir. Utah is where the opponents to the recent traditional marriage amendment in California wanted Mormons to be quaranteened. It seems the folks who allegedly “bow” to Utah gave a lot of money to defend marriage as a union between man and woman. The chutzpah of it all…or have I mixed minorities! Right here in America! Trouble…Trouble…Trouble…right here in America! Trouble…Trouble…
Then, two weeks ago, I inherited a YouTube video. It was sent to me modestly. “Just thought you might like to see this”…she emailed. She emailed right. I was very, very moved by these few minutes of beautiful words made from a thinking American, a thoughtful American worried about the future as an American about America!
Till that moment, Mormons to me, meant: The most loyal conservative group in America…The most loyal Americans to things American in America who look and dress and talk as if they like and are proud of who they are! How UnAmerican in these, our twilight years celebrated with joyous self Left Wing flagellations. How UnAmerican!….Just the kind of people we conservatives have got to know better.
In the West a month or two ago, many temples were violated by Left Wing fanatics. People threatened. Property damaged. Millions of Mormons could have shouted the songs of so many favorites bribed by the Democratic Party who love to call their country a huge concentration camp run by homophobes, sexists, racists, and xenophobes. Bigots all, unworthy of freedoms.
Mormons deserve to be known better in America. On Thursday, April 09, 2009 our monthly Prager Discussion Group Meeting will be held in the Minnetonka Room at the Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd from 7 till 9 PM. For further details check with Events, and most of all:

Ezra Levant Comes To Patriot Radio
Some people have more courage than others. We are challenged to show courage every day of our adult lives. The vast majority of us turn our backs and pretend courage wouldn’t have mattered anyway. Some of us demonstrate great courage and lose the battle, and some lose an entire war. Yet, some folks are real adults. They recognize tyranny when they see tyranny. They know classsic good from classic evil. Courage rises in their corpuscles. They know the enemy when they see the enemy.
Such a person is Ezra Levant.
I’d like to claim he is a fellow American. Alas, his heroism is foreign. He is from the socialist ice sheet located north of us called, Canada, our neighbor basking in its new religion, State Socialism. All flakes are equal in this modern version of English bred socialism. In State Socialist worlds everywhere, some flakes are bigger than others. Yet, they need to be protected by Human Rights Commissions. There are several such bureaucracies throughout the Canadian provinces, and one big human rights bureaucracy to cover the entire ice sheet. They watch out for human rights violations.
We have Human Rights organizations here at home as well. Ours are fledglings, but have a bundle of money and make a lot of noise exercising their right to threaten violence and spew hate against the rights of those who bear differing opinions. They seek State status so they can sue folks like Mr. Levant and jail them. A very large ear of our new President is hearing the cause favorably. It’s the left ear in case you are wondering.
Mr. Levant used to be the publisher of The Western Standard, out of Edmonton, Alberta. I presume his slant was that of a conservative. Remember, western Canada has a population which pretty much talks like Americans, thinks like Americans, dresses like Americans, writes like Americans and drives like Americans: Americans who live in Wyoming and Idaho, that is.
With the exception of an imam who thinks and acts quite differently. Mr. Iman did not like an article published in the Western Standard. It is not clear if Mr. Imam had read the article. Mr. Imam was offended and filed his complaint with the Alberta Human Rights Commission against the magazine’s publisher, Ezra Levant.
Canadian Human Rights Commissions were created by the Left Wing of the Canadian Parliament to operate OUTSIDE OF THE COURT SYSTEM, but to possess powers of review and punishment; punishment including fines and imprisonments if the Hearing Review person deems the accused guilty of offending the accuser. Hearings are not public!!
Never forget that the Modern Left Wing Movement in any country, this century or last, prefers stealth over anything democratic to achieve its goal…Power over Wealth in order to Run People’s Lives. Their disciples hide their work from the public. With the glaring exception of Barrack Hussein Obama.
Mr. Levant lost his publication, gathered his resources and his wits and fought for human rights against the Canadian Human Rights Commissions. He truly is a hero..He committed stealth himself, I admit. I hope everyone who understands English will find the product of his stealth, his video of Commission hearings.. Against the rules, in the name of human rights, against the Alberta Human Rights Commission’s privacy policy, Mr. Levant videoed his visits with the Commissioner who would decide his own human rights…
.Google, Ezra Levant, You Tube, Alberta Human Rights Commission to see Canada’s defender of Human Rights in action.
She did appear uncomfortable asking question like…”What were your thoughts when you wrote” ….this and then that sentence in the Standard about …and, if my memory serves me correctly, the article had something to do with Muslim violence in Edmonton!
There you go, folks. Modern America in Western Canada.
However, Mr. Levant wasn’t alone in the modern difficulty with this Canadian democracy for some, but not for others. One of this blogsite”s booklist for Prager fans to read is the book, “America Alone”, by very well known “American” conservative talk show host and writer, Mark Steyn. Several chapters of this very book have come under attack by other Muslim individuals and groups. They want at least a pound of flesh from our Mark. Visit Mark Steyn on Line for his experiences with Canadian Human Rights.
The Northern Alliance people will be interviewing Ezra Levant about his new book, “Shakedown”, which reportedly is a review of this entire battle. Again, next Saturday March 22, on 1280 Patriot radio, some time between 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
