Freedom of Speech and the Marxist Compliance with Jihadists in Holland and America

In my fifth grade class at Horace Mann Elementary School in St. Paul,  a favorite teacher, Mable Ryple read “Snow Treasure” to our class.  I might be mistaken  on the precise title of the book, but I remember the details of the story, for from it, I developed a long standing affection for the country central to this “Treasure.”………Norway. 

My grade school years were the war years….the  real war years…..fortunately something not revisited to American culture since. 

Norway was occupied by the Nazis from 1940 till the end of the war.  It was not a harsh occupation, but occupation, nevertheless.  Kids there,  about my same fifth grade age were smuggling gold bullion from the highlands to the coast, sliding down treacherous geography and past Germans alike on their sleds.  Moreover, a few years earlier, my workbook, “If I Were Going,” forced me to read a story about a Norwegian family farming in the uplands high above the fjords.    I have loved the idea of Norway ever since. 

Skater, Hans Brinker, was made an early  hero of mine, as well.  He was Dutch.  By third grade I could already draw the map of Europe, including the expanded territory claimed by Nazi Germany, by heart…..and knew all, yes all, of the European capitals.  Sorry, folks, but that was the way it was.  I couldn’t manage novels, but I sure could read about real people and real places. 

The Netherlands suffered more from Nazi occupation than did the Norskies.  I even knew that at the time.  Rotterdam was severely bombed in 1940.   And there was always good reading about the Zuider Zee and the dikes keeping out the North Sea so the Dutch could grow their tulips.  I already worried about bulbs…My mother planted them. 

 To this day, I have had more than a commoner’s interest in these two nations….yet, of the many times I have been to Europe, I have never stood on either soil.   

I had grown contemptuous of modern Dutch culture…..mostly the moral decay from  its worship of drugs, both the carnal and those ingested.  I would boycott Holland…and did!   Yet, by habit since early grade school, I kept abreast of politics in the Netherlands, hoping that some day, this country of my childhood romances, would straighten itself out.

Then came the Muslim invasions of Western Europe.  Not that I have anything against someone’s personal relationship with their religion, but a primary devotion of mine, also formed from the days of World War II, is the survival and strengthening of democracy among mankind…..freedom!

As of today,  aggressive Islam has declared war against our Western democracies……even the  shams called  socialist democracies of western Europe.     These socialists…almost everywhere the ELITE, the ruling class….the university types, the wealthy patroons, through their censorship rules of political correctness,  abet these barbarians against free, civilized life, through appeasement, censorship, and imprisonment.    Like Socialists everywhere, these Marxists play the game of “Let’s Pretend!”  The look for votes, not justice.

But, God bless Holland!  There is a breath of fresh air still hovering over these Lowlands.   Questioning minds  are now asking  about the invasion from the exploding populations of the Middle East.   The Dutch have noticed that these noisier  newbies don’t have much interest in tolerance.    They are dragging their tyrannies with them.  Some who have criticized this invasion have been murdered.

Dutch lefties claim the murdered would not have been killed if the deceased would have kept their mouths shut…..had they not offended these victims  from the East.   “Oh, not that they deserved to be murdered,” the universal modern Marxist would clarify, but “they should have been more tolerant.”

Such victimhood attitudes are rank  in America among its Left as well.   Our American Democrat Party constituency is based on building victimhood hates against fellow Americans.  E Pluribus Unum is out of fashion with the Democrat Party and its judicial allies.  So is some freedom of speech…..and perhaps even private enterprise.

Geert Wilders is Dutch.   He is not the first patriot of that country to question its survival.  A few years ago, a very popular leader, Pim Fortuyn, one concerned for the country’s democratic future, expected to become Prime Minister of the country was murdered for voicing complaints “against Muslims for political gain”.   He had considered Islam extremism a threat to the country’s traditions.

About a year ago Geert Wilders was banned from entering United Kingdom territory by Home Secretary, Jaqui Smith, claiming he was a threat to community harmony for producing his film, “Fitna”   http://www.break.com/usercontent/2008/4/Fitna-new-English-Version-485249.html   a  brief review of  modern Islamist Jihad on its murderous  prowl against the West.   Mr. Wilders had been invited by members of the House of Lords to show the film.   Eventually, the ban was reversed.   

The Leftwing establishment  in Holland  panders politically to that country’s  Muslim immigrant hostiles in the same manner as our Democrat Party does here in our country through its cultural rules articulated by political correctness speech codes.  It is important for Americans to know that  the Obama Democrat Party is much more closely aligned to European Marxist style and substance of politics  than to American traditions. 

The socialist Dutch constitution in Article 1 asserts freedom of speech.  Yet, Article 7 in the same constitution forbids discrimination on basis of religion, life principles, political inclination, race, or sexual preference. 

Americans should know Marxism is a world-wide political and religious movement. 

Last week I blogged on to sites covering the Geert Wilders trial drama for Prager readers to follow.  To one of the articles, a link from an unknown  blogsite sympathetic to Mr. Wilders dilemma in the Netherlands was added as commentary to the article. 

“This is a blog and a gathering place for all who are opposed to Geert Wilders’ prosecution under Dutch law, for the apparent crime of criticising Islam,”  it announced. 

The following comments attributed to Geerts Wilders,  also appeared at the site:

“The last time I checked, religion was not able to dictate the terms of an entire country’s speech – there is something incredibly dangerous in the precedent that this sets.”

Regardless of whether or not you agree with Geert’s criticisms of Islam, the issue is much larger than that. Blasphemy laws, and religious chills upon freedom of speech need to be put to an end.

“Islam is the Trojan Horse in Europe. If we do not stop Islamification now, Eurabia and Netherabia will just be a matter of time. One century ago, there were approximately 50 Muslims in the Netherlands. Today, there are about 1 million Muslims in this country. Where will it end? We are heading for the end of European and Dutch civilisation as we know it. Where is our Prime Minister in all this?”

In reply to my questions in the House he (Mr. Wilders) said, without batting an eyelid, that “there is no question of our country being Islamified. Now, this reply constituted a historical error as soon as it was uttered. Very many Dutch citizens, Madam Speaker, experience the presence of Islam around them. And I can report that they have had enough of burkas, headscarves, the ritual slaughter of animals, so‑called honour revenge, blaring minarets, female circumcision, hymen restoration operations, abuse of homosexuals, Turkish and Arabic on the buses and trains as well as on town hall leaflets, halal meat at grocery shops and department stores, Sharia exams, the Finance Minister’s Sharia mortgages, and the enormous overrepresentation of Muslims in the area of crime, including Moroccan street terrorists.”

Mr. Wilders is primarily on trial for his film, “Fitna”…..However, his public utterances are being used at the trial as well.   He is being tried for “group insult” after all.

Democrats have been pushing for “hate speech” laws all over America.  Their leaders in Congress have also toyed with the idea of limiting speech “for the common good”. 

Marxism is an international religion.  In practice there is not much concern for morality in it.  Try not to forget that when you review president Obama’s present attempt to take over the nation’s health industry, and the tactics Democrats have used to bribe for votes to enact it into law.
