New York Daily News: “Tea Party Activism Is Not About Political Dissent- It’s About Vile, Storm Trooper Sound Bites!”

The following article appeared in New York City’s Leftwing Democrat Party newspaper, The Daily News, this morning.  It was written by Mike Lupica.

“We are 100 yards, no more than that, from the front entrance to the school. There is a stop sign here, and underneath the word “Stop” someone has spray-painted “Obama.”

Stop Obama.

Why has somebody done it? Because in the current climate, people have been convinced they can. Or, more likely, that they should.

My son is in the seat next to me in the car. He says, “This isn’t the only one. There are others in different parts of town.”

At least here it is only vandalism about this President and the country’s new health care bill, not phone threats left for some members of Congress. It is not an honorable old hero of the civil rights movement like Rep. John Lewis hearing the kind of racial insults he heard nearly 50 years ago in America. Or other congressmen being spat upon, all in the name of democracy at work.

At least here it is not Rep. Bart Stupak, a Democrat from Michigan, being called a “baby killer,” or a brick through a lawmaker’s window. It is not Sarah Palin on her Twitter page – this woman who officially puts the twit in Twitter – posting the following message:

“Commonsense Conservatives & lovers of America: Don’t Retreat, Instead – RELOAD.”

As always, you wonder where this patriotism and righteousness and Tea Party activism was during Bush-Cheney. You wonder if all the people who want to take to the streets – and to the television cameras now – decided they weren’t needed for eight years because they thought the country was going so good. Or maybe they have just convinced themselves that the Obama who must now be stopped didn’t just inherit this America, he created it.

This is no longer about political dissent. It is about storm trooper sound bites, and hate. This isn’t the kind of honest debate on which our system of government has been built. It is vile, back-alley fighting, getting worse by the day, with no end in sight. People say that opposition to all Presidents, even the most unpopular white ones, sounds like this. No, it doesn’t.

“It’s so good to be here for the showdown in Searchlight [Nev.],” Palin says on Saturday. “So proud to be with all you who are proud to be Americans.”

Palin is in Nevada because Sen. Harry Reid is a Democratic candidate she and other lovers of America are “targeting” this November. Of course, the implication, as always, is that anybody on the other side of the debate – about health care or anything else – isn’t nearly as good an American as she is.

Palin is such a fighter and great American that she quit on her stool as governor of Alaska because there was more money to be made in the other 49 states, shouting about death panels and health care and “European socialism” and writing unreadable books. In so many ways, she is a perfect media darling for our times. She doesn’t scrawl graffiti, she thinks.”

Comment:  I don’t know who wrote Obama under the Stop of the stop sign.  Nor do any lefties.  I haven’t seen this graffiti yet, but I am not surprised.  Fads come to Minnesota a bit slower that to New York.  If this is an example of right wing hate and violence with the innuendo that they should be locked up, how many millions of  “Stop Bush” or “Bush sucks” and “Kill Bush”  graffiti  writer should have gone to prison between  January 20, 2001 and January 19, 2009?   Where were the frothing-mouthed newswriters then?

It is my fervent wish that Republicans, especially conservatives will speak and write from evidence upon which that can honestly rely as being dependable…..meaning that if it is written as opinion, there is evidence provided to strengthen the possibility that it is, at least, likely true.

I write what I believe is true.  I realize that I sit here at my computer and make judgments that might be in error.   I try to be as aware as I can be.  I have written this blog for more than a year.   I have not lied.  I don’t like to make mistakes and I rely on my readers to remind me when I do.   On two occasions I have emailed friends a political piece that seemed to be likely true which turned out via Snopes to be a hoax.  I hate being wrong.  It may be ego or ethics…..I don’t know, but I would feel better if it were the latter. 

When I write, I am sharing with my readers what I believe to be true.  I put my name to my writing, because I want to be responsible for my statements of facts and beliefs. 

I believe it is likely that a number of people called Mr. Stupak on the phone and left obscenities.  That is a different environment from the large crowd in open air of identifiable middle class,  middle aged to older white husbands and wives, many even from Minnesota, conservatives who believe in and practice being conservative in politics, religion and conduct, folks who are not boozed  or drugged up, people who own property and pay taxes, who could lose something tangible if or when they might misbehave are likely to behave the same as blacks might  behave when they riot, or the young lefties who are drugged up, don’t pay taxes, are single, university trained gays, feminists or whatever who have been programmed to believe they have been America-wronged and go on a fling to have fun.

There are some far right loony militias, usually numbering in the tens who often spend most of their time drinking and causing themselves discomfort……of that I am fully aware.   There was the Oklahoma bombing……by a  cabal of two or three people.  It is fortunate for the Marxists to have that reference to draw from to excoriate the entire tradition American classes.

And,  it is inherent in the contemporary Democrat Party and its allies in Hollywood and the establishment press to manufacture stories, to concoct and expand to the point of lying, intentionally,  knowingly, to demonize the American conservative.  The above article by Mike Lupica, is an example.

They don’t care if what they write or say is vile…..is my observation.   As it is Dennis Prager’s……Because to be a  Leftist, since religion is not accepted, government become the Left’s god, and no holds thereafter are barred in their war for victory.

Dennis repeats……”the Left never says it is sorry and never has to say it’s sorry” again and again, because  its  devotion to its  god, government does not require honesty.

Democrats Using Lies As A Political Weapon

There are ongoing efforts by those peering out of the fortresses of the Left to fire ever more lies, distortions, subterfuge, sabotage, hate at the American conservative to impress the uncommited among the voting public.  

Personally I judge lying is one of the most evil sins among the human repetoire of behaviors……for it condemns the innocent who maintain the truth as the enemy of truth itself.  

I completely supported the impeachment action against Bill Clinton, and no matter how much I am amused by him,  he should be listed among the most immoral presidents thus far among our 43 who have served this country.  Not because of his affairs.  Not because of his befouling his oaths, his duties, his reponsibilities swapping  his  intellectual for  his carnal, which was disgusting enough, but that he lied to the American people directly and also under oath.  His presidency was blackened….dishonored.   Those who knew the truth and told the truth were blackened and dishonored.

Yet, I did not disagree with the result of the vote that he remain in office.

Although Bill Clinton was caught in this major lie……I never then, nor do I now believe he was a liar.  He was skilled at embellishing when speaking, hiding the truth,  dancing around the truth, avoiding the truth…..often so poetically, he could almost create truth.    But, he was not a person who for whatever reason, would lie……verbally cheat…..nearly every moment of his speaking hour.

I believe Barack Obama is a chronic liar.  He has a Marxist understanding of truth…..there is no truth for everything is relative.  Many lawyers suffer from this affliction as a callous formed through overactivity. 

I also believe telling the truth is much more difficult to maintain in the inner city black community.  I have written on this many times from my own experience.  Sorry, lefities, lying is not an inherited condition, it is learned.  Learning lying  has been a common practice in the plantation culture in which the inner city black lives.   Lying us usually saved for communications with “Whitey”……

The American black in this community is regularly programmed from life  to blame all misfortune on white racism.  The inner city plantation culture relies on racism for its political unity.  It is rewarded handsomely by its Democrat Party overseers.

Is it possible that someone in the Tea Party gathering the other day called out “nigger”?  Yes, it is possible.   But, of course, so what?    But fifteen occasions were counted by the alleged victim….Fifteen niggers where shouted at him. 

Wow, what an assault!   Wow, this grown man must really have suffered.  Did he cry?  Did blood flow?  Or did he simply play the race card?  

If he cries, this man is a fool, a victim of Leftwing propaganda and censorship created for political reasons…..created to fit into the leftwing listings of censorship called political correctness. 

These and other silly words have been cooked up by the left to serve  their own racist agendas to cement together   its victimland constituencies  for political advantage, not only to secure votes, but  also to gain sympathy from the unaware well-meaning public, and money from racist show trials.

Listen carefully to Dennis Prager.  He rests his reputation on relying on truth.  Count the times each week he reminds his listeners, the Leftwing whether in America or anywhere else, today or yesterday, HAS NEVER CARED ABOUT TELLING THE TRUTH….

The left is only interested in gaining power.  It is a religion as devoted to its Allah as the Muslim who has not quite crossed the line into Jihadism.

I have been a close observor of the American political battles since the beginning of my academic life.   Never has America had such a liar as president.  Never has American experience such a foul major nation wide political party as the present Democrat Party.  NEVER.

There has been the crooks in Chicago, Tammany Hall in New York, the Prendergast gangs in Kansas City, the gangsters in New Orleans, and so on and so on, but never has there been such a concerted effort by a major political party, the Democrats, America’s politicized press, their programmed victimhood clubs, the country’s education empires, many of its establishment churches and the leftwing Jewish community to teach and spread so many lies as truth.  And they feel superior for doing so.  They believe they are doing humanity a favor. 

Where did they learn this?  It came out of the Civil Rights Movements, the Black Liberation Groups, the anti Vietnam War rioters, the Gay Rights Groups, and could never have been so successful without the vile feminist movements all of which have swept through America over the past 40 years.

Lying has become their way of life.  They are godless except for their Marxism.  And they have learned their ethics in ethicsless universities. 

Please, conservatives……Speak loudly and clearly about what you believe to be true.  Freedom of speech is mankind’s most precious freedom.  Acknowledge when you discover you are wrong.  But, never be glued to a known lie.  

I believe with all my being this crowd of black Congressmen who walked through crowds yelling “Kill the Bill”, have lied when they claimed they were spat upon and called “nigger”.  The purpose was racist, and I believe intentionally done for the sake of politics.  

Today’s  American leftwing is led by graduates of the American unisverities of spitters, bombers, rioters, racists, saboteurs, kidnappers, bank robbers, murderers, druggies, rapists, atheists and traitors running wild during the American cultural revolution of 1967 to 1981.

At best the lie strategy of the political left is to deflect from the lies held within Obamacare legislation and the impending collapse of the American economy.    At worst it is to castigate and smear an entire population for honestly and honorably exercising its constitutional right and duty to express their truth.

HEALTH CARE MANDATES

EXPIRATION DATE: On March 23, 2010, Obama signed the individual mandate into law.

HEALTH CARE NEGOTIATIONS ON C-SPAN

STATEMENT: “These negotiations will be on C-SPAN, and so the public will be part of the conversation and will see the decisions that are being made.” January 20, 2008, and seven other times.

EXPIRATION DATE: Throughout the summer, fall, and winter of 2009 and 2010; when John McCain asked about it during the health care summit February 26, Obama dismissed the issue by declaring, “the campaign is over, John.”

STATEMENT: “No family making less than $250,000 will see any form of tax increase.” (multiple times on the campaign trail)

EXPIRATION DATE: The above statement actually was the expiration date for his previous position, “I actually think we should explore nuclear power as part of the energy mix,” expressed on July 23, 2007; the above statement expired when he told Democratic governors he thought it is “worth investigating its further development” on June 20, 2008.

NAFTA

STATEMENT:  Tim Russert:: Senator Obama . . .  Simple question: Will you, as president, say to Canada and Mexico, “This has not worked for us; we are out”?

Obama: “I will make sure that we renegotiate, in the same way that Senator Clinton talked about. And I think actually Senator Clinton’s answer on this one is right. I think we should use the hammer of a potential opt-out as leverage to ensure that we actually get labor and environmental standards that are enforced. And that is not what has been happening so far.” February 23, 2008

EXPIRATION DATE:  June 18, 2008, Fortune magazine: “Sometimes during campaigns the rhetoric gets overheated and amplified,” he conceded, after I reminded him that he had called NAFTA “devastating” and “a big mistake,” despite nonpartisan studies concluding that the trade zone has had a mild, positive effect on the U.S. economy.

Does that mean his rhetoric was overheated and amplified? “Politicians are always guilty of that, and I don’t exempt myself,” he answered.

PUBLIC FINANCING

STATEMENT: “If I am the Democratic nominee, I will aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election.” Also, a Common Cause questionnaire dated November 27, 2007, asked “If you are nominated for President in 2008 and your major opponents agree to forgo private funding in the general election campaign, will you participate in the presidential public financing system?”, Obama checked, “Yes.”

EXPIRATION DATE: June 19, 2008: Obama announced he would not participate in the presidential public financing system.

WORKING OUT A DEAL ON PUBLIC FINANCING

STATEMENT: “What I’ve said is, at the point where I’m the nominee, at the point where it’s appropriate, I will sit down with John McCain and make sure that we have a system that works for everybody.”Obama to Tim Russert, Febuary 27.

EXPIRATION DATE: When Obama announced his decision to break his public financing pledge June 19, no meeting between the Democratic nominee and McCain had occurred.

Mayor Ed Koch Writes: “Obama’s Treatment of Israel is Shocking”

I have always liked Ed Koch.  I liked him while he was mayor of New York City.  I didn’t mind him being a Democrat, because like nearly everyone in the country then, we were all Americans.

No one then would dream of being a Marxist Democrat supporting Obama lining  his adminstration up to take shots at Israel.

I know Mayor Koch loved New York City and America.  I especially liked his sense of humor and the way he put his words together.  He seemed he could be trusted.   Unlike president  Obama I don’t remember the mayor being malicious and revengeful.

I respect Mr. Koch’s loyalty to fellow demcrats living in Israel.  Every American who believes in democracy should radiate the same loyalty.  It is truly unfortunate that the present American president’s religion will not allow him to see what is missing in his politics toward both democracies, Israel’s and our own….a faith in democracy and free enterprise and disdain for micromanaging dictatorships.

Obama’s Treatment of Israel is Shocking

President Obama’s abysmal attitude toward the State of Israel and his humiliating treatment of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is shocking. In the Washington Post on March 24th, Jackson Diehl wrote, “Obama has added more poison to a U.S.-Israeli relationship that already was at its lowest point in two decades. Tuesday night the White House refused to allow non-official photographers record the president’s meeting with Netanyahu; no statement was issued afterward. Netanyahu is being treated as if he were an unsavory Third World dictator, needed for strategic reasons but conspicuously held at arms length. That is something the rest of the world will be quick to notice and respond to.”

I have not heard or read statements criticizing the president by New York Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand or many other supporters of Israel for his blatantly hostile attitude toward Israel and his discourtesy displayed at the White House. President Obama orchestrated the hostile statements of Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, voiced by Biden in Israel and by Clinton in a 43-minute telephone call to Bibi Netanyahu, and then invited the latter to the White House to further berate him. He then left Prime Minister Netanyahu to have dinner at the White House with his family, conveying he would only be available to meet again if Netanyahu had further information – read concessions – to impart.

It is unimaginable that the President would treat any of our NATO allies, large or small, in such a degrading fashion. That there are policy differences between the U.S. and the Netanyahu government is no excuse. Allies often disagree, but remain respectful.

In portraying Israel as the cause of the lack of progress in the peace process, President Obama ignores the numerous offers and concessions that Israel has made over the years for the sake of peace, and the Palestinians’ repeated rejections of those offers. Not only have Israel’s peace proposals, which include ceding virtually the entire West Bank and parts of Jerusalem to the Palestinians, been rejected, but each Israeli concession has been met with even greater demands, no reciprocity, and frequently horrific violence directed at Israeli civilians. Thus, Prime Minister Netanyahu’s agreement to suspend construction on the West Bank – a move heralded by Secretary of State Clinton as unprecedented by an Israeli government – has now led to a demand that Israel also halt all construction in East Jerusalem, which is part of Israel’s capital. Meanwhile, Palestinians are upping the ante, with violent protests in Jerusalem and elsewhere. And the Obama administration’s request that our Arab allies make some conciliatory gesture towards Israel has fallen on deaf ears.

Prior American presidents, beginning with Truman who recognized the State of Israel in 1948, have valued Israel as a close ally and have often come to its rescue. For example, it was Richard Nixon during the 1973 war, who resupplied Israel with arms, making it possible for it to snatch victory from a potentially devastating defeat at the hands of a coalition of Arab countries including Egypt and Syria.

President George W. Bush made it a point of protecting Israel at the United Nations and the Security Council wielding the U.S. veto against the unfair actions and sanctions that Arab countries sought to impose to cripple and, if possible, destroy, the one Jewish nation in the world. Now, in my opinion, based on the actions and statements by President Obama and members of his administration, there is grave doubt among supporters of Israel that President Obama can be counted on to do what presidents before him did – protect our ally, Israel. The Arabs can lose countless wars and still come back because of their numbers. If Israel were to lose one, it would cease to exist.

To its credit, Congress, according to the Daily News, has acted differently towards Prime Minister Netanyahu than President Obama. Reporter Richard Sisk wrote on March 24th, “Congress put on a rare show of bipartisanship for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday – a sharp contrast to his chilly reception at the White House. ‘We in Congress stand by Israel,’ House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told a beaming Netanyahu, who has refused to budge on White House and State Department demands to freeze settlements in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.”

But Congress does not make foreign policy. It can prevent military arms from going to Israel, but cannot send them. Congress has no role in determining U.S. policy at the U.N. Security Council. The President of the United States determines our foreign policy – nearly unilaterally – under our Constitution. So those Congressional bipartisan wishes of support, while welcome, will not protect Israel in these areas, only the President can do that. Based on his actions to date, I have serious doubts.

In the 1930s, the Jewish community and its leadership, with few exceptions, were silent when their coreligionists were being attacked, hunted down, incarcerated and slaughtered. Ultimately 6 million Jews were exterminated in the Holocaust. The feeling in the U.S. apparently was that Jews who criticized our country’s actions and inactions that endangered the lives of other Jews would be considered disloyal, unpatriotic and displaying dual loyalty, so many Jews stayed mute. Never again should we allow that to occur. We have every right to be concerned about the fate of the only Jewish nation in the world, which if it had existed during the 1930s and thereafter, would have given sanctuary to any Jew escaping the Nazi holocaust and taken whatever military action it could to save Jews not yet in the clutches of the Nazis. We who have learned the lessons of silence, Jews and Christians alike, must speak up now before it is too late.

So I ask again, where are our Senators, Schumer and Gillibrand? And, where are the voices, not only of the 31 members of the House and 14 Senators who are Jewish, but the Christian members of the House and Senate who support the State of Israel? Where are the peoples’ voices? Remember the words of Pastor Niemoller, so familiar that I will not recite them, except for the last line, “Then they came for me, and by that time, there was no one left to speak up.”

Supporters of Israel who gave their votes to candidate Obama – 78 percent of the Jewish community did – believing he would provide the same support as John McCain, this is the time to speak out and tell the President of your disappointment in him. It seems to me particularly appropriate to do so on the eve of the Passover. It is one thing to disagree with certain policies of the Israeli government. It is quite another to treat Israel and its prime minister as pariahs, which only emboldens Israel’s enemies and makes the prospect of peace even more remote.

“Because We Have the Power” Obama’s Dems Trumpet in Honduras As Well As At Home

We haven’t heard much about Honduras lately.   Remember that was the struggling Democracy in Central America which was trying to survive a coup d’ etat of Hugo Chavez Marxists supported by Marxist American president, Barack Hussein Obama.  

Do you remember that bit of history less than a year ago?  The Marxist devotees, Obama and Chavez  had traded books.  Their common enemy was democracy and free enterprise.  American Democrats and Erik Paulsen rallied behind Manuel Zelaya demanding the heroic democrats in Honduras return the conspiring, corrupt stooge of Chavez to the little country’s presidency  back to where he was doing his  Chavez politics to elevated himself to dictator for life.   Remember?

Obama and Hillary had initially given Zelaya and Chavez their whole-hearted support……Have you forgotten?   They encouraged the Oranization of American States and the United Nations to do the same.   Remember?

I, in my amateur way, decided to go to Honduras to see what was going on…..just ten days there.. ….but sometimes professionals don’t tell the truth….especially if they are politicians.   They have different agendas.   This amateur  was thrilling to see a country determined to defend its right to be ruled by law, not by dictators.  

Fans of the American Democrat Party don’t quite understand the difference between the two under Obamarule.

Mary Anastasia O’Grady writes about an Obama agenda in today’s Wall Street Journal.

“Last year, the U.S. tried to force the reinstatement of deposed president Manuel Zelaya.  When that failed and Team Obama was looking like the Keystone Cops, it sent a delegation to Tegucigalpa to negotiate a compromise.

Participants in those talks say Dan Restrepo, senior director for Western Hemisphere affairs at the National Security Council, let slip that the U. S. interest had to do with American politics.  The Republicans, he said, were using the administration’s support for Mr. Zelaya, an ally of Venezuelan Hugo Chavez, against the Democrats.  It’s not going to work, Mr. Restrepo is said to have informed the other negotiators, because “we have the power” and would be keeping it for a long time.

It can’t have been comforting for Hondurans to learn that while their country was living a monumental crisis, fueled by U.S. policy, Mr Restrepo’s concern was his party’s power.  For the record, an NSC spokesman says “Mr. Restrepo didn’t say that.”  But my sources are more plausible considering what has transpired since.

Four months after a presidential election, reports from Honduras suggest the Obama administration remains obsessed with repairing its foreign-policy image by regaining the upper hand.  The display of raw colonialist hubris is so pronounced that locals now refer to U.S. ambassador Hugo Llorens as “the proconsul”.

Washington’s bullying is two-pronged.  First is a maniacal determination to punish those involved in removing Mr. Zelaya.  Second is an attempt to force Honduras to allow Mr. Zelaya, who now lives in the Dominican Republic, to return without facing any repercussions for the illegal actions that provoked his removal.  Both goals are damaging the bilateral relationship, polarizing the nation and raising the risk of a resurgence of political violence.

People familiar with events leading up to Mr. Zelaya’s arrest on June 28 say that had the U.S. ambassador not worked behind the scenes to block a congressional vote to remove the president a few days earlier, the dramatic deportation (of Zelays) would never have happened.

…..Honduras had defied Uncle Sam and the U.S., led by Mr. Llorens, decided that it had  to be taught a lesson.  It took out the brass knuckles and tried hard to unseat interim president Roberto Micheletti in the interest of restoring Mr. Zelaya to the office.

Honduras wouldn’t budge.  That’s when Mr. Restrepo traveled to the capital with a U.S. delegation.  The agreement reached included U.S.recognition of the November election.  For a time it seeemed things might return to normal.

But the Americans had scores to settle.  The U.S. had already yanked dozens of visas from officials and the business community as punishment for noncompliance with its pro-Zelaya policy.  Then, just days before President Porfirio Lobo’s inauguration in January, Hondurans estimate it pulled at least 50 more from Micheletti supporters.  The visas have not been returned, and locals say Mr. Llorens continues to foster a climate of intimidation with his visa-pulling power…..

In early March he organized a meeting of Liberal Party Zelaya supporters and the party’s former presidential candidate, Elvin Santos, at the U. S. Embassy.  Some 48 hours later the party’s zelayistas and its Santos faction voted to remove Mr. Micheletti as party head.  Rigoberto Espinal Irias, a legal adviser to the independent public prosecutor’s office, complained that the “meeting generated much bad feeling in Honduran civil society” because it was “perceived to have the purpose of intervening in Honduran national politics.”

Now more trouble is brewing:  Salvadoran President Mauricios Funes, according to press reports, has said that Mr. Lobo made a  promise, in front of Hillary Clinton and Mr. Funes, that Mr. Zelaya could return “without fear of political persecution.”    Mr. Lobo subsequentlyannounced that Mr. Zelaya is free to enter the country.  In exchange, it is expected that foreingn aid  to Honduras will resume.  But the minister of security maintains that if Mr. Zelaya returns he will be arrested.”

Comment:  It is widely rumored and accepted by the fair minded,  that Mr. Obama’s Department of Latin Affairs is in the hands of Fidel Castro fans.  Dennis Prager had interviewed one of them nearly a year ago, Viki Gass.  She lived up to the rumor.

Are You Ready to Pay Obama for What Obama Hath Wrought? You and I Will Have to, and It Will Kill American Business

“Can Obama avert a fiscal catastrophe?”   asks  Editorial Page Editor, Fred Hiatt, and the Washington Post, today.

Well, since the president has caused the one in the making, I had to see what the editor had to say.

“……According to a Congressional Budget Office analysis published last week, Obama’s budget plan has the government spending one-quarter of the national economy (25.2 percent of gross domestic product) 10 years from now, while collecting revenue that’s less than one-fifth (19.6 percent).

Such a gap isn’t sustainable for any country. The United States would have to borrow so much money that in interest alone the government would be spending 4.1 percent of GDP — compared with 1.4 percent this year. Other programs — for defense, for the poor, for national parks, for everything — would be squeezed more and more. The United States would be increasingly at the mercy of China, Saudi Arabia and other lenders.

“I understand why a deficit hawk would be nervous,” Obama told me last July. “I’m nervous about this. And if you talk to my senior advisers, they’ll tell you I’m on them every day about how are we going to make sure that we’re positioning ourselves to take care of this long term.”

But if he’s talking with his advisers, Obama hasn’t begun to prepare Americans for what such positioning will take.

Here’s one measure of the challenge: The president touts health reform in part because it will reduce the deficit — according to the CBO, by $143 billion in the next 10 years.

That sounds pretty good, until you consider that Obama would need the equivalent of 70 additional health bills to undo the $9.8 trillion that his budgets will add to the deficit during the next 10 years, according to the CBO.

(Actually, it would take something like 220 health-care bills of deficit reduction, because the true savings from health care are more like $44 billion, once you subtract $70 billion in premiums that people will pay for long-term-care insurance and $29 billion they will pay into the Social Security trust fund, all of which will have to be paid out later. But either way, it’s a frightening picture.)

What will it take? The government will have to spend less and tax more. The Bush tax cuts should be allowed to expire this year, as the law was written. The gasoline tax should be higher. Retirement ages need to be gradually pushed back. People who don’t need as much help shouldn’t receive full Medicare benefits. And so forth. There are no secrets here.

So what’s the administration’s plan? The president appointed a bipartisan commission last month to study the matter. Until it reports — after the November elections — officials hope to do not much at all. Obama and just about everyone in Congress favor extending the Bush tax cuts for all but the wealthy; that alone will cost $2.5 trillion over the next 10 years.

The truth is almost no politicians are honest about what’s needed. Republicans talk a good game now on deficits but were wildly irresponsible while they were in control. Democrats aren’t about to give them an opening by raising their hands first to propose unpopular spending cuts or tax hikes.

Last summer I asked the president how he could overcome such inertia, given the almost impossible politics of deficit control. He suggested that events might jump-start the politics, when lenders start to fret about the creditworthiness even of the United States.

“I actually think that, sadly, decisions are going to be forced upon us,” he said. “I mean, I think that if we don’t show that we’re serious in some fashion, then I think you’re going to see a reluctance on the part of people who’ve been snapping up Treasurys to keep doing so. . . . And that, in some sense, will — certainly compels me, if I’m being responsible in my office, to push hard on this.”

Obama scrapped and cajoled and persisted, and he got his health-care reform. When he pivots to fiscal reform, as promised, he may look back to health care as the easy one.”

Comment:  And there Obama was last week on television addressing his lemmings, bragging about his government health takeover victory.   Where are the asteroids?   Where is the armageddon?  Where is the sky falling ?   He snottily ridiculed those conservatives worried about what Obama hath wrought. 

Only the Marxists and the cheering crowd screaming their adoration for their  bribing-champion president, didn’t seem to know or care about the disasters lying ahead…….   They had got their pudding……pudding others are going to pay for……That is all that matters to those living on the Democrat Party plantation.
