Knowing Obama’s Harry Reid Better

The following are important moments starring  Senate Majority Leader, Democrat Harry Reid:

Ten Key Reasons for Obama’s Collapse According to the London’s Daily Telegraph

Another  Brit view of our current leader.  Nile Gardiner lists his top ten reasons for this early “Obama fall”:

1. The Obama presidency is out of touch with the American people

In a previous post I noted how the Obama presidency increasingly resembles a modern-day Ancient Régime, extravagant, decaying and out of touch with ordinary Americans. The First Lady’s ill-conceived trip to Spain at a time of widespread economic hardship was symbolic of a White House that barely gives a second thought to public opinion on many issues, and frequently projects a distinctly elitist image. The “let them eat cake” approach didn’t play well over two centuries ago, and it won’t succeed today.

2. Most Americans don’t have confidence in the president’s leadership

This deficit of trust in Obama’s leadership is central to his decline. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll, “nearly six in ten voters say they lack faith in the president to make the right decisions for the country”, and two thirds “say they are disillusioned with or angry about the way the federal government is working.” The poll showed that a staggering 58 per cent of Americans say they do not have confidence in the president’s decision-making, with just 42 per cent saying they do.

3. Obama fails to inspire

In contrast to the soaring rhetoric of his 2004 Convention speech in Boston which succeeded in impressing millions of television viewers at the time, America is no longer inspired by Barack Obama’s flat, monotonous and often dull presidential speeches and statements delivered via teleprompter. From his extraordinarily uninspiring Afghanistan speech at West Point to his flat State of the Union address, President Obama has failed to touch the heart of America. Even Jimmy Carter was more moving.

4. The United States is drowning in debt

The Congressional Budget Office Long-Term Budget Outlook offers a frightening picture of the scale of America’s national debt. Under its alternative fiscal scenario, the CBO projects that US debt could rise to 87 percent of GDP by 2020, 109 percent by 2025, and 185 percent in 2035. While much of Europe, led by Britain and Germany, are aggressively cutting their deficits, the Obama administration is actively growing America’s debt, and has no plan in place to avert a looming Greek-style financial crisis.

5. Obama’s Big Government message is falling flat

The relentless emphasis on bailouts and stimulus spending has done little to spur economic growth or create jobs, but has greatly advanced the power of the federal government in America. This is not an approach that is proving popular with the American public, and even most European governments have long ditched this tax and spend approach to saving their own economies.

6. Obama’s support for socialised health care is a huge political mistake

In an extraordinary act of political Harakiri, President Obama leant his full support to the hugely controversial, unpopular and divisive health care reform bill, with a monstrous price tag of $940 billion, whose repeal is now supported by 55 per cent of likely US voters. As I wrote at the time of its passing, the legislation is “a great leap forward by the United States towards a European-style vision of universal health care, which will only lead to soaring costs, higher taxes, and a surge in red tape for small businesses. This reckless legislation dramatically expands the power of the state over the lives of individuals, and could not be further from the vision of America’s founding fathers.”

7. Obama’s handling of the Gulf oil spill has been weak-kneed and indecisive

While much of the spilled oil in the Gulf has now been thankfully cleared up, the political damage for the White House will be long-lasting. Instead of showing real leadership on the matter by acing decisively and drawing upon offers of international support, the Obama administration settled on a more convenient strategy of relentlessly bashing an Anglo-American company while largely sitting on its hands. Significantly, a poll of Louisiana voters gave George W. Bush higher marks for his handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, with 62 percent disapproving of Obama’s performance on the Gulf oil spill.

8. US foreign policy is an embarrassing mess under the Obama administration

It is hard to think of a single foreign policy success for the Obama administration, but there have been plenty of missteps which have weakened American global power as well as the standing of the United States. The surrender to Moscow on Third Site missile defence, the failure to aggressively stand up to Iran’s nuclear programme, the decision to side with ousted Marxists in Honduras, the slap in the face for Great Britain over the Falklands, have all contributed to the image of a US administration completely out of its depth in international affairs. The Obama administration’s high risk strategy of appeasing America’s enemies while kicking traditional US allies has only succeeded in weakening the United States while strengthening her adversaries.

9. President Obama is muddled and confused on national security

From the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to the War on Terror, President Obama’s leadership has often been muddled and confused. On Afghanistan he rightly sent tens of thousands of additional troops to the battlefield. At the same time however he bizarrely announced a timetable for the withdrawal of US forces beginning in July 2011, handing the initiative to the Taliban. On Iraq he has announced an end to combat operations and the withdrawal of all but 50,000 troops despite a recent upsurge in terrorist violence and political instability, and without the Iraqi military and police ready to take over. In addition he has ditched the concept of a War on Terror, replacing it with an Overseas Contingency Operation, hardly the right message to send in the midst of a long-war against Al-Qaeda.

10. Obama doesn’t believe in American greatness

Barack Obama has made it clear that he doesn’t believe in American exceptionalism, and has made apologising for his country into an art form. In a speech to the United Nations last September he stated that “no one nation can or should try to dominate another nation. No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed. No balance of power among nations will hold.” It is difficult to see how a US president who holds these views and does not even accept America’s greatness in history can actually lead the world’s only superpower with force and conviction.

There is a distinctly Titanic-like feel to the Obama presidency and it’s not hard to see why. The most left-wing president in modern American history has tried to force a highly interventionist, government-driven agenda that runs counter to the principles of free enterprise, individual freedom, and limited government that have made the United States the greatest power in the world, and the freest nation on earth.

This, combined with weak leadership both at home and abroad against the backdrop of tremendous economic uncertainty in an increasingly dangerous world, has contributed to a spectacular political collapse for a president once thought to be invincible. America at its core remains a deeply conservative nation, which cherishes its traditions and founding principles. President Obama is increasingly out of step with the American people, by advancing policies that undermine the United States as a global power, while undercutting America’s deep-seated love for freedom.

Comment:   Obama has come across as untrustworthy and foreign to American culture.  On nearly every political point he has claimed to be important and vital, he cannot be straightforward.  He equivocates, denies what he has previously avowed even when it is recorded, contradicts himself constantly.  He will say anything to persuade even when he doesn’t need to.  He seems to have no core.   His narcissism is definitely a major handicap.

Understanding Your Lefty Bigots Better…..Let’s Start With Jared Kushner and the New York Observor!

Out here in the northern boondocks, Jared Kushner means nothing to me, except the name sounds Jewish.  I have never, in my recollection, heard of  the New York Observor, either.  Nor is Joe Conason a name known anywhere that I know of.   But the title  ”Conservative Racists Return” is familiar enough to all aware and discerning Americans.  It has the smell of the Left.

One knows immediately American Leftwing sleaze and slime is still alive and well.   For over a generation this group of hatemongers has gathered together their tribes and fifedoms to gain their Marxist command over the American scene.   Racists, homophobes, sexists, xenophobes, primitives, white supremacists, Christians, Ku Klux Klanners, and on and on including now days “antiLatino” and antiLatina”  are shouted  like falsely shouting  “FIRE” in a crowded theater, hoping for the same results……chaos and tragedy.   Chaos and tragedy, indeed, have occurred from such shouts.

The American Left leadership  has always been classists pushing hate…….shouting  hate against employers and all who are not in the organized labor movements.  In Europe millions upon millions of people were murdered by the hate spread by the political LEFT.

Now we have the New York Observor’s Joe Conason’s “Conservative Racists Return” and almost all the “Harvard” educated in the American mainstream media:

“Among the most revealing aspects of life during the Obama presidency is the panoply of responses to a black family in the White House. What made so many of us proud of our country on Jan. 20, 2009, has increasingly provoked expressions of hatred from the far right. That is troubling, but not nearly as troubling as the behavior of conservatives who excuse, embolden or simply pretend to ignore the bigots surrounding them.

Last spring, after unruly tea party protesters on Capitol Hill were accused of spewing racial epithets at civil rights hero John Lewis, an African-American congressman from Georgia, conservatives rose up in furious denial. Where was the proof? How could anyone suggest that racial prejudice lurks behind the festering right-wing hatred of President Obama (and his family)? Anger over that episode still lingers in certain quarters, motivating the deceptively edited video attack on Shirley Sherrod and the NAACP by a website called Big Government, Inc.

Even if the alleged assault on Lewis and other black congressmen did occur, argued prominent commentators on the right, it somehow only proved that there is no racism in America worthy of concern. A writer for National Review (the conservative magazine that historically opposed civil rights legislation) confided that the whole subject made him yawn:

“That these things are even remotely newsworthy leads me to one conclusion: Racism in America is dead. We had slavery, then we had Jim Crow-and now we have the occasional public utterance of a bad word. Real racism has been reduced to de minimis levels, while charges of racism seem to increase.”

But this summer has seen several loud and ugly outbursts of very real racism — including threats of violence against the president of the United States — that go well beyond the utterance of any single word. As if suffering from a facial tic, leading figures on the right cannot seem to suppress their inner Klansman these days.

Is there any other way to explain Glenn Beck’s crazed rant comparing the Obama administration to an old movie about a society where apes and chimpanzees dominate humans? What did the Fox News host mean, exactly, when he shrieked: “It’s like the damned Planet of the Apes. Nothing makes sense!” Is there any other way to explain the grotesque new best-seller by radio host Laura Ingraham, “The Obama Diaries,” where, among other things, she depicts first lady Michelle Obama eating ribs at every meal? Why would she feel the need to describe the president as “uppity” by putting the word in the mouth of his mother-in-law? No wonder Stephen Colbert taunted Ms. Ingraham to her face for “hideous and hackneyed racial stereotyping.”

Of course, these are only two of the more egregious instances in recent weeks of social poisoning that dates back well over a year. Symptoms can be seen across the country now, even in amusement parks and church carnivals, where small children are exposed to this spiritual sickness.

At the Big Time fair held by Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Roseto, Pa., last week, a game called “Alien Attack” featured “an image of a suited black man holding a health care bill and wearing a belt buckle with a presidential seal,” at which players were encouraged to aim their popguns. Anybody who hit the cardboard figure in the head or the heart could win a prize. Irvin L. Good Jr., owner of Goodtime Amusements, who is responsible for this disgusting garbage, denied that the figure represents Mr. Obama. “We’re not interpreting it as Obama,” the inaptly named huckster told a local newspaper. “The name of the game is Alien Leader. If you’re offended, that’s fine, we duly note that.”

Meanwhile on the New Jersey shore, patrons of the Seaside Heights boardwalk could hurl baseballs at a black, jug-eared Obama figurine, winning a prize if they managed to smash it. As seen in a video posted on the Gawker website, this object closely resembles the grinning “lawn jockey” statuettes that used to festoon suburban lawns in a less decent era.

Most conservatives were late in taking responsibility for their movement’s immoral opposition to civil rights. It is time for them to step up and denounce the racism that is again disfiguring our country in their name.”

Comment:  According to Wiki, the New York Observor is a weekly publication for the upper echelons of Manhattan society.  It has a paid subscription of 51,000.

No mention was made regarding the political persuasion of the New York Observor.  Wiki advertises good things about the New York Observor….It is owned by Jared Kushner, the son of a wealthy  Jewish “real estate investor” (“mogul” would have been the Marxist noun used against successful New York  Jewish real estate investors sixty years ago), but today and after a Harvard graduation and a law degree, son Kushner has apparently switched sides to join the Marxist attacks on America, to become a real bigot.

The real bigot here, however, is Jared Kushner himself.  Even in Wiki, he is listed as a major contributor to the Democrat Party.  It is about time that these bigots both writer and perpetrator are held responsible for their false and evil shouts of fire in the theater of  tense American politics which have caused chaos and murder over the decades.

Joe Conason makes false charges.  He claims the  panoply of responses to a black family in the White House include:      “provoked expressions of hatred from the far right. That is troubling, but not nearly as troubling as the behavior of conservatives who excuse, embolden or simply pretend to ignore the bigots surrounding them”.

Where are the names?  Who are the “them”?   What are the expressions?

Joe rumors a group:     “unruly tea party protesters on Capitol Hill were accused of spewing racial epithets at civil rights hero John Lewis, an African-American congressman from Georgia, conservatives rose up in furious denial.”

Reporter Joe is either incompetent or a liar or both.   ALL OF THE PLENTIFUL EVIDENCE PROVES THE ACCUSATIONS MADE AGAINST THE TEA PARTY GROUP ARE FALSE!

Reporter Joe “reports” …”this summer has seen several loud and ugly outbursts of very real racism — including threats of violence against the president of the United States — that go well beyond the utterance of any single word. As if suffering from a facial tic, leading figures on the right cannot seem to suppress their inner Klansman these days.”

Reporter Joe continues:  “Is there any other way to explain Glenn Beck’s crazed rant comparing the Obama administration to an old movie about a society where apes and chimpanzees dominate humans? What did the Fox News host mean, exactly, when he shrieked: “It’s like the damned Planet of the Apes. Nothing makes sense!”

Is there any other way to explain the grotesque new best-seller by radio host Laura Ingraham, “The Obama Diaries,” where, among other things she depicts first lady Michelle Obama eating ribs at every meal? Why would she feel the need to describe the president as “uppity” by putting the word in the mouth of his mother-in-law? No wonder Stephen Colbert taunted Ms. Ingraham to her face for “hideous and hackneyed racial stereotyping.”

Then Reporter Joe refers to something local which cannot have resonated much beyond his bubbling bigotry for the mainstream media would have sent it live throughout the country.

“Where’s the meat?”   Where is there even on phrase of proof or example of conservative racism.  It is interesting to note that according to reporter Joe, “Conservative Racists Return”.

Were they on vacation?

The real bigot here is Jared Kushner himself.  He is responsible for this shouting fire in our crowded  American political theater!

How Many Muslim “Clerics” Are On the Obama State Department Payroll?

Scott W. Johnson of PowerLine writes about your taxes and mine sending this particular Imam to do Imam things, “Wrong Man for the Mission”.

The question arises, how many other imams are running around doing imam things as American taxpayers’ expense?

And, why is this Obama sending this particular imam around….the one who can’t seem to understand what tolerance means and where in the world it is most needed….That kind of imam, the kind of which are overwhelmingly abundant.

The Johnson article:

“The possibility that Muslims will erect a victory monument (a/k/a Muslim facility, mosque, Islamic center, interfaith shrine) within yards of Ground Zero is something like a knife in the heart to most Americans. The front man for the project is one Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf.

Who is Rauf? He is touted as “a moderate Muslim cleric,” but I’m not buying it. I don’t think it’s too tough to figure out where anyone who says Osama bin Lade was made in America, or that America was an accessory to 9/11, is coming from. We understand.

Claudia Rosett has blown the whistle on a related story. It now turns out that the Department of State is sending Rauf on a little trip to the Middle East. Thank you, Ms. Rosett.

It took Rosett several days of questions and phone calls to the State Department to confirm the story of Rauf’s trip or details about the State-sponsored summer outreach excursions to the Middle East. Rosett comments: “Apparently, it takes quite a while at State to get ‘clearance’ for disclosure to the American public of such basic details as who, exactly, is engaging in public outreach at our expense and on our behalf.” This week the State Department finally confirmed that Rauf is taking the publicly funded trip to foster “greater understanding” about Islam and Muslim communities in the United States. Destinations are to include Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Qatar.

Is Rauf really the right man for the mission? I hereby nominate Andrew McCarthy, a man with deep experience of Islamic communities in the United States and the author of a newly published book on the subject, to replace the unaromatic Rauf on the State Department trip.

“[Rauf] is a distinguished Muslim cleric,” says State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley, when asked about the trip. By what is Rauf distinguished? I’d say mostly for the unusual skill he brings to the art of holding himself out as “a moderate Muslim cleric” while expressing the mealymouthed attitude to terrorism to which we have become accustomed. According to Rauf, “Terrorism is a very complex question.” We understand. This is, as Rich Lowry observes “the stock answer of anyone excusing terrorism.”

The State Department denies that Rauf will be raising money for the victory monument on his little trip. But according to a London-based Arabic-language newspaper that interviewed Rauf about the trip, Rauf says he will collect money from Muslim and Arab nations around the world to support his New York project. As the linked New York Post article suggests, he may therefore be multitasking on his trip.

In any event, we have here a remarkable confluence of forces. What are we to make of the fact that the Obama administration is teaming up with the front man for the Muslim victory monument at Ground Zero? Even if it there is something coincidental to these matters, it is a revealing coincidence.”

Comment:  It is also abundantly clear that our nonAmerican president, Mr. Obama cannot tell the difference between the world of tolerance in Saudi Arabia and the world of tolerance in the United States of America…….especially the part that includes New York City in general, and Ground Zero specifically.  After all he is a modern  American Democrat….a Marxist.
