Toure at N.Y. Times Shows that Black Racism is Still a Major Disease in America……….

No Such Place as ‘Post-Racial’ America

By TOURé

Dear America,

Please, I beg you, stop using the bankrupt and meaningless term “post-racial!” There’s no such thing as “post-racial.” There’s no place that fits the description “post-racial America.” There’s no “post-racial era.” It’s a term for a concept that does not exist. There’s no there there.

We are not a nation devoid of racial discrimination nor are we a nation where race does not matter. Race and racism are still critical factors in determining what happens and who gets ahead in America. The election of Barack Obama ushered in this silly term and now that he’s begun running for re-election, I’m here to brusquely escort it out of the party called American English because it’s a con man of a term, selling you a concept that doesn’t exist.

“Post-racial” is a mythical idea that should be as painful to the mind’s ear as fingernails on the chalkboard are to the outer ear. It’s an intellectual Loch Ness monster. It is indeed a monster because it’s dangerous. What people seem to mean by “post-racial” is: nowadays race no longer matters and anyone can accomplish anything because racism is behind us. All of that is false. But widespread use of the term lends credence to the idea that all of that is true—I mean, why would we have a term for an idea that’s not real? In that way the lie becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy and thus feeds the notion that it’s O.K. to be somnambulant about race or even aggressively dismissive of it.

Race is like weather — we only talk about it when it’s extreme but it’s always there. If, as “post-racial” suggests, race no longer matters, then we no longer need to think about race or take the discussion of it seriously. In this way the concept becomes a shield against uncomfortable but necessary discussions allowing people to say or think, “Why are they complaining about racism? We’re post-racial.”

This barrier to conversation is dangerous in a nation where race and racism still matter very much. A place where black unemployment is far higher than white unemployment, where profiling and institutional racism and white privilege and myriad other forms of racism still shape so much of life in America. If we don’t need to discuss race then it’s allowed to fester and grow unchecked like an untreated malignant tumor. Race is an issue every American must care about. It’s not a black issue, it’s everyone’s issue. It’s relevant and important for whites because we all live here together and because the issue hurts everyone. If your neighbor’s house is on fire, or gets foreclosed, you have a problem. If your neighbor’s soul is on fire you have a major problem.

Only through being aware of racial disparities and talking about race can we have any chance of forward movement. Because nowadays there are many white people who are not racist, who are perhaps anti-racist, but who still benefit from white privilege without even meaning to. So you may not be racist but still receiving the spoils of racism. That still doesn’t make you racist. But it makes you part of the system and reveals why it’s also your responsibility to interrogate and examine how our society works and be aware of the biases that keep white supremacy functioning. The term “post-racial” is the enemy of communication, understanding and progress. (“Post-racial” is not at all synonymous with “post-black,” a term from the art world that explains modern black identity and the complexity of being black today and is the guiding force of my book “Who’s Afraid of Post-Blackness?”)

“Post-racial” is just one of several terms that only pervert and distort the discussion of race and give people who wish to disrupt the conversation a place to park their ideas. Others include “race card” and “reverse racism” and “race baiter.” The naïve term “race card” always refers to a black person racializing a situation that the person using the term thinks doesn’t need to be racialized. It’s as if race was not part of the situation, and no one was being black or white, and everybody was being color blind, and whistling sweetly, until a black person came along and ruined everything by pointing out race. But race is like weather—we only talk about it when it’s extreme but it’s always there.

Interestingly, “race card” is never used to signify a white person using race—as they do when they use the term race card thus trying to repudiate or silence discussion of race. I wonder why that is. The ludicrous term “reverse racism” has been around for a long time but has gained new force in this era in which people use the term “post-racial.” It seems to function like some sort of rallying cry. “We no longer need be cowed by your accusations of racism! We have the antidote! We have a concept called reverse racism! Whenever you cry racism we’ll retort reverse racism! Then we don’t have to take you seriously! Muahahaha!”

From a linguistic standpoint the term is meaningless: something is either racist or it’s not. Reverse makes no sense. There’s no stipulation within the definition of racism that it need be white to black. Ultimately this is another term that seeks to replace potentially productive discussions of race with noise. “Race baiter” works in the same way, as an attempt to reject the conversation about race.

I suspect “post-racial” was born benignly from the hope that Obama’s electoral success meant that the racial problems that have long plagued America were over. Kumbaya. Surely Obama’s victory revealed something had changed in America, but it was not a signal that we’d reached the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s mountaintop world where race no longer matters and equality has been achieved. During the Obama administration “post-racial” and “race card” and “reverse racism” have run amok like gremlins in the language, obfuscating race and making discussions about it harder. America still has so much work to do regarding race and racism and “post-racial” is only making that work harder to do. That’s why “post-racial” and its cohorts must be stopped posthaste.

Thank you, Touré

Comment:   This fancydan juvenile would do well lecturing at the Black Citadels of Hate lecturings  at university Black Studies Departments where these birds of a feather flock to hate together.   Instead, he is at the New York Times.

For the devoted Marxist it is exceedingly important that  the urban black plantations which produce the fangs of these    Toure folks, maintain their hate temperatures high and growls loud.   How else could they make a living…..outside of the Marxist media such as the opinion pages at the New York Times?

Since the destruction of the black family some fifty years ago when the federal government gave more money to  moms than hubbies could bring home,   mouths,  minds, and pens  like Toures have flourished.   Allergic to learning  white man’s learnings what else can these Toures sell?    They can’t play team sports, and could never lead in the military.

They make a good living off of black racism,  hating nearly anything and everybody  including fellow blacks who  break out of their black  racist imprisonment.

That  the racist Toure’s hate-noise comes  from the New York Times should surprise no one, but proves beyond any doubt, that the bonds between the two arise  from similar   dedication to  a  one party big government to control   the country, and encouraging hates is the trump card leading to victory.     These Marxists have no interest in a peaceful and prosperous  American society for its citizens.

How  could today’s Leftwing  barkers, white or black  solicit their votes without selling  scenarios of lies and hates?

The New York Times should be known by all as a major source for the mouths, minds and pens of racist hate.

When I was young, the most repulsive public display and consequent action was performed by the white Ku Klux Klan.

Today, brazen racists of the ugliest public display come from the nation’s Toure’s.   They are so brazen in their hate stirings, they don’t bother to wear hoods to cover their shame…….they sign their Toure at the New York Times.

Building America’s Government for Tomorrow’s Marxist Dictatorship

Cadillac Pay in the Land of Lincoln

from the National Center for Policy Analysis:

It’s very likely that Illinois public employees receive a pay premium over similar private sector workers, says Andrew G. Biggs, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute.

Based on 2005-2010 data from the Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey, Illinois state and local workers receive salaries around 5.8 percent below those of private sector workers with similar education and experience.  But public sector benefits are a lot more generous than those in the private sector.

  • Let’s say you had an Illinois state employee who retired at age 65 with 30 years of service and a final salary of $60,000.
  • His annual pension benefit would be around $29,160.
  • For this, he contributed about 4 percent of his working salary, although in some cases the contribution is “picked up” by the employer.
  • From 1992 to 2003, it seems that most Illinois state employees paid no pension contribution, and many still do not.

Now let’s see what that same worker might get from a 401(k), which most private sector workers have.

  • Let’s assume he contributed the same 4 percent of pay and his employer contributed 3 percent, which is fairly typical in the private sector.
  • Let’s also assume he invested in government bonds, since he wants a guaranteed benefit to match the public sector defined-benefit plan.
  • This would provide him with a retirement annuity of around $4,450.
  • In addition, he would receive a Social Security benefit of around $22,700, for a total of $27,150.
  • Illinois public employees generally don’t participate in Social Security.

About even, right?  Except that to get the Social Security benefit a private sector worker has to pay an additional 6.2 percent of his wages.  So the private worker contributes 10.2 percent of pay for a pension of $27,150 while the Illinois government worker contributes 4 percent (and sometimes less) for $29,160.

To produce the same pension as the stylized Illinois public employee illustrated above, a private sector worker would have to increase his 401(k) contribution from 4 percent of salary to more than 40 percent.  So it appears very likely that generous public sector pension benefits are more than enough to make up for a modest public sector salary penalty in Illinois.

Comment:   With the power of the Democrat Party machine to finance and expand government union hirings at tax payer expense, more and more Americans will become dependent upon Marxism for its bread and butter.    Review the conditions of our country’s black population in the inner city.    That is our future for all of America, urban and small town, a population beholden to government bureaucrats  who hold their purse in trade for their vote.

Private enterprise has used government for favors.   Never has it been so cozy with federal government bureaucrats as it is today with the advance of Marxism by Barack Hussein Obama.   Eventually when Marxism expands its base of forced equals, no one will be able to follow the  public good for fear of losing their Marxist begotten wealth.

What Caused the Collapse of the American Public School Systems?

Well, to be brief and to the point, the collapse of the American Public School systems arrived with the disappearance of teaching the pursuit of  knowledge with the arrival of a new religion, Marxism,   at the educational departments of American universities.

The nation’s terrorists during the cultural revolution of  its 1967- 1977  rebellions changed weapons and went to college to sharpen their fangs for future use…..its new order, to spread the evangelism of antiAmericanism.

Today’s Democrat Party with Obama at its helm is the  New Economic Policy of Marxism’s gift  to America, a newish form of this historic tyranny,  but the same old face to those who know history.

Yet, at home here in my Northland there are more ‘intimate’ stories to tell of the crushing collapse of this  once honorable American institution.

I spent 8  years in the confines  of  Minneapolis’  public school  system as a high school teacher,  and was expelled from the ‘profession’ in 1972.   I had tenure, but then I didn’t have tenure.  With large government  bureaucracies, the meaning of such words  depends upon  who your attorneys are and how authority manipulates definitions.

I am a judgmental person.   This proclivity is part generational and part genetics.   Whatever its history I have had a strong concept of right from wrong in nearly every geography of life.   I do believe, however, that the persons who most influenced me in this ‘arena’ were my old maid public school teachers of the 1940s and early 1950s.

The were well educated, skilled, and devoted to their cause, educating for the pursuit of knowledge,  in a highly disciplined environment.

And then came the Liberals, the anti-intellectuals who hated knowledge, but thought highly of themselves and were determined to make life ‘fun’ in the teen years of human development.  It was to define and force human ‘equality’ upon its victims..

Simultaneously came the politics of ‘racial’ integration and Liberal court interference which forced bussing blacks around various communities  for political purposes which had nothing to do with education and learnings.    Add to this tornado the winds of drugs, riots, public sex, the diseases of feminism,  and cultural decay;  the culture of the age to create a new profile, the American proud of his and her defiance of  everything traditional; the beginnings of the New Marxist-Democrat Party which eventually would manage to elect America’s first Marxist as president..

As in any tyranny, neither good nor bad can thrive for long  without control over the training of society’s young.   The American cultural revolution gave rise to the Bill Ayers crowd of terrorists who went into the profession of ‘teaching’ teachers.     The public school began its long road to its tar pits as a viable instrument  to pass on to its young knowledge and understanding of its past, preparing is young for their  future, and respect for its  own  future and the learnings needed for future citizens  to solve the country’s  problems.

No group would be more punished by the  tyranny  infecting its halls of learning than the youth of the American black……but all of America has suffered.   No group would become uglier in future years as a result.

I fought against a system a generation ago which was experiencing the beginning of this painful collapse  of  America the Beautiful……and the rise of Marxist thought-control teachings at university and in schools led by the censorship of “political correctness”.

Fifty years ago when I began my ‘teaching’ career, there were two teacher unions in the state of Minnesota, the Federation of teachers….an urban and male oriented group, and the larger, ‘teachers’ Association….. consisting mostly of “outstate” teachers, women from urban  elementary schools and  married women teaching as a second family income.

Urban single gals teaching were more likely to be union members.   Membership in either organization, as I recall, was not required.   The union was decidedly  sympathetic to the Democratic Party of the day.   So was I.

Neither group had  any serious  interest in the quality of education their  teachers were offering.    That was considered off limits by all interested parties,  during that time.

With my  advantage of hindsight, I believe the teacher of my earlier years in the professon compared  to today’s imitation,  was an adult, an American who believed in the country and its religion, practiced civilized behavior, eschewed drugs as a vital  supplement to life, enjoyed their roles as teachers in the community,  were family oriented, and conducted themselves honorably at their posts.   They did not use bananas as education props, nor did Presidents of the United States of the day recommend sex education begin in the first grade.

Nor were minority children trained to pay homage and  allegiance and sing hymns of praise and loyalty to any president of the United States of any decade, until the election of America’s first Marxist president, Barack Hussein Obama.

During my ‘tenure’ as a public school teacher, the lowest person of importance on the totem pole of worship, was the classroom public school teacher.   The value of educating the young had already been devaluated.    By the early 1970s civilization in the black school, whether junior or senior high school had taken a nose dive.

No teachers, no one in the Minneapolis public school system was allowed to discuss realities within it realm…..on pain of losing ones career.     When minority students began to carry guns into the classroom to threaten others both black and white, no one was to speak of any such events.

The School Administration, led by Superintendent John Davis,  did whatever it could to publicize the positive in its schools, censoring any news of its  black disruptives no matter who the victims were.   Its leaders  meant well,  hoping  that the worried and responsible white community with school-aged children, would not  flee the city to the safety of the suburb.

Public education has been in decline….a free fall…..ever since.    In general its teachers are taught by teachers at university who shame the profession of teaching, and disgrace the democracy which has allowed them the feedom to disgrace and degrade  the country, its young and the future of America.

The public school  teachers in Minneapolis of my day were good people who when compared to today’s ‘breed’ were geniouses and masters of education and civility……..but they were at the bottom of every  ladder of measure of the education system, even then.

However, being a good person and traditional teacher could not cope with the absolute ignorance, the tension, violence, foul politics, threats,  which so many in the black student community brought with them.   With the knowledge that Leftwing lightening may strike me this very moment for mention something which cannot be mentioned, the major reason for the collapse of traditional  learning standards of the American public school system, probably throughout the country’s metropolitan areas, was caused by the arrival of a mass of young people from a culture totally foreign to anything resembling the peace and quiet of a school’s classroom.   Violence, both physical and oral overwhelmed the school scene and replaced the peaceful setting which Americans took for granted since public schools were ‘invented’.

Whites, meaning well, nearly always ignored the disorders.   Folks had to understand black ‘sufferings’.   The new wave of lefty educators developed an entirely new public school classroom.   Sex would be ‘in’……black ‘culture’ would become sacred.    American was evil.

Civilized people were told they were bigotted if they criticized anything ‘black’.

This commandment from  the American Left still  prevails to this very day.

As the historian, Arnold Toynbee claimed……”Great civilizations are not muredered.   They commit suicide.”

Big Government Obama Occupies Big Government’s Banks

How Obama bought off the big banks

(and vice versa)

Steve McCann   at   The American Thinker

Occasionally the Washington Post does some real reporting.  Yesterday Zachery Goldfarb did an analysis of the aggregate profits over the past three years for the major banks and financial institutions as compared to the eight years of the Bush administration.   The finding: these firms have accumulated more profit in the three years of the Obama administration than they did in the two terms of George W. Bush.

In an interview with Mr. Goldfarb on NPR when asked what kind of companies and how this happened, replied:

“We’re talking about banks, the big ones you’ve heard of, Citigroup, Bank of America.  These big banks have done well coming out of the crisis.  The Wall Street firms most people haven’t heard about, which are either independent companies [such as Goldman Sachs] or the securities arms of big banks [such as Merrill Lynch], have done even better.

Well, there are a couple of reasons [why the profits].  The government, including the Bush administration, as well as other agencies like the Federal Reserve and the FDIC, unveiled policies that were extremely advantageous for banks [and other financial institutions].  For example, government policies basically gave banks nearly free money, loans at zero percent and then turn it around into investments and that obviously is an extreme advantage that nobody else has.”

It is a real no-brainer to borrow money from the Fed at near zero percent and then turn around and buy Treasury Bills at 3+% in order to finance the deficits run up by the Obama administration.

Of course it didn’t hurt that Wall Street et al were the major financial contributors to the Obama campaign in 2008 and are still flowing contributions to his campaign for 2012 despite his public demonization of Wall Street and tacit alliance with the Occupy Wall Street movement.

The contributions in 2008 broke down as follows between Obama and McCain by Wall Street sector:

         Obama       McCain         Total     % Obama
Securities & Investments     $15.8 Million     $9.2 million      $25 million            63%
Hedge Funds        3.5      2.0        5.5          64
Commercial Banks         3.4       2.4         5.8           59
Insurance        3.4      2.3        5.7          60

TOTAL    $26.1 Million  $15.9 Million     $42.0 Million          62%

This does not include other contributions funneled to the Democratic National Committee, other Democratic candidates etc which exceeded $40 million (59% of total contributions).

This was an investment that really did pay off handsomely.

Roger Kimball on the Occupiers’ Alliance with Obama’s Big Government

“QUOTE OF THE DAY (ON OCCUPY WALL STREET)

by Roger Kimball    at    Pajamas Media

From Mark Steyn, writing about the Occupy [Fill in the Blank] at NRO:

At first glance, an alliance of anarchists and government might appear to be somewhat paradoxical. But the formal convergence in Oakland makes explicit the movement’s aims: They’re anarchists for statism, wild free-spirited youth demanding more and more total government control of every aspect of life — just so long as it respects the fundamental human right to sloth.

“Anarchists for statism.” It has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? It used to be that anarchists were anti-government. But our new, improved anarchists, most of them privileged beneficiaries of an economic system they pretend to loathe, are positively Whitmanian in their embrace of contradiction. (“Do I contradict myself? Very well, I contradict myself. I am large, I contain multitudes . . . “)

It is hardly surprising that this fragile compact yields an unusual harvest. “What’s happening in Oakland,” Steyn writes, where the city authorities have actually urged people “to collaborate” with the protestors,

is a logical exercise in class solidarity: The government class enthusiastically backing the breakdown of civil order is making common cause with the leisured varsity class, the thuggish union class, and the criminal class in order to stick it to what’s left of the beleaguered productive class. It’s a grand alliance of all those societal interests that wish to enjoy in perpetuity a lifestyle they are not willing to earn. Only the criminal class is reasonably upfront about this. The rest — the lifetime legislators, the unions defending lavish and unsustainable benefits, the “scholars” whiling away a somnolent half decade at Complacency U — are obliged to dress it up a little with some hooey about “social justice” and whatnot.

Meanwhile Rudy Giuliani, echoing something I wrote here a couple of weeks ago, notes that Obama and the Democrats “own Occupy Wall Street.” They support it, by word and deed, and it’s likely that it will bring down his administration. Rudy also asked one of the most splendid questions yet asked about Occupy Wall Street: “How about you occupy a job. How about working?” What a novel idea!
