Only a Leftist could utter or write a statement so stupid and clumsy as “Nobody Understands Debt”, but Paul Krugman proved me wrong:
By PAUL KRUGMAN at the New York Times

This member of the New York Times staff of leftward loonies, Paul Krugman, occupies a teaching position at Princeton University. It is likely Mr. Krugman is not intentionally conveying a lie here. It is more likely Mr. Krugman, a religious devotee to American Marxism, is also a devotee of fantasy to support his writings, hence: “Nobody Understands Debt”.
I, together with my son, own a small landscape company here in the Twin Cities. Until the housing crash which drove nearly 50% of the local landscape companies out of the market into failure, we had a full time staff of seven and seven laborers hired during the working season…..which is rather short in the landscaping business here in the North. We plow snow in the winter to help keep us alive.
Over the past four years we have lost a quarter of a million dollars and have fallen into considerable debt. Due to the economic downward spiral and the uncertainty it causes for everyone not on government pensions, we have lost about half of our regular business, but we are surviving, but deep in debt.
We still have five families depending on the success of this business for survival.
In the past either I, as its major owner, or the bank where I have carried my busness for 37 years would provide the necessary cash flow needed from time to time as always occurs for such a seasonal business as ours. Loans were especially needed for purchasing more and more equipment to provide better and better services.
Our profits are considerably down during Obama reign, the past three and a half years. One cannot borrow money…..it no longer is available to small businesses. One cannot hire, for customers are wary of spending money and for some, landscaping ones grounds is a luxury item.
All of the families relying on this landscape company know full well what DEBT is.
More money is being spent than money is taken in. It is a rather simply Law of Human Life. Unfortunately the ‘initiated’, that is the Obamalings graduating from universities, are ignorant of such a Law. They study feminism and Gore.
In my family I and my two sons know exactly what DEBT means. We run private businesses.
My daughter who lives well kept on Manhattan in New York City, and my ex-wife of 34 years, who never worked for any place other than a government institution and is retired with a hefty government pension, has never known what DEBT is since the first years of our marriage 50 years ago. I took care of the ‘books’ Both are Obamalings who think the male members of the family are failures, uneducated, inexperienced with college knowledge and its leftwing sensitivities. We are the ’uninitiated’.
I was a similar ‘snot’ until I taught public high school in a district of mostly blue collar and service workers in Minneapolis among people who worked hard, were frugal, raised large families, went to Church, and lacked lefty pretenses. Most voted Democrat in those days. They were terrific Americans, commanded traditional Christian values. Most had never attended college.
My daughter teaches ballet in New York. She is very good at it, has been a successful dancer and a skilled and attracting teacher of ballet. That is the sum total of her education beyond learning some Italian.
Of course, I love this Obamaling dearly even though she refuses to talk to conservatives including me. Conservatives make her nervous. The last time I visited her on her island of lefty isolates just like her, I was 72 years old. I spent over a week visiting and enjoying the city by myself. We had a good time chatting in her apartment, for Obama had not yet been delivered to America to save us from free enterprise.
My daughter governs conversational topics, else I cannot be invited to visit. I forget the topic which led to the following remark she made about me, her Father….. one of the most memorable remarks of any conversation we had ever had together.
She offered sweetly: “You know, Dad…..You could have really made something of yourself, if you had only come to New York!” It was so sweetly stated, it was as good as a kiss.
Yet, think of its message. I was working full time with modest income in a career I loved as she loved ballet, designing and installing landscape grounds, artistically fulfilling, spiritually fulfilling work in a company I owned along side my son and working with honorable devoted colleagues and outstanding young people and lived in my modest house surrounded by paradise.
Obamalings are indoor folk.
To these women of my life, an ’uninitiated’ life working the soil in Minnesota, I am a foreigner. Successful people are Progressives who live in New York and do progressive things. My daughter and my ex are very pleased they ‘rank’ among the ‘initiated’ who mill around things progressive. Neither know anything much beyond the romantic and dance who insist my sons would be better people, ’progressive’ people if they wouldn’t hang around their Dad so much.
Although my ex accumulated fewer than half of the 700 college quarter credits as I with my two bachelor degrees and graduate degree in Soviet Studies, and another masters study in Horticulture, I don’t think she ever took a science class, never studied a foreing language, genetics, Marxism, Aztecs, public health, astronomy, ecology, geology or climatology….nothing but journalism and a graduate degree in HUMANITIES. She was a well disciplined student devoted to doing well in class and enjoying its readings. I think she read Tolstoi’s, ‘War and Peace’ four times, at least. Andrei was her hero ever more with each reading.
Professionally, she became an editor and a very skilled one at that. She worked for government…..and wrote speeches for Governors upon occasion. She had obtained her social and professional objective……to join the ‘initiated’ of American culture…..those worthy of voting Progressive and living among Progressives doing progressive things.
In her retirement she volunteers regularly at the William Jefferson Clinton Library in Little Rock, Arkansas. There she treated my youngest son to hear a lecture by an initiated, the noted atheist and author on the subject, Richard Dawkins. Unfortunately for her, this son is the sharpest one of our blood. He was not persuaded by Professor Dawkin’s religion.
She can talk weather with the uninitiated but chooses not to know any such people other than her sons. Like so many women in past history, my daughter and ex ”shun” the ‘uninitiated’. Shunning makes life more comfortable.
Neither have ever met a payroll…..never have had to worry much about how the next month’s bills might be paid.
Personally I exited the ‘inititiated’ when early in my ownership of my landscape business, I discovered my workers get paid before I do…….or one has no business to offer. Sometimes, the owner doesn’t get paid at all no matter how hard he works. One gets to understand the condition of DEBT very quickly……..so quickly the ‘uninitiated’ are devoted to avoid it whenever they can.
