The Power of the Headline to Distort the News…this time the culprit is RealClearPolitics

RealClearPolitics is a good place for a variety of up-to-the- minute political, science, and education  articles gathered  for public view, ranging from the many absurd at the Huffington Post  to  those  of Charles Krauthammer’s  reasoning.

Below is a video of a moment in the yesterday’s  South Carolina  televised debate when Mitt Romney is asked by a ‘gotcha’  question posed by a standard lefty media ’newsman’ trying to catch the Governor by using the candidate’s  dad as a model ‘ideal’ as a weapon to embarrass.

The Governor being more a business man than a shrewd testy politician like Newt Gingrich, or a thoroughly dishonest and disingenuous  one like Barack Hussein Obama, smiled and answered ‘Maybe”, and followed up with some possibilies , followed by a smattering of heckling and a boo or two which elicits the following headline for the realclearpolitics video below:

“DEBATE AUDIENCE BOOS ROMNEY OVER TAX RETURNS”…………..and the sub-head which  roughly repeats, emphasizing  the same negative,  ”CROWD HECKLES MITT ON TAX FORMS”

The following is the script for the video presented by realclearpolitics accompanying the  ‘boos and heckles’ of these headlines.

When asked if he would released 12 years of tax returns like his father, George Romney, did during his presidential run, Mitt Romney says “maybe.”

“I don’t know how many years I’ll release,” he said. “I’ll take a look at what our documents are.” Some in the audience began to boo and heckle at this point. “And I’ll release multiple years. I don’t know how many years, but I’ll be happy to do that.”

He goes on to say that he’s “not going to apologize for being successful.”

“I didn’t inherit money from my parents. What I have, I earned. I worked hard, the American way. I’m going to be able to talk to President Obama in a way no one else can that’s in this race right now about how the free economy works, what it takes to put Americans back to work and make sure he understands that this divisiveness, that dividing Americans between 99 and one is dangerous. We are one nation under God.”

NOW CLICK ON THE VIDEO.  LISTEN TO MITT ROMNEYS FULL RESPONSE TO THIS GOTCHA QUESTION.   COUNT  THE SECONDS AND ESTIMATE THE VOLUME  WHEN HE WAS HECKLED AND COUNT THE SECONDS HE WAS CHEERED AND ESTIMATE THE VOLUME OF THE CHEERING.

DOES THE HEADLINE CORRECTLY CHARACTERIZE THE  AUDIENCE’S  REACTION  TO GOVERNOR ROMNEY’S ANSWERS  TO THE  QUESTION POSED BY THE GOTHA NEWSMAN?

Those who have studied  journalism and/or  America’s habits  of reading news items,  know  Americans don’t like to read the news and so scan for a few words which will give them the gist of the article.   Yes, I do this once in awhile  too, I confess.   It’s a human thing…..we’d rather get on with something besides  reading news articles.   Words past the first sentence or two often  run into the boredom from  too much information.   We have places to go to and people to see.

Why was there no mention that Mitt Romney received enthusiastic applause three or four times when he expanded his answer to the gotcha question?

Conservatives are used to  bigotted mass media’s bad habits…..especially Republican politicians.   Businessmen don’t want to insult or in anyway be impolite to their public.   They have been taught to be polite.  They are likely to smile while searching for the proper good for business answer.   Most successful businessmen want to be liked and  work hard to develop a good relationship with clients based on honesty, trust.

Even  America’s devious Marxist Leftwingers  in government and the voters who elect them seek to do their daily life’s  business with the most honest businessmen and women……who are, by the way still the vast majority of the American people.

Lefty politicians in America have been propagandized to believe they are God’s children…..even though not many lefties are actually interested in God except during election or re-election time.    Be witness to president Obama when he decides to turn one his God moods for public display.

Bill Clinton was frequently seen hauling around a Bible for the press to photograph and prove  his Christianity to the voter.   Besides, he’d quote a verse or two for extra emphasis especially during his many activities with his many  female friends and others.

God was frequently advertised on the Clinton sleeve.    The American media lapped up God off of the Clinton sleeve.

George W. Bush, who was honestly  churched, who was moved by an epiphany leading him to his religious life,  was chastised and ridiculed for such foolishness ….proof of his primitive cowboy thinking, his general   ignorance.

President Bush never wore  his God on his sleeve which added top volume to lefty noise during his days in Washington.
