Mitt Romney: Richer Means Superior

Mitt Romney recently said in Israel that Palestinians don’t have as high a GDP per capita as Israelis do because their culture is not as good as Jewish culture. That is both deeply racist and deeply stupid.

According to that logic, Jewish culture must not be as good as Arab culture because the GDP per capita of Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait crush Israel’s.

Mitt Romney also talked about divine hand of providence as a possible explanation of why Israelis are richer than Palestinians. Did God, or should I say Allah, change his mind and decide that he likes Arabs in the Gulf States more than even the Jews?

Here’s another explanation for the Palestinians plight: They have been under occupation for over 60 years now. They don’t even control their own borders or trade. There have been crushing embargoes on their territories. It’s a little hard to get trade going when you’re literally not allowed to trade.

Our military has aided and abetted this occupation and, in many ways, we have paid for it. Now we have a candidate for president of one of our major political parties go there and rub their face in it. It wasn’t our military that did this to you; it was your own inferior culture. That’s literally adding insult to injury.

Despite all of this, the most relevant part of this exchange might be the perspective it gives us into Mitt Romney’s world view. Rich makes right. If Israel is richer, by definition, it must be superior. If Mitt Romney is richer than everyone else, he must be superior to everyone else. Elect me for president, I’m richer than the other guy.

What he leaves unsaid is what is obvious in his mind, “The richer guy is obviously the better guy.”

The fact that Mitt might have had some advantages being the son of multi-millionaire governor and Israel might have had some advantages in getting $3 billion a year from the US and having a sovereign country is irrelevant to Romney. Richer equals better. Period. Who cares what the circumstances are? Mitt’s always about the bottom line.

Romney’s deeply offensive comments about the Palestinians probably won’t hurt him in the election at all. There is no group in America you can insult with more impunity than Palestinians and Arabs. That doesn’t hurt your electoral chances, it might even help. But what does hurt is the overwhelming sense you get from Romney that he is looking down his nose at you. This son of a bitch actually thinks he’s better than the rest of us because he was born to a mega-rich dad, figured out how to cheat the system at Bain and hid away so much of his money abroad (tax avoidance was an enormous contributor to his fortune – do you have any idea how much more you save up if you pay 10% in taxes a year rather than 35%). Now, that doesn’t sit so well.

Who wants to have a beer with a guy who thinks he’d rather be having a Chardonnay with one of his equals? To Mitt, we’re all Palestinians.

Comment:   Unfortunately, so often in our  Obama Leftist era,  if you  hear one Lefty, you have about heard them all.   There never has been as  an  era of politics when  group think and group speak have been so purely maintained by a political movement as the Obama Marxist collections. 

Now, the clahhenge to you dear reader is to check out  whether Cenk Uygur has bats in his belfry or not.   How would you go about doint this?    It is likely that those of you under age 40 have never  been trained to perform this act of truth checking.    If you did, you would be horrified what a grand liar your pressident  and his leaders in his Party have become.

Obama Goes to History to Justify his Hateful Campaign

For those of us who have bothered to read and remember about our American past will have to commend Mr. Obama for his accurate description of the acrimony and extreme dishonesty which became a part of the early presidential campaigns in America’s childhood.   Most notable were the gutter side claims between the forces of Thomas Jefferson and John Adams.

Both, however, were patriots.   Both were de voted to America and its repbulican future.   Both became good friends, attested to by their years of warm communications.   NEITHER WERE MARXISTS.

Can you imagine Mr. Obama having close citizen and friendship relationships with any of his political competitors…..even Bill Clinton?     With Bill Ayers, yes, such a warm comradeship is believeable and probably is already deeply established.    But they have been peas of the same Marxist pod……not competitors.

I hope and pray Mitt Romney remains true to his high standards of human  business and intellectual intercourse.   BUT HE SHOULD BY ALL MEANS  INFORM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE OF THE  EVILS OF THIS MARXIST, BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA, AND  NASTINESS, DIVISIVENESS, DISHONESTY  AND HIS INCOMPETENCE!

Obama defends his negative campaigning

President Obama invoked the founding generation of American politicians to defend his negative campaigning before predicting that he will get the economy “going full guns.”

“And this phase of the campaign I think you’re seeing a lot of negative ads and a lot of contrast ads — although when people start saying how terrible it is,” Obama said during a fundraiser at the NoMad Hotel in New York City, “I just have to remind them [to] take a look at what Jefferson and Adams had to say about each other, and democracy has always been pretty rough and pretty messy.” (“Contrast ad” is the Obama campaign’s preferred term for their hits on Romney).

Obama remembers the roots of negative campaigning correctly. The 1800 presidential campaign saw Jefferson’s team said John Adams had a “hideous hermaphroditical character,” while the Adams faction called “a mean-spirited, low-lived fellow, the son of a half-breed Indian squaw, sired by a Virginia mulatto father.” And Americans who do claim to dislike negative ads should recognize that campaigns only run them because voters find them persuasive.

Nevertheless, this historical perspective from Obama is a far cry from his promise not to run negative campaign ads in 2008. “Do we want to have the same old attack politics that we’ve become accustomed to?” Obama asked in 2008, as Buzzfeed recalled today. “This is a different time. This is an extraordinary time. So we’re not going to run around doing negative ads. We’re going to keep it positive.”

The president said today that his positive campaigning in the fall would explain how he’ll get the economy “going full guns” in his second term.

“There is going to be  . . . the need for voters in these swing states to know not just what they’re voting against but also what they’re voting for,” he said. “And so we’ll be spending a lot of time talking about the specific agenda that I intend to pursue in the second term — which I think will make sure that this economy is going full guns.”

Obama seemed confident that the negative ads have worked, though. “So [the] upshot is if the election were held today, I think it would be close  but I think we’d win,” he said.

GDANSK, Poland—Mitt Romney will return his attention to economic issues during the final stop of his foreign tour in Poland, after drawing criticism Monday from Palestinians who said they found offensive his remarks about their standard of living.

The presumptive GOP presidential nominee plans a speech lauding Poland’s relatively robust growth and spotlighting how a Romney presidency would tighten ties with the central European country—moves that could boost his standing with Polish-American voters.

Mr. Romney met former President Lech Walesa Monday in Gdansk and departed with the equivalent of an endorsement. “I wish you to be successful, because this success is needed to the United States, of course, but to Europe and the rest of the world, too,” Mr. Walesa said through a translator.

Mr. Walesa snubbed President Barack Obama by refusing to meet with him in Poland last year and has previously said Mr. Obama “doesn’t suit me.”

Still, Mr. Walesa said Mr. Romney had some work to do to win the presidency. Charisma is something Mr. Romney “doesn’t really yet have, but he’s very observant. He gets it fast and draws conclusions, which means he has all the traits of a good leader. But he still needs to do some rallying,” Mr. Walesa told news channel TVN24 after his meeting with Mr. Romney.

Earlier, before he departed Israel, Mr. Romney pointed out Israel’s brighter economic prospects compared with its Palestinian neighbors and suggested culture may have something to do with Israel’s success.

“As you come here and you see the GDP per capita, for instance, in Israel which is about $21,000, and compare that with the GDP per capita just across the areas managed by the Palestinian Authority, which is more like $10,000 per capita, you notice such a dramatically stark difference in economic vitality,” he told a group of donors gathered at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem. He added: “And that is also between other countries that are near or next to each other: Chile and Ecuador, Mexico and the United States.”

But Mr. Romney’s figures underestimated the actual gap between the economies. Per capita gross domestic product stood at $31,400 for Israel last year, while Palestinians’ per capita GDP was $1,500 in 2010, according to an April 2012 World Bank report, which attributed the figure to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics.

Hanan Ashrawi, a Palestinian legislator and a top official in the Palestine Liberation Organization, and other Palestinians said Mr. Romney failed to note their lack of sovereignty and limitations enforced by Israeli military authorities. “If he checked his facts, he would know why the Palestinians actually have to build an economy when they have no freedom of movement, no human rights, no fundamental freedoms,” she said.

The Romney campaign said Mr. Romney frequently talks about disparities between bordering nations. “This was not, in any way, an attempt to slight the Palestinians,” said Stuart Stevens, the Romney campaign’s chief strategist.

Jen Psaki, a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, noted that Mr. Romney also created waves in England when he questioned the preparations for the London Olympics: “He’s had two countries where he’s made a series of fumbles…This raises some questions about his preparedness.”

Mr. Romney hasn’t shied away from his support for Israel. He called Jerusalem the capital of Israel in a speech Sunday evening, prompting Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat to denounce the comment as “unacceptable.” Jerusalem isn’t internationally recognized as the capital because of disagreement over sovereignty in East Jerusalem, parts of the city captured in 1967 that the Palestinians claim as the capital  of their future state. Mr. Romney has also signaled a tougher approach to Iran’s nuclear ambitions, telling Israelis on Sunday that “no option should be excluded.”

During his visit to Israel, Mr. Romney didn’t meet with Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian National Authority, but he did meet with the Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. While he spoke publicly about Middle East issues with Israeli leaders, he and Mr. Fayyad mainly stuck to the Olympics.

Mr. Romney will return to his primary focus, the economy, in his speech on Tuesday.

The Polish economy grew 4.3% in 2011—though it has slowed this year—and Poland was the only country in the European Union to dodge the effects of the 2008 financial crisis. It has been buoyed by domestic consumption and increasing exports. Romney campaign aides also are fond of the country’s budget narrative: Amid rising deficits, officials cut government spending, and the economy is still growing. Mr. Romney regularly warns that ballooning U.S. budget deficits are sure to harm America’s long-term prosperity.

Mr. Romney also met with Prime Minister Donald Tusk and continues his meetings with dignitaries Tuesday. He may be greeted with more skepticism from other Polish leaders, particularly his declaration that Russia is a top “geopolitical foe” of the U.S. The Polish government has worked to thaw its historically tense relationship with Russia by emphasizing cooperation.

“They are certainly worried about Russia, but I don’t think they want to see us return to a new Cold War,” said Stephen Flanagan, a defense and national security expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. “I’m not sure what the Poles are looking for is a tougher line on Russia. They’re looking for more attention from Washington.”

By most accounts, Mitt Romney hit it out of the park yesterday in his speech before the Jerusalem Foundation. Daniel Pipes called it “a stem winder” and “remarkable.” Barry Rubin sensed Romney’s sincerity:

Speaking to an often-cheering group of about 400 people in Jerusalem, Governor Mitt Romney gave a speech less notable for what he said than for the fact that the audience believed he was sincere in saying it.

At a beautiful outdoor setting with the Old City in the background, Romney declared his strong support for Israel, using phrases often heard from American presidents. He also proclaimed his view that Jerusalem is Israel’s eternal capital. The difference, of course, is that those listening were less inclined to think that when President Barack Obama said similar things to AIPAC meetings he was describing his own views and policies.

In a glowing editorial from the Jerusalem Post, the editors make it clear who is a “true friend of Israel”:

Mitt Romney, who is taking the time to visit us at the moment, and who time and again has spoken out strongly for Israel’s rights to safeguard our own interests.

On the other hand, incumbent candidate US President Barack Obama has all but adopted the Palestinian negotiation position and given Israel the cold shoulder on every possible occasion.

Romney has decided to visit us just three short months before the most important election of his life.

By coming here, Romney is indicating to his Israeli friends his deep commitment to the State of Israel and the importance that he places on his with the Jewish people.

Not only is the governor taking the time to visit the Jewish state in the midst of his campaign, but he has also stated repeatedly that should he win the presidency, his first official trip abroad would be to Israel. It is these types of pledges – along with his steadfast statements affirming Israel’s right to defend itself from all threats, both near and far – that is convincing so many Democratic pro-Israel voters to switch sides and vote for the Republican candidate in the upcoming election.

Obama, on the other hand, has been anything but resolute in his support for Israel since he was elected in 2008. In his now infamous Cairo Speech, the president put the onus of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict squarely on the shoulders of what was once America’s only true ally in the Middle East.

When later pressuring Israel into the ill-advised freeze, Obama was the main reason that for the first time since the establishments of the State of Israel, that Jews were outlawed from homes in their historic homeland.

Romney’s speech in Jerusalem will likely not win him many Jewish votes at home. Jews are a traditional Democratic constituency, and while the Republican candidate will probably do better in 2012 with the Jewish vote than John McCain managed in 2008 (78-22 for Obama), the difference won’t be significant enough to win him any states.

Comment:   I viewed most of the speech.    Mitt Romney spoke carefully with clear meaning and meaningful dedication.  The was emnently presidential…….and I look forward to his first day in office when he begins clearing out the Obama incompetents.

Sandusky Abused Children, NCAA Abuses History

One of the NCAA’s punishments of Penn State was the vacating of all its football team’s wins from 1998 through 2011. It was in 1998 that Penn State coach Joe Paterno and university officials became aware of the accusation that assistant coach Jerry Sandusky had showered with a young boy.

As a result, Penn State’s 112 wins are no longer wins, and Joe Paterno is no longer the coach with the most wins in college football history. Instead of 409 victories, his record shows 298.

Before explaining why this decision is morally wrong, I should note that I consider what Jerry Sandusky did to be an indescribable evil. I recognize that Joe Paterno and the university officials enabled this evil to continue. And I do not take issue with the other NCAA punishments of Penn State.

But it is worrisome that there has been virtually no outcry against the terrible wrong committed by the NCAA’s rewrite of history.

Unless Joe Paterno and/or Penn State won those 112 games illegally or immorally, they are wins. No amount of wrongdoing by anyone at Penn State allows anyone to change history. This is another example of how the road to hell is paved with good intentions — in this case, punishing Penn State and teaching everyone how terrible covering up child abuse is.

In our generation, we have seen truth not merely reduced as a value; it has been more or less removed from the list of virtues. History is increasingly what politically correct people want it to be.

In California, the country’s largest purchaser of school texts, elementary and high school students, by law, must learn about the contributions to California and America of women, African Americans, Mexican Americans, entrepreneurs, Asian Americans, European Americans, American Indians and labor. This year, the California legislature passed another law — the Fair, Accurate, Inclusive and Respectful Education Act — which mandates teaching the contributions of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people.

That American history is dominated by the contributions of White Anglo-Saxon Protestant males is irrelevant to all those who see history as a feel-good exercise, not the relating of what actually occurred. As the 325,000-member California Teachers Association, which has contributed so mightily to the decline of education in California, said in support of the LGBT bill: “We believe that school curriculum materials should adequately portray the diversity of our society.”

In other words, according to California’s teachers, the purpose of education is not to teach truth, it is to “adequately portray the diversity of our society.”

In defending the new California law, Dean Vogel, president of the California Teachers Association, said, “There is no room for discrimination of any kind in our classrooms, our communities or our state.”

But, by definition, history does discriminate. A history of classical music will discriminate in favor of Austrians and Germans. A history of jazz will discriminate in favor of blacks. And a history of the founding of America will discriminate in favor of WASP males. Otherwise they are not histories.

Whatever evil Joe Paterno and Penn State officials failed to stop, the 112 wins are wins.

Where will the NCAA draw its line? What other wrongs that have nothing to do with victories on the playing field will the NCAA nullify?

The lesson the NCAA is teaching young people — that history and truth don’t matter if enough powerful people don’t want them to matter — can be as injurious to society as the cover up was to the victims of Sandusky.

And not only to society. To individuals as well.

Thanks to the NCAA history rewrite, all those completely innocent Penn State football players who played their hearts out to win those 112 games, played for naught. The false NCAA history will record that they never won a game.

And what about the impact on former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden, who is now listed as the winningest coach in American college football history? Until the NCAA revision of history, he had the rather impressive title of second-most winning coach in American college football history. Now, he will be dogged by a permanent, though unwritten, asterisk next to his name.

If, as the NCAA report charges, Penn State’s silence spoke volumes about Penn State’s culture, what does America’s silence in the face of the NCAA falsification of history say about ours?

The Dennis Debate on the Hannity Show last week

Last Thursday Dennis Prager appeared on Fox Cable on the Sean Hannity Show. 

Modern fascistic  Democrat mayors,  including Rahm Emanuel,  Obama’s right hand man in the White House for the past three years,  were outraged that a Christian owned chicken speacialty franchise restaurant made public their opposition to gay marriage.

In true  fascist tradition they bloviated ;ublicly, that they would not allow such a vile, bigotted business to enter their communities.     This, apparently,  is the modern American manner  of decision-making in the Marxist party groups led by president Barack Obama.    Has America sunc that far?

Dennis was pitted against a fast mouthed gay activist lefty reporter, Chris Hahn……which means there is very little, if any debate for a rational well educated, reasonable, exceedingly skilled teacher, speaker, and debator such  as good guy,  Dennis Prager.    Dennis speaks English in the debate;  Chris an agressive hysterical gibberish at chimpanzee pitch.

If ever there is a better example of the right and left in debate, please expose it.   In  American it has become the rational against the loony hysterical left……nearly every time.

We in America live in dangerous times.

Remembering the Chesterton people, but How is it Possible to Discuss Matters with Today’s LEFT?

“Always arguing, never quarreling”

[ excerpted from "A Decade of Deep Delight," an editorial by American Chesterton Society president Dale Ahlquist in, and commemorating the 10th anniversary of, Gilbert Magazine, the publication of The American Chesterton Society.]

“. . .By being devoted to Chesterton and his ideas, we have often faced the accusation — as did the man himself — of being narrow or of being on the fringe. But our defense is the same as his: we are not eccentric. We represent the central ideas of civilization: family, faith, and friendship. The normal and human ideals remain birth instead of contraception or abortion; natural death instead of suicide or physician-assisted murder; marriage instead of a revolving door of divorce or homosexual mockery; freedom instead of coercion; self-government instead of Big Government; taking care of one’s own property instead of taking care of someone else’s property; science as a tool or a toy instead of a materialistic philosophy; education as truth passed from one generation to another instead of as state-sponsored indoctrination; beauty instead of ugliness; tradition instead of faddism; laughter instead of sneering; hope instead of despair, and finally, faith in God and Christ instead of endless doubt, relativistic tolerance, or nirvana.

“These normal things are worth fighting for. And one of the things we have learned in our own battles is that fighting is fun. Fighting does not mean one cannot be courteous. But courtesy does not mean praising the errors of our opponents or celebrating the defeat of everything we believe in. Courtesy means treating our opponents with respect despite our disagreement, and maintaining the fight with them because their victory would mean even worse things for them than for us. We fight as a matter of charity.

“We fight the feminization of the culture that tries to suppress fighting. We fight the mechanization of the culture that tries to suppress creativity. We fight the sexualization of the culture that tries to suppress creation itself. We fight the secularization of the culture that tries to suppress the Creator.

“And sometimes we may even fight you. Sometimes you might disagree with us. We hope on those rare occasions that you will stay and argue rather than run away. Come, let us reason together. ‘Always arguing, never quarreling.’ ” . . .

Comment:   My, how intellectually empty and savage the American Left has become.   How can one converse, share thoughts, much less argue when in return one is cursed, called names,  and discarded as  a bigot?

Comment:  I have looked far and wide on the internet regarding  this alleged gaffe by Governor Romney, for I did hear his words on the day the media, including frothing Charles Krauthammer, convulsed over the remarks?

Where in hell is the gaffe.    An honest man answered the question honestly.   Even my intellectual hero, Krauthammer played Obamapress on this one.

Mitt Romney has begun an overseas trip meant to burnish his foreign policy credentials, but his first day veered severely off-script. His visit to London yesterday offered an opportunity to highlight his experience turning around the 2002 Winter Olympics in Utah. Instead, Romney caused a diplomatic incident that snowballed as the day went on. NPR’s Ari Shapiro reports.

ARI SHAPIRO, BYLINE: Mitt Romney’s schedule for this trip was meticulously planned to portray Romney as a statesman fluent on the world stage – no formal speeches or unscripted news conferences, just six back-to-back photo ops.

MITT ROMNEY: Well, I’ll see a swimming event.

SHAPIRO: But things went astray before Romney even touched down. A British newspaper quoted anonymous Romney aides, saying, quote, “We are part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage, and he feels that the special relationship is special.” When people suggested that the quote had racist overtones, the Romney campaign strongly denied it. Then Romney landed in England, and things got worse. In an interview, NBC’s Brian Williams asked how Romney expects the Games to go.

(SOUNDBITE OF NBC BROADCAST)

ROMNEY: You know, it’s hard to know just how well it will turn out. There were a few things that were disconcerting – stories about the private security firm not having enough people, a supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials. That, obviously, is not something which is encouraging.

SHAPIRO: For any country, putting on the Olympics is a major point of national pride. To Brits, Romney’s comments felt like a poke in the eye. The headline on the Guardian newspaper’s website read: Mitt Romney’s Olympics Gaffe Stuns U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron, who had rolled out the red carpet for Romney, defended his homeland against the slight.

PRIME MINISTER DAVID CAMERON: We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active bustling cities anywhere in the world. I mean, of course it’s easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere.

SHAPIRO: The mayor of Salt Lake City was not pleased with that comment. Later in the day, Romney dialed back his criticism of the London Games.

ROMNEY: Of course, there will be errors from time to time, but those are all overshadowed by the extraordinary demonstrations of courage, character and determination by the athletes.

SHAPIRO: Cameron joined in the peace-making effort after meeting with Romney.

CAMERON: Well, what Mitt Romney said to me is that he thought it looked extremely well-organized. The venues look good. The country is well-prepared. He ran a successful Olympic Games in his own country, and I think he’s very much looking forward to going to see some of the events here.

SHAPIRO: But by that point, Romney had already become a punching bag and a punch line for London Mayor Boris Johnson. Johnson addressed tens of thousands of people in Hyde Park at the end of the Olympic torch relay.

MAYOR BORIS JOHNSON: There are some people who are coming from around the world who don’t yet know about all the preparations we’ve done to get London ready in the last seven years. I hear there’s a guy called Mitt Romney who wants to know whether we’re ready. He wants to know whether we’re ready. Are we ready? Are we ready? Yes, we are.

SHAPIRO: Romney’s Olympic gaffe was not his only misstep yesterday. After one meeting, he told reporters…

ROMNEY: I can only say that I appreciated the insights and perspectives of the leaders of the government here and opposition here, as well as the head of MI6.

SHAPIRO: Romney’s meeting with the head of MI6, Britain’s spy agency, was not on the public schedule. Such meetings are generally secret, and this slip-up comes just a few days after Romney bashed President Obama for leaking American national security secrets. After Romney revealed that he had met with the head of the MI6, neither the British government nor the Romney campaign would confirm that the meeting took place.  Dodging reporters, fearing his base, hiding his taxes—is Mitt Romney just too insecure to be president? In Newsweek, Michael Tomasky surveys a history of presidential manliness and asks just where Mitt would fit amid the studly swagger of Dubya and Reagan.

 

One of the many disease from which Barack Obama and his Marxist associates suffer such as dishonesty, duplicitousness, deviousness, divisiveness, anti Americanism with racist tendencies,  projecting their own evil nature and habits upon their opponents probably leads the list.

The most intolerant, the most racist , the most greedy, the most dishonest, the most unAmerican people in American are leftwingers deviants  just like Obama.

 

Mr. Obama’s most precious gift is his ability to be a con artist…….the wimpy kind who blabs a good story, but has no backbone to take a chance to solve any problems.    There are those who believe he isn’t as incompetent as he is.   These folks claim he is so sharp, and so Marxist, he is plotting America’s demise, by causing the nation’s financial collapse.
