Mitch Pearlstein Ponders the Handel’s Messiah and Today’s Marxist Public Schools

Mitch Pearlstein of the American Experiment Remembers “the Messiah” by Handel:

“Along with much of the rest of the world, I heard portions of Handel’s magnificent “Messiah” this past Holy Week. I first listened to it in a serious way a half-century ago when, along with other tone-challenged teenagers representing a variety of non-Christian and Christian faiths, I sang parts of it in a music class at Far Rockaway H.S. in Queens. I vaguely recall that the teacher was a “Mr. Ruff,” who actually was quite compassionate as he explained how the only difference between boys sounding like Gordon McRae and those who still screeching like Tiny Tim was but a sliver of heft in one’s vocal cords.

What I more vividly remember are many of the lyrics to the “Messiah.” Not the parts where “Christ” is mentioned, as I don’t think we sang those, but certainly lines such as “And He shall reign for ever and ever” and “For the lord God omnipotent reigneth.” Keep in mind we sang them in a public school.

In similar spirit, and as I’ve recounted previously, when I was a third or fourth grader at a mostly Jewish public elementary school in another part of the Rockaways, we had an Easter-themed assembly program in which my classmates and I paraded on stage, all dressed up, singing secular songs like Irving Berlin’s “Easter Parade.” If any parents – be they Jewish or Christian – were offended by Jewish kids implicitly celebrating the resurrection of Jesus, I don’t recall any hint of it. A lot of parents were in the audience, by the way, taking lots of photos.

I cite these two events because I wonder if either would be possible these days, be it in New York City, the Twin Cities, or most other places across the nation. I’ve argued they would not – or at least they would be trickier to pull off – as they likely wouldn’t be viewed as right kinds of multiculturalism by great numbers of administrators, teachers, and other multicultural champions. To be blunt about it, one reason such programs wouldn’t be embraced as proper multicultural fare is because they’re too Christian. Given how religion was implicated in each instance, I’ve also assumed (I say this with all respect) the ACLU would have their undies in litigious bunches within micro-moments.

So a question for all, but especially educators, as I do want to get a better sense: Could you imagine religiously flavored activities like these two now taking place in any public school you’re familiar with? If not, why not?”

Mark Waldeland sent the above article.

Note by Glenn: I am nearly a generation older than Mr. Pearlstein, I am guessing. The largest minority in my neighborhood where I was raised was Jewish. We all attended a crowded public elementary school. It was war time. No one had any money. We even bought our own textbooks.

Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus was sung at my Lutheran Church every Easter…I was in the children’s choir which added more sweetness to the scene rather than power. Nevertheless, I loved the uplifting I felt everytime we sang. It was and remains among the most beautiful music I had ever heard.

One should often ask why such exquisite noise can no longer be composed or even heard in modern society. In today’s Marxist America if something is beautiful, it suggests something is less beautiful…and that cannot be allowed in a culture that is programmed to be ‘equal’….

The modern university is a killer of  all creative, classically beautiful art.

For the past month I have added the entire Oratorio to my daily routine which overpowers me for more than an hour every day I hear it in its entirety.

We, children and adults, were often chilled with uplifting particularly after the Battle of Midway in June, 1942. Being wartime with life and death of family members on the line everyday, experiencing spiritual uplifting was essential in our and our neighbor’s families’ lives. Good news from the Europe and the Pacific was usually accented by great music for spiritual connections.

How About Ending Black, that is LEFTY Black Racism in America!!!!

Black racism historically has been a fruit of the American Leftwing. It is relatively new to the American experience. There have been black racist and other fanatic groups, without question. But, none have had such wide acceptance as today when it dominates the American political scene.

Todays Americans are made ignorant of the Jim Jones Jonestown Marxist insanity of a couple of decades ago.

Learning knowledge generally doesn’t occur as education today…..Our younger generations are feminized, programmed into the tunes of feelings….the single human female’s reason for being lefty.

Racist politics and its racist vileness is ubiquitously hateful toward conservative whites. This racism is taught at universities in the Hate Studies Departments as well as in the general social sciences. Instructors are political and behavioral carbon copies of one another. They are very successful in their goals when even Charles Krauthammer suckers in to bleating hateful words against Cliven Bundy at Fox News this evening.

Hate whitey has been in the American academic culture for the past half century. Its lies and deceptions have been accepted as a normal condition of American life…..

Black Racism….which until recently has been generated mostly by Lefty collegiate whites, is a sickness that goes forever unchallenged.

Cliven Bundy is a great American if he can bring to light this present American sickness caused mostly by people in education, politics, and the press I call Obamalings. Mr. Bundy may not realize what he has stirred, for he is most likely not a racist at all, just another guy who works for a living.

Mr. Bundy is an aging American asking a thoughtful question. How about discussing the question instead of crippling the old man who mentioned the wondering?

Please view the following video…illustrating young America at a leftist ‘best’.

Where is the racism in the Bundy statement below?

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” Bundy said Saturday, according to the Times, “and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.”

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he continued. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

The Times reported that Bundy made the remarks during a daily news conference that “drew one reporter and one photographer” and which Bundy turned into “what was in effect a town meeting with supporters.”

Lawmakers who have in the past voiced their support for the rancher, including Sens. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.), quickly distanced themselves from the comments.

“Senator Heller completely disagrees with Mr. Bundy’s appalling and racist statements, and condemns them in the most strenuous way,” Heller’s spokesman told the Times in an email.

Paul’s spokesman said in a statement to Business Insider: “His remarks on race are offensive and I wholeheartedly disagree with him.”

Bundy, Paul and Heller did not immediately respond to TheBlaze’s request for comment.

Where’s the Cliven Bundy Racism?

I am still searching for Cliven Bundy’s racism.

The following from realclearpolitics is a section from an article titled: “Nevada Rancher Condemned for Racist Remarks”.

Establishment Americans in the news industry are united in condemning Mr. Bundy for his racist remarks…

“Bundy was quoted in a Times story referring to black people as “the Negro” and recalling a time when he drove past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas and saw black people who “didn’t have nothing to do.”

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

The following is the youtube video of Mr. Bundy’s remarks. Admittedly he does not possess the sly and smooth vocabulary of a Barack Obama, but he is an American offering a thought…..which could be discussed and debated honorably in a free society.

But NOT in today’s fascist Politically Correct America whose ministers both left and right have been programmed to smear the Cliven Bundy’s of America making a proper, thoughtful point with the stain of racism….the white kind. Blacks in this fascistic society are censored with no such assassinations. Daily in news and television the Al Sharptons smear whites about the history and intentions of anyone and everyone not in lock step, Nazi-like, with the university and college programmed racial bigotries.

(My what an evil man to have such questions in mind!)

The following is another “ALERT” on the Bundy “Racism” according to the Blaze:

Are Today’s Americans Unable To Listen to Cliven Bundy’s Words?

Whether lefty American, who, like Mr. Obama never seems to tolerate words other than his own, or even some college-educated conservatives of all sexes and races in command of television and newspaper appearances, these traditional opponents seem to have finally come to agree to hate and dismiss something, or someone in common.

Today Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy has brought peace to these foes causing them to become equally intolerant, Obamaling style. Both crowds crowed Bundy’s words were too insulting, too extreme, too unmentionably racist for the American public. All are in a snit.

Mr. Bundy recently made a statement or two in public about the nature of contemporary urban black American culture and condition of life. Presently, I am seeking his actual original statement as well as his words of his explanation of his ‘query’.

I am a fan of Charles Krauthammer and enjoy his thinking during the news hour on cable fox. Even Charles joined the mindless and missed a tremendous opportunity to be Charles Krauthammer at his very best….(Which he almost always is, by the way. My guess is that Charles had not actually heard Mr. Bundy’s original statement….and neither have I at this point.

I have thus far heard and read only interpretations and selected quotes made by Bundy, bits and pieces of hard core stuff, but even these statements which have sent otherwise intelligent conservative folks to make gestures and noises like the Al Sharpton black racist gangs and Obamaling Marxist crowds of fascist fanatics are not much beyond an opportunity for rational discussion and thought.

Not possible in today’s America with Political Correctness the Stalinist Censor of the Land so damaging to both the Left and the Right and all of America in their ability to listen and think.

Listen to Cliven Bundy’s basic question comparing 19th century Alabama or Virginia slave life with urban modern black culture of today. That is a worthy issue for discussion…..There is nothing, nothing racist regarding any of the words or concepts Bundy offered in his question as far as I know at this point from the wordings I have heard and read thus far. I shall be following up on this story for more information.

Mr. Bundy should not be allowed to fade away under the bigotry preached at American colleges and universities to forbid ideas from reaching rational discussion.

I shall be looking for the proof of Cliven Bundy’s white racism alleged by Charles Krauthammer and others at Fox in his recent statements…..How about you doing the same?

Below is one article frome the Lefty L.A. Times with an established conclusion regarding the words of citizen bundy:

Read the following reporting. Note the title: NEVADA RANCHER CONDEMNED FOR RACIST REMARKS. (Be certain to look for the “Racist Remarks”.)

WHAT IN THE ABOVE INTERPRETATION OF BUNDY’S REMARKS IS FALSE….UNTRUE? It seems Mr. Bundy is wondering if slavery had some advantages over the familylessness, the fatherlessness, the violence, and purposelessness of much in urban black American culture.

What is racist about the above? I used to teach Modern Problems to seniors in high school forty years ago. In a free American society Mr. Bundy’s comments would be a terrific topic of ‘free’ and ‘honorable’ expression of a thinking guy…not a racist one.

I am still looking for the racism! Where is it?

George Will Calls Obama the Adolescent President

In the article below written by George Will at the Washington Post the headline reads:

“Adolescent” yes, absolutely yes, but an adolescent generally is not as evil as this ‘foreigner’ president….not as influencial, as conniving, as evil.

An adolescent is too young to know enough to plot real evil.

This president is more collegiate…..he had never been out of a school room before his racist experiences as a community organizer. As president he is acting as a Marxist professor preaching to the suckers in his coast to coast classroom.

Yet, adolescent isn’t too bad a term to describe Mr. Obama’s maturity…..intellectual and spiritual.

George Will on Obama’s adolescence:

Obama to Free 200,000 Felons from Country’s Prisons

Is Obama begging for more “ex-felon” Democrat votes in November?

Why is Congress allowing this Obama Marxist to continue to usurp the American Constitution? This impending directive must be challenged in the courts.

Charles Krauthammer in a video at realclearpolitics reviews the Obama dictate to usurp the authority of the American court and legislative systems by freeing an army of 200,000 felons, most of whom will likely continue their felonious habits:

Krauthammer on Clemency: Obama is “Eroding the law in a systematic way time after time!”

KRAUTHAMMER: It’s not just he’s negligent in executing his job. He’s being unconstitutional and if it becomes a habit, which it’s becoming and that’s the problem, it’s going to establish a principle that a Republican will come into office and he’ll say, ‘You know, I campaigned against capital gains taxes, so I’m going to order the FBI not to collect it.’ That’s not how you do it. If that were to happen, you could be sure that the liberals would be screaming about how —

Feminist “Justice” Sotomayor “Feels” Support for Court Racism

Something in archfeminist “Justice” Sonia Sotomayor’s past made absent a certain basic rule of democracy:

The archfeminist advertises the following sexist theme at MSNBC by attacking fellow Supreme Court members who have a more American view of life:

Lefty Mark Pryor of Arkansas Worried about Entitlement and His Senate Seat

The average age of Democrats in the U.S. Senate must be close to 100. Some of them, at least their carcases have recently given signs they will not return to their reserved seat in Washington running down the country at the end of this political term.

Chutzpah has always been an ObamaDemocrat talent following, in order of importance, sabotage of the democratic way, dishonesty, black racism, sexism, and Marxism.

Thinking is so yesterday among these Obamaling tribal coalitions. Emotions govern their hatreds, fears, incompetence, and crimes. Their religion, Marxism, insists truth, honesty, knowledge, beauty, positive achievement are all also ‘yesterday’ concepts which must be irradicated from the American mind.

Mark Pryor, a lefty Senator running for re-election in Arkansas, is one of these chutzpah cripples who turn proud when emoting in Obamalese.

Steven Hayward at PowerLine notices Senator Pryor’s Obamalese language in the following article he wrote at PowerLine:

The Cotton Bowl, or Pryor Analytics Epic Fail

You can tell Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor, who owes his office to the fact that his daddy was Senator, is desperate when he accuses Tom Cotton of a sense of “entitlement” to a Senate seat. Who does Pryor think he is—Chelsea Clinton?
