After two months of balking, the Nanaimo City Council in British Columbia finally got around to rescind its move to ban Christians from using the municipal auditorium for being a divisive group. Canada allegedly celebrates civil liberties. Local gay-lesbian group had pushed for the ban which passed by an 8-1 vote on an impromptu vote to cancel a contract with a Christian leadership conference group only days before the event was to take place.
Ezra Levant, a journalist victimized by Canadian censors banning criticisms of blood baths and other crimes against humanity by Muslim extremists, became a pivotal figure in forcing the Council’s change of vote. The Christian opponents on the Council seemed surprised at the fuss the ban stirred. The mayor even claimed he had no intention of upsetting anyone by supporting the ban demanded by the gay-lesbian group.
