Obamaland’s Fascist War Against Hillsdale College

College Scorecard: No College Left Behind?

from the National Center for Policy Analysis:

When the Education Department earlier this month released its College Scorecard — a data tool that replaces President Obama’s original plan to assign ratings to schools –everal colleges weren’t included.

According to the online scorecard, Hillsdale College, an accredited liberal-arts college in Michigan, doesn’t exist. A reporter for the campus newspaper called the Education Department to ask for an explanation. Denise Horn, assistant press secretary, told her: “Hillsdale does offer bachelor’s degrees; however…the plurality of degrees it awards are certificates.”

The only problem with that excuse is that Hillsdale does not offer any certificates for academic credit.

  • Hillsdale College issues four-year undergraduate degrees in 31 disciplines as well as postgraduate degrees.
  • Hillsdale, the first U.S. college to prohibit by charter discrimination based on race or sex, refuses to count students by skin color.
  • The only other schools notably absent from the scorecard are the handful that join Hillsdale in forgoing federal funding, including Grove City College in Pennsylvania.

A more plausible explanation for the government’s exclusion of Hillsdale: The college doesn’t accept any form of taxpayer assistance, and it doesn’t participate in Title IV federal financial-aid programs and the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data Systems, which require institutions to track and report racial demographics.

If the Education Department means to create a useful website, then it should include all four-year colleges, not just the government’s financial dependents.

Dodd Frank Curse Hurts Small Business, or have you forgotten?

Dodd-Frank Harms Main Street

from the National Center for Policy Analysis:

Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act — popularly known as Dodd-Frank named after its main sponsors — were intended to protect Main Street and consumers from financial predation by Wall Street. Instead, the law has reduced access to credit for small businesses and has resulted in fewer choices for consumers, while doing little to punish the main culprits in the financial crisis.

Officials sold the Dodd-Frank Act to the American people as promoting financial soundness and stability by reining in Wall Street and the big banks. Instead, much of Dodd-Frank is a broad enabling act granting power to executive-agency bureaucrats to write specific regulations outside the checks-and-balances oversight governing the rest of the federal government.

Dodd-Frank raises the price of insurance. An April 2013 study by the consultancy Oliver Wyman found that the OLA would raise consumers’ aggregate life insurance premiums $3 billion to $8 billion a year, with the bulk affecting retirees.
Dodd-Frank reduces the number of banks. Two thousand community banks and credit unions have closed or merged since 2010, with community banks being hit hardest.
Dodd-Frank raises user fees. The average minimum monthly holding requirement for no-fee banking tripled from $250 to $750. These fee increases made the banking system too expensive for about a million people, largely from the poorest sectors of society.
Many of the rules issued under Dodd-Frank have harmed some of the poorest Americans, who have seen their insurance made more expensive, their banking choices reduced and their bank fees increased. The rules have forced many out of the banking system altogether, thanks to Dodd-Frank’s “consumer protection” provisions. In the meantime, the bankers of Wall Street can sleep easy knowing that they can raise capital more cheaply, and regulators know that a good, high-paying job awaits them in compliance departments there.

Why Ben Carson Scares the Media

WHY CARSON SCARES THE MEDIA

It has nothing to do with Muslims, guns, or the Holocaust

by David Catron  at the American Spectator:

“The media, having failed to stop Ben Carson’s steady rise in popularity by treating him like Ralph Ellison’s “invisible man,” are now going nuclear on him. The number of press attacks launched on Carson has recently increased exponentially. And, significantly, the barrage has been far more vicious than any criticism directed at Donald Trump or the other GOP presidential aspirants. The GQ assault titled “F*ck Ben Carson” is only exceptional for its vulgarity. Countless columns, articles, broadcasts and blog posts have portrayed him as “stupid,” “insane,” and even “racist.” The media clearly fear Carson more than the other Republicans. Why?

The answer is in the latest polls of registered voters. It’s not just that Carson has closed the gap on Donald Trump in the race for the GOP nomination. What really scares the media is that, in hypothetical general election match-ups, Carson consistently beats the probable Democrat nominee—Hillary Clinton. According to Real Clear Politics, most surveys of registered voters conducted since the beginning of September show Clintonlosing to Carson in the general election. One shows Carson winning by 7 points. The opposite is true for Trump. Most polls covering the same time period show Clintonbeating “the Donald” with ease.

This would be less frightening to the “reporters” of the MSM if their 24/7 coverage of Trump had been successful in preventing him from being overtaken by Carson in the race for the Republican nomination. The latest Fairleigh Dickenson survey of registered voters, released last Thursday, shows Carson at 22 percent with Trump clinging to 26 percent. The findings of this survey are consistent with other respected polls. In fact, a recent survey from IBD/TIPP—which enjoys a stellar reputation for accuracy—showedCarson 7 points ahead of Trump. A recent NBC/WSJ survey showed the two candidates in a statistical tie for the lead.

All of which means that it is becoming increasingly plausible that Carson will beat Trump in the race for the GOP presidential nomination, and that he will go on to defeat Hillary Clinton in the general election.” Please continue reading…….http://spectator.org/articles/64323/why-carson-scares-media

The Disappearing of good man, Marco Rubio with the unexpected arrival of Donald

Of the herd of Republicans still showing up on television as “candidates” for the American presidency, my favorites  by far are Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz, and the departed from the scene, Scott Walker.   The rest are pretenders and/or has beens.

I have followed American politics quite closely since and including the energy-gifted  Harry Truman’s surprising defeat of Thomas Dewey, the boring, energyless Republican Governor of New York.  Politics because of the importance  of  Party  conventions in those days was often like watching the Super Bowl on television.   The battle between Robert Taft and Dwight Eisenhower went down to the wire at the Republican show in 1952.

I have never intended to like Donald Trump for anything.   Caricatures of Hollywood-type business tycoons have never made it to my hungry soul even when I voted Democrat  and once,  worse,  for the first six presidential elections of my life…..which includes two embarrassments still eating at me, voting for Jimmy Carter and George McGovern.   (I voted for a third party socialist  in 1960 while in my muddier years of graduate school  at the University of Minnesota).

Forced equality by sharing the wealth (actually the buying of votes)  seemed like a good idea in those greener days at university, the ones experienced before becoming an adult.

Ted Cruz sincerely represents the traditional American seeking to rekindle  American ideals, a true thinker attempting to steer a sinking ship.   Marco Rubio is young, lucid, steady, articulate,  gifted in order of thought and speech, with a wonderful family story to share.

Today’s soulless, evil, conspiring anti-American Obama moment dismembering our country desperately needs Dr. Ben Carson’s surgery and advice  to heel its cancers in order to rediscover our nation’s rightful God-fearing  purpose.

And then, there is Donald…..may God Bless him…. perhaps until recently, the soulless, wheeler-dealer  Donald Trump of life and yore, who still fights for  his country despite what it has become…..the free and independent human-American, the flawed, bright,  in-ones-face Donald bought by no one….still young enough  to gather real  American energy to save the country he loves…….

and an American, thus far, I have grown to love.

And then there is another good soul,  Marco Rubio:
