Be Of Good Cheer: NY Times Reports “No Crime Wave”

Opinion Board at New York Times:

FALSE ALARMS ABOUT A NATIONAL CRIME WAVE

“The headlines are alarming: Murder is up around the country, caused by anything from more guns to a heroin epidemic to the so-called “Ferguson Effect” — the disputed idea that police officers have become less aggressive out of fear that their actions will be recorded by civilians and criticized after the fact.

As with so many debates about crime in America, it helps to examine the actual numbers.

It is true that in many cities, murders in 2015 are on pace to surpass 2014 totals. In a new analysis of murder and crime rates in the country’s 30 largest cities, the Brennan Center for Justice projected that the average murder rate will be 11 percent higher this year than last. New York City, which had 333 murders in 2014, is predicted to have 357 murders by the end of 2015.

While that is troubling, it is not evidence that America has fallen back into a lawless pit of chaos and death. A more meaningful way of looking at data is comparing it with unmistakable longer-term trends: the rate of violent crime, including murder, has been going down for a quarter century, and is at its lowest in decades. On average, it is half of what it was in 1990, and in some places even lower.

In New York City, for example, murders reached 2,245 in 1990. Even in 2010, the city logged 536 murders, or 50 percent more than this year’s projected total. This long-term decline has been well reported, but increasingly, it is getting overlooked in the rush to identify a new crime wave.”     please read on…..Marxists at the New York Times Opinion Board can always be trusted to be Marxist and wordy as well as hiding  facts such as  killers in America according to relative population are overwhelmingly  black male hoodlums between the age of 15 and 40…..and until the rise of “Black Lives Matter” racist gangs of all sexes and colors, those they have been hoodlumizing are also overwhelmingly black….learning their craft from decades of leftwing propaganda in the NY Times and other like pieces of newspaper:

Leftist Maureen Dowd defers to GOP Brother to Review Presidential Field

Maureen Dowd was likely born leftist human female…..and so, by Nature was programmed  to become  the  star ditz she is  at work with the  leftist New York Times crew.

She is not unbright, merely female, closeted eastern,  and so, a modern lefty writer  without corpuscle and impulse to understand  the essentials of democratic principles based upon knowledge, reason, and truth.

Instead, being a she, she “feels”, at one with  her emotions  essential for her feminism to be  forever female first, forever free from problem solving, and/or facing reality, and so, calls upon her Republican brother to clarify the conservative picture.

She writes her social leftist establishment paragraphs at the New York Times.

(This isn’t the first invasion of her Republican brother’s thoughts on presidential contests.   Ms. Dowd was in a state of shock that second week of November, 2004, when lefty wuss with much mouth,  JFK, the Kerry, one,  failed political elevation to  the White House by losing Ohio.   She turned to the same brother then for clarity  far outside her ability to put into thought and words.   Her feelings left no room for a Kerry defeat, and so called upon her brother for advice how to continue living.)

Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Thanksgiving Proclamation

The following proclamation  was sent by Mark Waldeland:

“By the President of the United States of America

A Proclamation.

The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle or the ship; the axe has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consiousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom. No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things.

They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the United States to be affixed.

Done at the City of Washington, this Third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the United States the Eighty-eighth.

By the President:

Abraham Lincoln”
