North Dakota is NOT Becoming a Toxic Wasteland ala Oval Office Obama

Sorry, Green Warriors: Bakken Oil Production Hasn’t Turned North Dakota Into A Toxic Wasteland

by Matt Vespa  at Townhall.com:

“In North Dakota and parts of eastern Montana, oil and natural gas production from the Bakken shale has increased 1,450 percent, while air quality in those areas remain unchanged from their 2008 levels, according to a study from American Action Forum. At least 90 percent of the air quality days in those regions were classified as “good,” and carbon dioxide emissions declined as well:

As the data reveal, the Bakken region has increased output from 0.08 million barrels per day in January 2008, to 1.16 million by August 2015, a 14.5-fold uptick. During this time, the nation as a whole has also witnessed incredible growth in output. The graph below details U.S. oil production from 2008 to 2014, measured in thousands of barrels a day……

Truth Among the Walrus

THE WALRUS AND THE NEW YORK TIMES

by John Hinderaker  at PowerLine:

This week, we’re featuring images that show how global warming has already impacted the world.

Packed shoulder to shoulder, an estimated 35,000 Pacific walruses congregated on Alaska’s northwest coast near Point Lay last fall. Normally the mammals find ocean ice sheets to rest on, but as waters have warmed the ice sheets have disappeared. In seven of the last nine years swarms of walruses swam ashore for refuge, as shown above, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The first time this happened was in 2007 when summer ice levels were at a record low.
