Minnesota Majority Needs Help!

“Minnesota Majority fights for ordinary Minnesotans, instead of lobbying for big corporations and special interest groups. We use our resources and capabilities to fight for what’s right in state public policy.

This year, we stopped several dangerous bills that would have undermined the integrity of our elections, such as:

  • Felon voting
  • Underage voter registration
  • Removing safeguards against voter coercion and fraud
  • Taking away the right of citizens to elect their county’s chief election officials

Unfortunately, we are critically short on funds to carry on our work.

Please help us carry on with a contribution today: DONATE

Here are some examples of our other recent accomplishments:

  • Successfully sued the governor when he tried to unionize self-employed home-based daycare providers
  • Successfully sued the secretary of state when he tried to unilaterally implement online voter registration and absentee ballot requests… That victory gave us the leverage to implement 7 new security procedures into our election system.
  • Lobbied for cutting down voter vouching and slashed that dubious practice in half.
  • Stopped numerous bad bills dead in their tracks at the Capitol.

Last year, a slew of terrible changes to our election system were brought forward and we were able to stop them all!

Without action from Minnesota Majority’s members, here are some proposals that would likely have become law this year:

  1. Early voting – Allowing vouching to carry on for 15 straight days leading up to Election Day, with next to no opportunity for partisan or citizen oversight.
  2. Felon voting – Allowing convicted murderers, rapists and fraudsters to take a hand in governing the law-abiding before they had even finished paying back their debt to society.
  3. A one-two punch of issuing drivers licenses to illegal aliens and at the same time, creating automatic voter registration for license applicants.
  4. Restricting public access to Election Data – The people whose jobs depend on election results, and who count the votes would be able to keep election records secret, and we’d just have to trust them.
  5. Voter registration for 16-year olds – Seriously. This idea had support in both parties and to top it off, if an underage person actually voted illegally, that data would have been withheld from the public, because, after all, they’re minors.

The omnibus elections bill that was ultimately enacted was a purely technical bill that made long-overdue improvements to our election statutes – changes we’ve been pushing for since 2010. It was amajor victory for election integrity and it wouldn’t have happened without the activism of our members.

Can we count on you? Your contribution of anything from $5 to $5,000 will enable us to continue doing good work for the hard-working families of Minnesota. Anything helps get us closer to our goals.

Thank you so much for helping to make a difference.

Sincerely,
Dan McGrath
president of Minnesota Majority”
