Twila Brase Wants ObamaCare Repealed, not Maneuvered!

What GOP “Repeal”
Bill is Missing
by Twila Brace at Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom

“Houston, we have a problem. Where is the REPEAL in the GOP ‘repeal and replace’ bill? Republicans have won three elections because they promised to repeal Obamacare. Nothing about the latest “repeal and replace” bill is a repeal of Obamacare. It’s essentially the Republican version of Obamacare.

Sure, it repeals almost all the taxes, but not until January 1, 2018. And it repeals the individual and employer mandates, but Republicans add their own version of a mandate, which is also a new entitlement program: refundable tax credits.

Where is the repeal of the section of Obamacare that prohibits affordable catastrophic coverage? How will this bill put consumers and patients in charge instead of health plans and government? How will it lower costs and increase access?

The only thing Americans asked for was repeal. And when this non-repeal bill doesn’t lead to lower costs and greater access, who will be blamed? Republicans.

This bill will not warm the hearts of working Americans hit with impossibly high premiums and dangerously narrow networks. It’s a boon to managed care corporations. It doesn’t even repeal the three programs that redistribute wealth to insurers (reinsurance, risk corridors and risk adjustment), which have led to lawsuits from insurers asking for taxpayer-funded bailouts.

The GOP “American Health Care Act” is a fix-it bill, but it fixes little, causes more problems and does not repeal Obamacare.

There are two choices for a REAL REPEAL bill:

  1. First, introduce a bill to repeal every word of Obamacare and fight it out on the Senate floor to get to 60 votes. Then if Democrats are willing to publicly stand in the way of repeal, Americans will know exactly who to blame;
  2. Second, use a budget reconciliation bill that requires only 51 votes and pile every possible section of Obamacare onto it – just include the index of the law — and then argue with the parliamentarian about what can and cannot be included. Whatever doesn’t get repealed, Americans will still know who’s to blame.

Obamacare was imposed by Democrats. The GOP should not impose their own version of Obamacare, or let the GOP become the fall guy for the failures of Obamacare. Republicans should repeal Obamacare. It’s what they said they’d do. It’s what Americans want. Repeal is simple and straightforward. Just repeal Obamacare — and do it now.

We’re making plans to head to Washington, D.C. with a “Repeal it All, Repeal it Now” message. Time is short and we may have the opportunity to talk to a key member of the Trump Team.”
