The Passing of Hero John McCain

The Only Good Republican?

April 17, 2008 NEA press release: “Like President Bush, who proposed $14.2 billion less than what Congress provided for education during his presidency, McCain’s scheme has shown he is quite willing to mortgage our children’s future.”

June 4, 2008 NEA press release: “You can go down any list of what public school employees believe they need to truly help every child be successful, and you’ll see that Senator Obama supports that list and that Senator McCain not only opposes it, but has probably already voted against it.”

July 17, 2008 NEA press release: “Senator McCain said he is ‘committed to providing the resources needed to succeed,’ but his record says otherwise. He has voted against fully funding No Child Left Behind, voted against college aid programs, voted against school lunch programs, voted against dropout prevention and voted against teacher training programs.”

August 1, 2008 NEA press release: “McCain has shown that under his leadership, America’s children will never achieve the skills necessary to survive in the 21st century…. McCain would rather blame the nation’s public schoolteachers, than work with them to provide true education reform.”

September 5, 2008 NEA press release: “McCain continues attacking teachers instead of delivering an education plan that works.”

September 26, 2008 NEA press release: “”In the midst of the worst economic crisis America has faced since the Great Depression, Sen. John McCain tonight showed that he still does not understand the needs of working Americans.”

October 2, 2008 statement from NEA vice president Lily Eskelsen GarcÍa: “Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin haven’t proposed a single idea to alleviate the anxiety women across the country feel when they sit down at th…….

(I have added the question mark to the title of the above collection of words…..John McCain bears the record for being one of the greatest American heroes for the tortures he endured while held captive in Vietnam….a real hero of the finest order.

My long time friend and one time high school teacher colleague, Mark Waldeland,  sent the above listings of another John McCain….a first class jerk for years as a U.S. Senator and candidate for the presidency in 2000.  Let us assume his awkward crankiness while Senator for centuries, it seemed, was a result of the pains he endured from his  Vietnam torture cell.   May God Bless Him!    ghr)
