Do BLM Racist Dem Rioters Own Minneapolis?

The Minneapolis Public Schools are shutting down next week in anticipation of a verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial:

Minneapolis Public Schools are suspending in-person learning next week as the state awaits a verdict in the murder trial against Derek Chauvin.

Why? In anticipation of riots, looting and arson, presumably:

“Our community is moving through an extraordinarily challenging time as we react to the killing of former MPS student Daunte Wright by a Brooklyn Center police officer, just as testimony in the trial of former officer Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd concludes and the case goes to the jury,” Ed Graff, the district superintendent, wrote to parents.

“We anticipate that a verdict in the Chauvin case could impact in-person learning in Minneapolis Public Schools.”

So the schools will be closed Wednesday through Friday next week. What if the jury hasn’t reached verdict by Friday? Presumably they will stay shut down the following week.

Like so much that is going on these days, this is utter madness. Did the Los Angeles schools close down when the O.J. Simpson jury was deliberating? Not that I remember. Is it really probable that rioters incensed over the Chauvin jury’s verdict (whatever it may be) will attack elementary schools in a fit of rage? Doesn’t seem likely. Or maybe the concern is that students in the older grades will themselves riot and destroy their own schools.

One thing for certain is that school seems increasingly dispensable. It used to be considered important for children to go to school. Covid, which was less serious for young people than the average seasonal flu and yet caused schools to close down across the country, showed how little parents, students and “educators” value learning. The absurdity of a school shutdown in anticipation of a jury verdict is just icing on the cake.

“Whatever Happened to Bill Barr’s Super Cop John Durham?”. A Note From Our American Sentinel on the Gulf

—Whatever Happened to Bill Barr’s Super Cop John Durham?—from America’s cjack on the Gulf:

Ghr, I kept the following “Rush” quips in my archives:

[February 18, 2019]

“With all of the media chatter about Mueller’s investigation and Democrats searching for a smoking gun to put President Trump behind bars, you’d think they would’ve found something by now. Instead, Trump has made his own “jail” announcement.”

‘Quoting radio host Rush Limbaugh, Trump wrote in a paraphrased tweet,’ [“These guys, the investigators, ought to be in jail. What they have done, working with the Obama intelligence agencies, is simply unprecedented.”] ‘Trump is speaking, of course, about Mueller’s team and their own political cover-up. This is what should be investigated.’

Ghr, whatever happened to Bill Barr’s celebrated inspector John Durham’s results of his taxpayer-funded investigation? I tell you, the reticent Durham was all smoke & mirrors; another conman who should reimburse the American taxpayer for defrauding the nation. I assure you even the fumbling “Inspector Clouseau” would have produced a final report and indictments. Ah! why torture ourselves? In Washington, it is all about ‘smoke & mirrors’ games that just go on and on…ad infinitum…

My dear and patriotic brother Ghr in the Tundra, I send you my best wishes and warmest embrace. May the blessings of our Lord be always at your door. May you be restored to wholeness on the blessed Sabbath. Shabbat Shalom

Quinnipiac: Biden underwater on border issues by nearly 2-1

ED MORRISSEY Apr 15, 2021 at HotAir:

How can it be that high, I hear you asking. With the border crisis turning rapidly into a humanitarian catastrophe and the Biden administration barely even paying anything more than lip service about it, Joe Biden’s 29% approval rating in the latest poll from liberal-leaning Quinnipiac seems too generous. In fact, Biden appears to have come out of the honeymoon phase early, with only a +6 overall and low marks in a few policy areas (via Andrew Sullivan):

As President Joe Biden approaches his 100th day in office, he receives a positive 48 – 42 percent job approval rating, with 10 percent not offering an opinion in a Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pea-ack) University national poll of adults released today. This compares to a February 17th poll when 50 percent approved, 38 percent disapproved, and 13 percent didn’t offer an opinion. …

On President Biden’s handling of six issues, the president receives positive scores on three, with the coronavirus response ranking at the top. He receives negative scores on his handling of the situation at the Mexican border and gun policy, and a mixed score on taxes. On Biden’s handling of …

  • the response to the coronavirus: 64 percent of Americans approve, 29 percent disapprove, with 7 percent not offering an opinion;
  • the economy: 50 percent of Americans approve, 42 percent disapprove, with 8 percent not offering an opinion;
  • climate change: 48 percent of Americans approve, 35 percent disapprove, with 17 percent not offering an opinion;
  • taxes: 45 percent of Americans approve, 42 percent disapprove, with 13 percent not offering an opinion;
  • gun policy: 39 percent of Americans approve, 49 percent disapprove, with 11 percent not offering an opinion;
  • the situation at the Mexican border: 29 percent of Americans approve, 55 percent disapprove, with 15 percent not offering an opinion.

The only clear win that Biden has so far is on COVID-19, and that’s mostly because Biden stuck to the Trump administration’s vaccine production and distribution plans. Biden’s been smart enough to follow that, while fibbing about not having vaccines or a distribution plan. His only innovation was the federal vaccination centers, which turned out to be a waste of time, money, and supplies. Even 30% of Republicans give Biden grudging approval for not screwing up the pandemic response, even if his experts can’t keep their stories straight on reopenings and vaccine reliability.

On the border, though, hardly anyone approves of Biden’s work. He gets 58% approval from Democrats and 56% from black voters, which is a damning-with-faint-majority support from Biden’s own party and base. In every other demographic, however, Biden’s approval doesn’t get above 35% (seniors). Among Hispanics, whom Biden courted through his immigration posturing, he gets a 27/55 approval rating on the border. It’s a disaster, and this rating can’t shock anyone who’s paying attention.

Biden’s underwater rating on gun policy might be more of a surprise. Despite — or because of — Biden’s continued pressing for more gun control, he only gets 39% approval. Democrats are more likely to support him there, but only 77/10, perhaps because he hasn’t pressed harder. However, majorities of independents (34/53), men (31/59), Hispanics (33/55), and gun-owning households (28/64) disapprove. That doesn’t look like a result of Biden being too timid on guns. In contrast, his support from urban respondents on this issue is barely above water at 48/41 — suggesting that there may be a lot less appetite for gun control in cities after the wave of violent-crime spikes over the past year.

Biden’s bad performance on the border — both in real terms and in polling — risks erosion of his standing in other areas. It looks like we’re starting to see it already.

Brooklyn Center is the site of the death of Daunte Wright and of the revolution for the hell of it mob that has followed in its wake. A joint law enforcement task force formed for the Derek Chauvin trial has been dispatched to protect the Brooklyn Center Police Department over the past several nights. Brooklyn Center Mayor Michael Elliott has seized the opportunity to take control of city management and the police department. He perfectly represents the leadership class of the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

During an emergency Brooklyn Center city council meeting last night — reported here — Crystal Police Chief Stephanie Revering read a letter to the council, pleading for support which is, shall we say, notable by its absence.

Revering is president of the Hennepin County Chiefs of Police Association. The linked report indicates that the council went into a closed session after the reading of the letter. This is the letter in its entirety:

Mr. Mayor and Council Members,

My name is Stephanie Revering and I am the police chief in the City of Crystal and the current President of the Hennepin County Chiefs of Police Association. I am here tonight to discuss with you the mission and purpose of the West Command Mobile Field Force.

The West Command Mobile Field Force is made up of representative officers from all 27 suburban law enforcement agencies in suburban Hennepin County. The mission of this collaborative team is to provide a rapid deployment of highly trained law enforcement personnel to preserve life, ensure public safety, protect property, and maintain quality of life throughout Greater Hennepin County. This team of officers, and all of the agencies they represent, are very committed to working hard to protect lawful first amendment protests and demonstrations, while ensuring those gatherings remain non-violent and safe for those in attendance.

Over the last 4 nights, while working very hard to protect those who were peacefully protesting and the residents of Brooklyn Center, our officers (along with our partners from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Minnesota DNR, and the Minnesota National Guard) were faced with many dangerous and violent situations. Officers had projectiles and industrial-grade fireworks thrown at them, along with being sprayed with mace and bear spray. A number of these officers, all of whom who have come from outside of Brooklyn Center to help your community, have sustained various levels of injury. As Police Chiefs, we can not stand by and allow our officers to be injured by individuals trying to disrupt your community’s right for peaceful protest. In addition, officers have heard numerous comments by individuals in the crowds suggesting a desire by some to vandalize or burn down the Brooklyn Center Police Department and our officers have been working diligently to protect your community asset.

We remain very committed to the city of Brooklyn Center and your residents and will do everything we can to help your community through these difficult times and to begin the long process ahead of healing, but we are only able to do our part with the unequivocal support of the leaders of this city in our mission as highlighted above. This support includes an understanding that officers, under a unified command structure, must be able to use all tools necessary to accomplish the mission listed above. And it must be understood that these tools may include the judicious use less lethal options to accomplish the mission.

The Hennepin County Chiefs of Police Association implores the Brooklyn Center City Council to support the West Command Mobile Field Force, along with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the other law enforcement partners, in the current unrest occurring within your city. It is imperative that this support include policy decisions, as well as in sentiments made to the public and media so the shared goal of encouraging and facilitating peaceful demonstrations by the community to continue. Our collective ability to continue to provide scarce resources depends on this partnership with you.

Thank you for your time.

I ask interested readers to compare and contrast Chief Revering’s letter with the insipid, spineless, question-begging Star Tribune editorial of this date on the underlying events.

Surprise! The ‘Russian Bounty’ Story Hyped Up By Corrupt Media To Hurt Trump Turned Out To Be Fake News

New reports show that U.S. intelligence had “low to moderate” confidence in a story peddled by leftists and their corrupt corporate media cronies last year. The anonymously sourced story claimed Russia offered members of the Taliban bounties in exchange for killing American soldiers.

“The United States intelligence community assesses with low to moderate confidence that Russian intelligence officers sought to encourage Taliban attacks U.S. and coalition personnel in Afghanistan in 2019 and perhaps earlier,” a senior administration official said on Thursday.https://a1c7be05b19062bb8a5c62e60c53b302.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html

“U.S. intelligence community agencies have low to moderate confidence in this judgment in part because it relies on detainee reporting, and due to the challenging operating environment in Afghanistan, our conclusion is based on information and evidence of connections between criminal agents in Afghanistan and elements of the Russian government,” the official continued.

Last summer, corporate media outlets ranging from the Washington Post and the New York Times to CNN and MSNBC treated the claim from unnamed intelligence sources as gospel truth and used it to fuel their anti-Trump narratives ahead of the 2020 election. These are the same media outlets that peddled false narratives about the debunked Russia collusion hoax.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?creatorScreenName=FDRLST&dnt=true&embedId=twitter-widget-0&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1382777804014641152&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2021%2F04%2F15%2Fsurprise-the-russian-bounty-story-hyped-up-by-corrupt-media-to-hurt-trump-turned-out-to-be-fake-news%2F&sessionId=9a2a5df084a67ae09c22d470833036360634574e&siteScreenName=FDRLST&theme=light&widgetsVersion=ff2e7cf%3A1618526400629&width=550pxhttps://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?creatorScreenName=FDRLST&dnt=true&embedId=twitter-widget-1&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1277793350607933442&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2021%2F04%2F15%2Fsurprise-the-russian-bounty-story-hyped-up-by-corrupt-media-to-hurt-trump-turned-out-to-be-fake-news%2F&sessionId=9a2a5df084a67ae09c22d470833036360634574e&siteScreenName=FDRLST&theme=light&widgetsVersion=ff2e7cf%3A1618526400629&width=550px

The Daily Beast, which reported the senior official’s comments on Thursday, ran multiple stories about the unproven “scandal” last year.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?creatorScreenName=FDRLST&dnt=true&embedId=twitter-widget-2&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1382720830178754562&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2021%2F04%2F15%2Fsurprise-the-russian-bounty-story-hyped-up-by-corrupt-media-to-hurt-trump-turned-out-to-be-fake-news%2F&sessionId=9a2a5df084a67ae09c22d470833036360634574e&siteScreenName=FDRLST&theme=light&widgetsVersion=ff2e7cf%3A1618526400629&width=550px

A Daily Beast senior editor even mocked Federalist Senior Editor Mollie Hemingway for approaching the bounty claims with caution.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?creatorScreenName=FDRLST&dnt=true&embedId=twitter-widget-3&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1382731919121604619&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2021%2F04%2F15%2Fsurprise-the-russian-bounty-story-hyped-up-by-corrupt-media-to-hurt-trump-turned-out-to-be-fake-news%2F&sessionId=9a2a5df084a67ae09c22d470833036360634574e&siteScreenName=FDRLST&theme=light&widgetsVersion=ff2e7cf%3A1618526400629&width=550px

When former President Donald Trump also dismissed the rumors in an Axios interview, WaPo’s lead “fact-checker” gave the president a “Four Pinocchios” rating for denying the bounty allegations as “fake news.”

“Reports of Russian bounties targeting U.S. troops have spurred the Defense Department to action, triggered a leak investigation by the Justice Department and continue to be investigated by U.S. officials. By giving a total denial, as if trying to put the cat back in the bag, Trump earns Four Pinocchios,” the article concluded.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?creatorScreenName=FDRLST&dnt=true&embedId=twitter-widget-4&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1382757708630257678&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2021%2F04%2F15%2Fsurprise-the-russian-bounty-story-hyped-up-by-corrupt-media-to-hurt-trump-turned-out-to-be-fake-news%2F&sessionId=9a2a5df084a67ae09c22d470833036360634574e&siteScreenName=FDRLST&theme=light&widgetsVersion=ff2e7cf%3A1618526400629&width=550px

The bounty scandal not only blew up on liberal cable news networks and front pages of increasingly leftist papers, but Democrats and NeverTrumper legislators used the story as justification to reject Trump’s attempt to pull troops out of Afghanistan.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?creatorScreenName=FDRLST&dnt=true&embedId=twitter-widget-5&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1382776151316250625&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2021%2F04%2F15%2Fsurprise-the-russian-bounty-story-hyped-up-by-corrupt-media-to-hurt-trump-turned-out-to-be-fake-news%2F&sessionId=9a2a5df084a67ae09c22d470833036360634574e&siteScreenName=FDRLST&theme=light&widgetsVersion=ff2e7cf%3A1618526400629&width=550px

Even when the media were presented with information that added skepticism to an already shaky narrative, journalists kept the story alive for months, much like the Russia collusion hoax.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?creatorScreenName=FDRLST&dnt=true&embedId=twitter-widget-6&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1305547377437224960&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2021%2F04%2F15%2Fsurprise-the-russian-bounty-story-hyped-up-by-corrupt-media-to-hurt-trump-turned-out-to-be-fake-news%2F&sessionId=9a2a5df084a67ae09c22d470833036360634574e&siteScreenName=FDRLST&theme=light&widgetsVersion=ff2e7cf%3A1618526400629&width=550px

As journalist Glenn Greenwald points out, the first round of reporting on the Russia bounty story was based on unquestioned information from the Central Intelligence Agency.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?creatorScreenName=FDRLST&dnt=true&embedId=twitter-widget-7&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1382793565714153472&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2021%2F04%2F15%2Fsurprise-the-russian-bounty-story-hyped-up-by-corrupt-media-to-hurt-trump-turned-out-to-be-fake-news%2F&sessionId=9a2a5df084a67ae09c22d470833036360634574e&siteScreenName=FDRLST&theme=light&widgetsVersion=ff2e7cf%3A1618526400629&width=550px

In addition to their reporting malfeasance when the story first broke, the corporate media completely overlooked the fact that Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff of California, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, was briefed as early as February of last year about the possible bounties but refused to take action at the time.

As Hemingway and Federalist co-founder Sean Davis wrote at the time, “Schiff is demanding that the Trump administration brief all of Congress about the unverified allegations, yet he himself did not ask for a briefing of the Intelligence Committee following the February briefing of his own staff.”

The backpedaling by intelligence officials comes the same day that President Joe Biden sanctioned Russia for messing with the 2020 election and potential involvement in major cyberattacks.

Joe Biden, Famous Authoritarian, Wants to Fight Authoritarianism

By J.B. Shurk at American Thinker:

Buried at the end of page nineteen of the Biden administration’s twenty-three-page Interim National Security Strategic Guidance issued to the public last month is this gem: “Authoritarianism is on the global march, and we must join with likeminded allies and partners to revitalize democracy the world over.”

Put aside, for a moment, that the custodians of our constitutional republic still mistake “democracy” as the antithesis to “authoritarianism,” rather than “liberty” or “individual rights,” which are the true bulwarks for a free people to guard against the tyrant’s will.

Authoritarianism is on the march?

Um…it sure looks as though it’s already firebombed the turrets, splintered the drawbridge, and stormed the castle.  At the very least, it traipsed into American homes this last year like a wet skunk sneaking through the kitchen’s doggy door entrance.

“Wear a mask, or you will be punished!”

“Stay at home, or you will be punished!”

“Stop praying at church, or you will be punished!”

“Forget making a living, or you will be punished!”

“Inject this into your body, or no vaccine passport!”

“Oh, and if you would be so kind, please let a local Democrat operative fill out your unidentifiable and untraceable mail-in ballot, so that every single vote counts!”

I hate to break it to the same vast national security apparatus that largely failed to predict the fall of the Berlin Wall or the dissolution of the Soviet Union (thanks, Gipper!), but authoritarianism slipped inside the outer perimeter wall some time ago while the Pentagon was getting drunk on one too many virtue-signaling cocktails of climate change alarmism, sex change operations for the boys, and rooting out soldiers who might admit to having ever enjoyed The Dukes of Hazzard.  (Speaking of outer perimeter walls, we’re on track to see one to two million foreign nationals attempt illegal entry into the U.S. this year, if the Defense Department can find some time in its busy schedule protecting other nations’ borders to consider doing the same here.)

While Democrat activists posing as journalists spent the last five years accusing President Trump of being “literally Hitler,” the Fourth Estate joined the Judicial Branch in making nary a sound as municipal and state tyrants and federal agencies wielding power divined from thin air arrived at the august legal conclusion that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights exist only to protect Americans during times of peace and extraordinary security.  As with so much of the law that now governs the citizens of the United States, it was amazing to discover nearly two and a half centuries after it was written that the First Amendment does not actually protect the exercise of religion during flu season, or free speech if such speech is used to question the legitimacy of the last election or the viability of future vaccines, or freedom of the press if Google and Facebook deem what is published contrary to the Democratic Party’s official propaganda, or the rights to assemble and petition the government for a redress of grievances if the government serendipitously discovers that all aggrieved citizens are really “domestic terrorists.”  Who knew there were so many “penumbras and emanations” hidden within the First Amendment’s text that its true meaning could actually be diametrically opposed to the plain meaning of its own words?  It’s as if the Founding Fathers were so concerned about protecting rights and liberties from the ever-expansive encroachments of government that they spoke in riddles!

Over half the country still believes that the last election was stolen from President Trump (Shh!  Don’t speak too loudly, citizen.), but the current occupant of the White House (in a foreign setting, one might say “usurper”) is so at home in his new digs that he’s already announced plans to confiscate American firearms and dismantle the Second Amendment because (feverishly shakes Magic 8-Ball) “no amendment is absolute.”

Again, what genius of legal reasoning!  Here I was under the impression that the Founders were so concerned about later generations misconstruing the Bill of Rights as denying to the people all other rights and powers not enumerated that they specifically wrote the Ninth Amendment to safeguard the public’s sphere of liberty and protect the people from governmental overreach.  And yet the legal scholar in the White House has discovered the Founders’ true intent: to make specifically enumerated rights even less protected than the unenumerated ones.  Who knew that the right to “keep and bear arms” actually included an invisible parenthetical clause stating, “unless the government should feel threatened”?  How myopic I’ve been in thinking that threatening the federal government was the entire point of the Second Amendment, a kind of “break glass in case of emergency” Plan B should the government decide to throw Plan A — adhering to the text of the Constitution — out the window.  Thank goodness we have authorities who have no trouble telling us what the Constitution actually authorizes!

How can the United States fight authoritarianism while making it domestic policy?

At some point, you just throw up your hands and wonder how the American establishment class manages to walk and chew gum without forgetting where it’s going or who it is (no wonder Biden’s been so comfortable in office for fifty years).  Sure, we have some seriously sadistic tyrants in our midst who know exactly what they’re doing by poisoning the well of American freedom and reimagining America as Venezuela, where tribal conflict is not just encouraged, but required for the system to propagate.  But we also have an awful lot of D.C. dimwits who can’t comprehend the cognitive dissonance of simultaneously vilifying the state of Georgia for ever so slightly securing its elections against voter fraud while applauding the economic miracles of China’s slave labor dictatorship.

Politicians, Hollywood stars, and Major League Baseball can all feign indignation, turn their backs on ordinary Georgians living paycheck to paycheck by pulling jobs from the state, and publicly celebrate the false god of “social justice,” but they’ll never give up all that sweet Chinese cash made off the backs of the religious prisoners, intellectual dissidents, and racial undesirables who give China’s manufacturing sector the “comparative advantage” to undersell its global competitors.  It takes an outrageous combination of shallow hypocrisy and mendacity to frantically charge half of America with engaging in super-secret, unconscious racism while extolling the world’s largest slaveholding plantation on the other side of the planet.

If America’s government and business oligarchs rake in money from racist authoritarians in communist China while peddling racism and authoritarianism at home for political power, can they still give each other awards for being antiracist champions fighting for the common good?  Only in America are the “woke” so completely unawake.

“Do what I say” government is catnip for the political class.  Wisdom and restraint are losing ground.  And it’s becoming difficult to see how America can fight authoritarianism abroad while embracing authoritarianism at home.

It’s true: Democrats have court-packing on the menu

By Andrea Widburg at American Thinker:

News broke on Wednesday that Democrats have prepared bills for both the House and the Senate aimed at increasing the Supreme Court from the current nine justices to thirteen.  Were this to pass and new justices to be added, the Supreme Court would cease to be a body that reflects the back and forth of elections, with presidents of one party or another getting the opportunity to add new justices as old ones leave.  Instead, it would simply become an unelected quasi-legislative body that pretends every item on the leftist wish list is encompassed in a “living” Constitution.

The Intercept reports that, in the House, the legislators behind the bill are Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), Hank Johnson (D-Ga.), and Mondaire Jones (D-N.Y.).  Just to give a sense of the IQ behind this trio, Johnson thinks islands, if their population becomes too great, can tip over.  (And no, his retrofitted excuse did not remove the stain of that idiotic statement.)  Nadler is the shriveled gnome who insisted that Antifa violence in Portland is a myth.  (The myth just burned a federal building.)  Jones is the generic new Democrat: Stanford and Harvard Law grad, black, gay, demanding Sen. Josh Hawley’s expulsion, refusing to work with Republicans, etc.  (And no, his “elite” credentials do not impress me since the odor of affirmative action hangs heavily around him.  He’s also graduated so recently that both of those institutions were focused more on indoctrination than education.)

In the Senate, Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) supported the bill.  Markey is to the left of left.  In addition to sponsoring the Green New Deal that morphed into Biden’s fake “stimulus” plan, here are just some of the things he’s said: Thanksgiving is about “atrocities” against Native Americans; we should take all “weapons of war” from police; and Trump’s nominating Amy Coney Barrett, which was consistent with the Constitution and historic precedent, was “illegitimate.”

Court-packing is nothing but a raw power play.  Currently, the Court commands a certain level of respect.  The justices represent the kind of ideologically mixed bag one gets when alternating Republican and Democrat presidents have the opportunity to appoint new justices.  Because the balance of power goes back and forth, the justices must have a working relationship.  Famously, Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg were genuinely good friends.

This will all change if the Democrats do away with the filibuster and pack the Court.  The four new justices will not have any hint of moderation about them.  They will be hardcore leftists who may not even pretend to any respect for the Constitution.  Currently, the activist justices consider the Constitution a “living” document that can be bent and stretched to meet their ends.  With a packed Court, the justices could easily announce that it’s a dead document and conclude, ironically as a constitutional matter, that it’s no longer applicable to modern issues.

If the Democrats can pack the Court, they’ll also add Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. as new states, which will create a permanent Democrat majority in Congress.  Once that happens, this is how things will play out:

Democrats will pass wish-list bills.  These might include formally and completely socializing medicine, granting amnesty and citizenship to all illegal aliens, and declaring the Republican Party an insurrectionist organization, with all current and past members subject to immediate arrest.  Or perhaps the administration will announce that it will seize all privately held guns or that, in the future, China will have a place at the Joint Chiefs of Staff table.

Horrified citizens will sue.  However, no matter how the lower courts decide the case, once they get to the Supreme Court, the packed Court will rubber-stamp all congressional and legislative acts.  In other words, despite the fact that the justices are appointed, not elected, they will be a super-legislature.  At first, these decisions will come dressed in constitutional garb.  Soon, though, the justices will abandon that pretense.

At that point, America, as a constitutional democratic republic, will cease to exist.  It’s that simple.  We won’t even be a soft democratic socialist country like many in Europe.  We will, instead, be a fascist dictatorship, led by a cabal of corporations and politicians.

And here’s the really scary thing: currently, the only thing stopping this from happening is the promise that Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) made to refuse to go along with their fellow Democrats’ demand to do away with the filibuster.  That’s because, even if the bill passes the House (and it presumably will), the filibuster means that it will take 60 senators to vote yes on court-packing, and that’s not going to happen.  Without the filibuster, only 50 Senators, plus Kamala Harris, are required to destroy America.

Be afraid.  Be very afraid.  And for goodness’s sake, contact your representatives and politely but firmly tell them that the Court is perfectly constituted with nine members.

Fascist Billionaire Bill Gates Plans to Increase Profits by BLOCKING THE SUN?

So Bill Gates wants to spray dust into the sky to control the Earth’s temperature?

By Jack Hellner at American Thinker:

The radical-leftist-billionaire-fear-monger Bill Gates is working with scientists to determine if they can control temperatures by spraying chemicals into the atmosphere to partially block the sun.

Here’s the news item:

A Bill Gates Venture Aims To Spray Dust Into The Atmosphere To Block The Sun. What Could Go Wrong?

Microsoft’s MSFT +1% billionaire founder Bill Gates is financially backing the development of sun-dimming technology that would potentially reflect sunlight out of Earth’s atmosphere, triggering a global cooling effect. The Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment (SCoPEx), launched by Harvard University scientists, aims to examine this solution by spraying non-toxic calcium carbonate (CaCO3) dust into the atmosphere — a sun-reflecting aerosol that may offset the effects of global warming.

What a nice concept.  I wonder how they determined what the right temperature is on Earth since it has fluctuated cyclically and naturally for billions of years?  What if they screw up and lower the temperatures too much?

How would they spray the chemicals into the atmosphere if we get rid of jet fuel, which they also advocate?

Why is Biden proposing that we spend so much money on airports since planes will be worthless and the travel industry will be destroyed if we get rid of crude oil?

What would happen to President Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz, or Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis if they claimed they could control the temperatures by putting other chemicals in the atmosphere instead of destroying the oil industry?  They would be destroyed by the media and other Democrats.  They would be called anti-science and stupid.  They would be silenced and canceled by the social media tyrants.

Another day, another story to indoctrinate and scare the public as the media and other Democrats seek to destroy the oil industry and promote massive government spending and taxes as they infest the public with some version of the Green New Deal.

This article says CO2 is at the highest in 3.6 billion years, as if we have even had accurate measurements throughout that time, and that the last time CO2 was these high temperatures were seven degrees higher and sea levels were 80 feet higher.

Does anyone truly believe we have accurate measurements for CO2 the last 3.6 billion years?

Therefore, an accurate headline would be: “Scientific data from NOAA shows that humans and fossil fuel use have kept temperatures 7 degrees cooler and sea levels 80 feet lower than the last time CO2 was this high.”

How can that possibly be unless all the predictions have just been based on manipulated, inaccurate computer models instead of facts?

Carbon dioxide levels are higher than theyve been at any point in the last 3.6 million years

According to NOAA, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is now similar to a time when the Earth was about 7 degrees hotter than it was in the pre-industrial time period and sea levels were nearly 80 feet higher than they are today.

In 1974, after around 30 years of significant global cooling, the once-esteemed Time Magazine had an article where “experts” were worried about a disastrous coming ice age.

Another Ice Age?

Monday, June 24, 1974

The changing weather is apparently connected with differences in the amount of energy that the earth’s surface receives from the sun. Changes in the earth’s tilt and distance from the sun could, for instance, significantly increase or decrease the amount of solar radiation falling on either hemisphere—thereby altering the earth’s climate. Some observers have tried to connect the eleven-year sunspot cycle with climate patterns, but have so far been unable to provide a satisfactory explanation of how the cycle might be involved.

Man, too, may be somewhat responsible for the cooling trend. The University of Wisconsin’s Reid A. Bryson and other climatologists suggest that dust and other particles released into the atmosphere as a result of farming and fuel burning may be blocking more and more sunlight from reaching and heating the surface of the earth.

Something they worried about was that farmers and fuel-burning were putting particles in the air that were partially blocking the sun.  That appears to be exactly what Gates and other supposedly smart people are suggesting — controlling a minor, cyclical increase in temperatures.  Isn’t it idiotic to suggest a solution when that solution was previously listed as a disastrous problem?

So the public should remember that the science is settled: global warming and cooling, floods and droughts, polar vortices, snowless winters, too much snow, minor storm activity, and major storm activity are all caused by oil, coal, humans, and rising CO2.

I hope everyone now understands how science works.  Essentially, facts and scientific data don’t matter — only the agenda.

And the solution, no matter what the supposed problems are, is always to transfer more freedom, money, and power to the government so it has more control over us.

As Biden and the Democrats intentionally mislead the public about what is in the leftist slush fund COVID and infrastructures the COVID relief bills, he repeatedly says help is on the way.

Contrast that with the great president who cared about all the people.  President Reagan said the nine most terrifying words are “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.”

What do we replace rubber tires and asphalt with when we get rid of oil?

How do we defend ourselves against Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran if we get rid of oil since they won’t?

How many businesses, farms, individuals, families, and banks will go under when houses, vehicles, trucks, farm equipment, planes, road equipment and all gas-powered machinery becomes worthless?  The wealth gap will increase massively since the poor and middle class will suffer tremendously from this intentional destruction.

Where do we dispose of all this worthless stuff?  Won’t that greatly harm the environment?

How do we mine, produce, transport, and install all the wind turbines and solar panels when there are no longer gas-powered machines?

Where do we dispose of all the worthless solar panels, wind turbines, and flammable pollutant lithium batteries when they wear out? Won’t that greatly harm the environment?

Aren’t the environmentalists worried about all the wildlife that wind turbines and solar panels kill?

Indoctrination is a dangerous thing, whether it is about climate change, voter laws, Russian collusion, or systemic racism.

When journalists are indoctrinated, they will never ask Gates, nor purported greenie billionaires such as Tom Steyer, Michael Bloomberg, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg, nor greenie pols such as Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Joe Biden, John Kerry, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and AOC, nor anyone else for scientific data to support their intentional destruction of America.

Either they don’t care or they will just repeat whatever they are told.  Either way, it is dangerous for the American people to participate in the indoctrination, instead of asking questions and doing research.

Do journalists truly believe that the party that continually lied that you could keep your doctor, keep your plan, that your premiums would be substantially lower, and that there is no crisis at the border can control temperatures, sea levels, and storm activity if we get rid of oil and hand over trillions to the government?  If so, they probably still believe the lying fifty former intelligence officials who claimed that the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation.  Why haven’t we heard from these lying officials after the election of the current radical leftist?  The answer is that the media never cared about the truth — only about power for leftists and their agenda.
