“Dems Are More Fascist Than Democrats These Days”!

A Democrat President Again Wastes Taxpayer Money On Useless Renewables

By Jerome Corsi at American Thinker:

This past week, the Senate passed the Biden administration’s “Inflation Reduction Act,” which includes $368 billion for green energy spending targeted to reduce CO2 emissions by 40 percent by 2030, a move that will almost certainly increase inflation. In a repeat of the renewable energy project failures that the Obama administration financed with federal grants and tax breaks, the Biden administration is betting more potentially inflationary deficit spending against the odds that renewable energy will be profitable this time.

Ironically, on September 4, 2009, then-Vice President Joe Biden was the one who announced that the Department of Energy (DOE) had just finalized a $535 million loan guarantee for Solyndra, LLC. This green energy company manufactured “innovative cylindrical solar photovoltaic panels that provide clean, renewable energy.” Biden enthusiastically noted the DOE loan guarantee aimed to finance the construction of Solyndra’s manufacturing plant. He also bragged that the annual production of solar panels from the first phase of Solyndra’s plans would provide energy equivalent to powering 24,000 homes a year for over half a million homes during the project’s lifetime.

On September 6, 2011, Solyndra filed for bankruptcy, suspended operations at its headquarters, and laid off 1,100 workers. Solyndra went bankrupt despite $535 million in federal loan guarantees and more than $700 million in venture capital funding. The U.S. Department of Energy blamed the Solyndra bankruptcy on the Chinese, claiming the China Development Bank offered more than $30 billion in financing to Chinese solar manufacturers, “about 20 times more than U.S.-backed loans to solar manufacturers.”

On December 25, 2011, after analyzing thousands of memos, company records, and internal emails, the Washington Post provided interesting insights into Obama’s entire $80 billion clean energy technology program.

First, it concluded that the Obama administration gave preferred access to investors in Solyndra who had donated to Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. Some of these select investors even took jobs in the administration and helped manage the clean energy program. “Documents show that senior officials pushed career bureaucrats to rush their decision on the [Solyndra] loan so Vice President Biden could announce it during a trip to California.” The same article noted that Obama’s May 2010 stop at Solyndra’s headquarters, “like most presidential appearances,” was “closely managed political theater.”

Second, it noted that Solyndra’s most substantial political connection was George Kaiser, a Democratic fundraiser and oil industry billionaire who happened to be an Obama campaign bundler in 2008. Kaiser had hosted Obama at his home, and his family’s foundation owned more than a third of Solyndra. Kaiser “took a direct interest in its [Solyndra’s] operations.”

Peter Schweizer, head of the Government Accountability Institute, reported that 80% of the money spent in Obama’s 2009 Recovery Act on green energy companies went to companies with individual owners who sat on Obama’s finance committee for his 2008 presidential campaign. Given the number of influential donors in Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign who have considerable financial stakes in green energy companies, Schweizer predicts Biden’s “Build Back Better” green energy program amounts to nothing more than “a wealth transfer to Biden’s biggest bundlers.”

By 2015, the Obama administration had used taxpayer funds to subside solar and other renewable energy in the United States at an average of $39 billion per year over five years, for a total of nearly $200 billion. This massive investment in renewable energy resulted in less than 1% of additional electrical generation.

In total, the Obama administration financed some thirty-four faltering or bankrupt green energy companies, including the following: solar panel manufacturers Solyndra LLC ($535 million loss in federal loan guarantees) and Abound Solar Manufacturing, LLC ($400 million loss); Fisker Automotive ($529 million), a green vehicles program; and green energy storage companies Beacon Power ($43 million) and A123 Systems ($132 million).

On May 5, 2021, Wyoming Republican Senator John Barrasso, M.D., the ranking member of the Senate’s Energy and Natural Resources Committee, introduced an investigative report that the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources had released about a concept he called the “Solyndra Syndrome.” The report contended Biden is heading down the same green energy path as Obama. Throwing billions of taxpayer jobs at various clean energy ventures didn’t work for Obama, and Barrasso argued it wouldn’t work for Biden either. Moreover, like Obama, Biden was putting a stranglehold on the oil and gas industries, where jobs were being created.

The reality is that green energy is an expensive chimera. With today’s technology, it can’t come close to satisfying America’s energy needs.

In a perfect world, batteries the size of flashlight batteries could store enough wind or solar energy to light a city; and ten wind turbines placed a few miles outside a metropolitan area could provide all the electricity that the city and suburbs needed for a week, whether or not the wind blew. If that technology existed, the entire world would instantly switch to these new, powerful solar batteries. Instead, in the real world, renewable energy use in utility-scale electricity generation will remain dependent upon government grants and tax credits for the foreseeable future.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), renewable fuels in 2020 were only 12% of all U.S. energy consumption. When we break down the renewable energy category, solar energy and wind energy together were 37% of the renewable energy used, but only 4.44% of all energy the United States used that year. These numbers would surprise those who consume only the mainstream media.

In September 2019, the EIA released an International Energy Outlook that included global energy projections from 2019 to 2050. The EIA noted that, while renewables are “the world’s fastest growing form of energy,” hydrocarbon fuels “continue to meet much of the world’s energy demand.” The report projected that by 2050, world energy consumption would grow nearly 50%, even as 70% of global energy consumption would remain using oil, natural gas, and coal, with the oil price possibly reaching as high as $175/barrel. Despite the worldwide push for renewable fuels, the EIA projected that, by 2050, renewable fuels would still be only 28% of global energy consumption.

While Trump was still president, the left turned to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to propose an FDR-like, government-mandated, sweeping Green New Deal to shove hydrocarbon fuels into the dustbin of world energy history. On January 19, 2019, at the Women’s Unity Rally at Foley Square in New York City, Ocasio-Cortez declared that young Americans fear “the world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.” She called the fight to mitigate the effects of climate change her generation’s “World War II.”

Guided by Ocasio-Cortez and her understanding of climate science, the Biden administration appears determined to repeat the Obama administration’s failure by once again pursuing an aggressive taxpayer-subsidized green energy policy designed to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions, even if reducing the use of hydrocarbon fuels amounts to the United States committing economic suicide.

Meanwhile, Alexandria Ocasio-Ortez has captured the neo-Marxist critical theory left by doubling down on her hysteria that we are facing a world-ending global warming crisis if we fail to declare a climate emergency to force decarbonization. Her argument is only convincing to those whose selective memory chooses to ignore the Obama era “Solyndra Syndrome,” instead believing the global-warming climate catastrophes Al Gore predicted 16 years ago in his 2006 An Inconvenient Truth documentary has come true.

Since 2004, Jerome R. Corsi has published 25 books on economics, history, and politics, including two #1 New York Times bestsellers. In 1972, he received his Ph.D. from the Department of Government at Harvard University.

Officially police are saying they don’t have a motive yet but the NY Post is reporting Matar had sympathies with Iran.

Law enforcement sources told The Post that an initial investigation suggests Matar has made social media posts in support of Iran and its Revolutionary Guard, and in support of Shi’a extremism more broadly.

New York State Police, however, said that Matar’s motive remained unclear.

“We don’t have any indication of a motive at this time,” Major Eugene J. Staniszewski told reporters. He added that police believe Matar acted alone.

Several people have posted screenshots from Matar’s Facebook account. Lots of Ayatollah pictures plus one of deceased general Qasem Soleimani.

As for Rushdie, he was given first aid almost immediately and transported to a hospital by helicopter. It has been several hours and the most recent reports are that he is still in surgery.

Salman Rushdie was still undergoing surgery as of 5 p.m. on Friday after he was stabbed several hours earlier by an attacker who the authorities identified as Hadi Matar, a 24-year-old New Jersey man…

Mr. Matar had a pass to get into the grounds of the Chautauqua Institution where Mr. Rushdie was to deliver a lecture, just as other guests did, according to the institution’s president, Michael Hill.

A Fox News affiliate is reporting that Matar was carrying a fake ID at the time of the stabbing. The photo certainly matches the image of Matar above. It’s not clear why he had a fake ID.

Finally, Iran is behaving about as you would expect. State media is condemning…Salman Rushdie.

The Islamic Republic News Agency, which described Rushdie as having been “attacked by knife,” called him an “apostate author.”

It also described “The Satanic Verses” as a “blasphemous novel about Islam.”

Meanwhile, FARS News, another regime-owned outlet, also described him as an “apostate” and accused him of having “insulted the Prophet of Islam (PBUH)” with the book’s “anti-religious content.”

I’ll update this story if there’s any new information on Rushdie’s condition.

A LOOK AT LIFE….in the year, 2022

I, Glenn H. Ray, will be 88 in a few weeks. My high school, St. Paul, Minnesota’s CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL, will be meeting on this coming September’s seventh day for its seventh tenth year gathering after graduation in 1952.

Nearly all of us were born in 1934, during the crest of the Great Depression. We didn’t know much about the Depression. The Second World War had put it to rest.

America, as we knew it, was God-fearing and a Great America until the late 1960s. No swearing in school….NONE, or ELSE the student would disappear for a while. Children had Mothers….real mothers who ran their homes without swearing, without disappearing, without booze, with cooperation among real mothers who would teach and watch and/or play with the kids on the block.

It was not unusual for some Fathers to be working six days a week….It was Sunday that was sacred…..Nearly all of sales companies would be closed the full day so folks could, would attend their Churches. Synagogues usually were open for their worship on Saturday’s.

And then there was World War between December, 1941 and September, 1945, which began to change everything since.

Families were considered sacred in those days…..Mothers and fathers had children to take care of! THAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF HAVING CHILDREN….TO HAVE FAMILIES…..MOTHER, FATHER, AND CHILDREN….and to have families GODFEARING…..TO SEEK GOODNESS, HONESTY, CIVILITY, TOLERANCE….’LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THY SELF’…as I was taught…or else!

Families were cherished throughout our neighborhoods in very modest Christian St. Paul, Minnesota where I was born in 1934 and raised until I went to college on my own.

My dad’s father, that is, my Grandfather, Frank Ray, was born before the Civil War began! His family lived in Cherryfield, Maine rather close to the Atlantic and must have been quite wealthy. Primogeniture was practiced….that is the oldest boy of the family was to receive the family’s wealth upon the Father’s death.

My Grandfather Ray was the third boy of six or seven children, and so, had to find is way mostly by himself. His Father did buy some acreage for him, around 1,000 acres near Hope, North Dakota where he could settle and live.

Grandpa Ray left Cherryfield when he was seventeen. Somewhere in my house I have a postcard from Chillicothe, Ohio with his picture sitting on his horse on the front and note on the back reading: “MOTHER, I’M FINE….FRANK”.

Teachers of my day from elementary through high school were knowledgeable and God-fearing adults in charge of their classes well organized and under control with rare exception. I never knew any fellow student who swore…..ever, even through college from 1952 -56…..even in the Army in 1957 and 58!

Church and God were still honored until the mid 1960s when the sexual lefty human animal began to own the colleges and universities and dictate in public. ghr.

Getting Old!

Dear friends: I was born dyslexic late summer in 1934. I have never been able to read a book cover to cover, yet own about 3,000 books stacked inside my house in case I need something!

I used to draw maps of states or countries when that World war began for America in 1941. I collected pictures from the St. Paul Pioneer Press’s Sunday Rotogravure section covering the War….especially the Pacific one where my step-cousins were fighting from war ships.

I got my first globe from Mom that Christmas after the bombing of Pearl Harbor….It helped me keep my mouth about my “cousins’ in the war SHUT!

By third grade I could, and did, draw maps of our United States by heart and did so when asked by my teacher, Lucille Jaeger, in front of our class students…..the first time I was ever called upon in classrooms usually filled by a very skilled teacher and 40 kids during the War.

Dyslexics are usually males, loners, viewers with amazing memories.

I was raised in a Jewish minority community throughout grade school, a talker at school both inside and out, and wound up with a number of fellow boys who were Jewish buddies at school, but never allowed by their parents to enter their house.

Jews were all Democrats those days. My parents were Republicans but Democrats throughout my Mother’s rather large group in life.

To this day, I cannot remember a Jewish friend or otherwise ever being a Republican beyond Barry Goldwater of Presidential Candidacy in 1964. I was still a Democrat then!

And along came Dennis Prager around fifteen years ago, a Jew who possessed a BRAIN I had never met politically and culturally before as an American! His TWO PLUS TWO EQUALS FOUR, EQUALED MINE ON NEARLY EVERY FRONT. His Russian Is A Bit Weak and Shabby…..I taught it for ten years and spent two fascinating visits in 1966 and 1990 to the European Soviet System when I was fluent.

I met Dennis at the Minnesota State Fair. I was very lonely as a Conservative, but I had become one thoroughly via myself. I also had become a new career. An assistant superintendent of schools in Minneapolis didn’t like the idea I was teaching Russian at one of the city’s schools and so fired me because I had been teaching Russian at the school where he had been Principal…..and didn’t like the teaching Russian idea and eventually fired me.

As it turned out, I was given a blessing, for I never would have been able to discuss Dennis Prager matters with you, DEAR READERS….Thank you, ghr. I’ll be 88 soon!

Current Democrats: THE RISE OF AMERICA’S FASCIST STATE!

AUGUST 12, 2022 BY STEVEN HAYWARD at Power Line:

CODE RED FOR THE DEEP STATE?

Moviegoers may recall the scene late in Return of the Jedi where the rebel fleet transmits a stolen security code to get through the defensive perimeter surrounding the new death star, and the communications officer on the imperial battle cruiser says, “It’s an old code, but it checks out.”

This line came back to mind with the news this morning that one of the items supposedly sought in the Mar-a-Lago raid were the nuclear launch codes that Trump carried in his pocket while president, and which as an ex-President he probably should have surrendered upon leaving office.

This story seems highly suspicious, to say the least. The details of the command-and-control systems for our nuclear and other advanced weapons systems is highly classified, and is one of the most difficult problems of defense management in a crisis. It’s one thing to have nuclear weapons systems, but it is another thing to communicate and authenticate command orders in wartime conditions, when the enemy will be hacking and disrupting communication chains. This was a major problem even before the rise of the internet. It was a major concern, for example, back in the early 1980s when the United States deployed Pershing II and cruise missiles in Europe. Some declassified accounts of the command-and-control challenges of that era make for harrowing reading.

Regardless of the complexity of C-and-C, it defies common sense to suppose that an ex-President would have live launch codes in his possession. Surely the codes are changed when a new president takes office, and in any case Trump wouldn’t have access to the “football’—the mobile communications device used for a president to send out launch instructions that travels everywhere with the president. Does anyone think Trump is going to call up some manned missile silo or ballistic submarine commander thinking that an old code will “check out”? This is too stupid even for George Lucas.

The only remotely possible difficulty is if it is supposed that our enemies could learn valuable intelligence about our command and communication structure if Trump deliberately or inadvertently allowed access to old codes and related documents about their use. If the Biden Administration has evidence of this, they ought to produce it immediately. And even if this unlikely scenario is correct, it wouldn’t justify the kind of sensational public raid that took place.

This is starting to sound like a re-run of the Russia Hoax, and by the very same people who are using the same old Code Red they sounded in 2016. But that old code doesn’t check out. It’s almost as though they want Trump to run and win again. Good for business at FBI headquarters.

Elections Belong to the States

By Ted Noel at American Thinker:

With Governor DeSantis’s firing of Soros-backed rogue Florida 13th Judicial Circuit State Attorney Andrew Warren, a very real question arises: “What business does a New Yorker have to do with elections in Florida?” Yes, Soros has US citizenship, but why is he poking his finger into Florida where he does not live? His three mansions are all in New York State.

For all state elections, it’s very clear that the state legislature has the authority to write laws about how they are conducted. For example, the legislature in Florida could declare that elections for state officeholders would only be on February 29, on Pi Day (March 14, 3.14 in European notation), or some other silly rule. But as long as that rule was applied evenly and did not prevent any particular group of otherwise eligible Florida voters from voting, it would be legal.

The same rule applies to voter registration. The 26th Amendment does require states to allow 18-year-olds to vote but otherwise creates no other specific rules. States are fully free to restrict non-citizens from voting because the 26th Amendment only guarantees the franchise to citizens. We could go on with a long list of other possible rules, but note that I have said absolutely nothing yet about federal elections.

The National Voter Registration Act of 1993, the so-called “Motor Voter Law,” lists a lot of rules about federal elections, so it’s important to understand the term:

Federal election means any general or special election or any primary held solely or in part for the purpose of selecting, nominating or electing any candidate for the office of President, Vice President, presidential elector, member of the United States Senate or member of the United States House of Representatives.

In short, a federal election is one in which someone who serves a function in the federal government is elected. And the Motor Voter law only applies to those elections.

The Help America Vote Act of 2002 adds a layer of federal bureaucracy to administering elections by funding various “non-controversial” bits of the mechanical parts of doing an election. For example, it can pay for voting machines and handicap access to polling places. Other laws have been passed to regulate how much a person can donate, how the funds can be used, and how they must be reported. But unless it’s hidden very well, there appears to be no legal concern about who can contribute to my local city councilman’s campaign. Or for that matter, to a District Attorney’s campaign. And this is where George Soros has chosen to meddle.

The Florida 13th Judicial Circuit State Attorney is an officer of the state of Florida. Only registered voters in that part of Florida can vote in his election. And he is elected to uphold the laws of Florida within that Circuit. We must ask: “What part of that Circuit is in New York?” And the answer is intuitively obvious to the most casual observer: None! The Florida 13th Judicial Circuit is not in New York. So why is a New Yorker allowed to finance a campaign for that District Attorney? It makes no sense whatever.

We might take this a step further. If I live outside the 13th Judicial Circuit, but vote in that election, I’ve committed a crime. If my vote is counted, it offsets a legal vote from within the Circuit, disenfranchising someone who has a lawful right to have his vote counted. So why is George Soros allowed to fund that campaign? He has no rightful voice in it, yet his millions fund all sorts of campaign ads, which the Supreme Court has equated to speech with Citizens United.

If these campaigns within a state truly belong to the voters of that state, then it is only appropriate for them to fund candidates they support without any interference from outside. That would mean something very simple, and as far as I can tell, totally lawful. The state can restrict all campaign funding to donors who are domiciled in that state. That fancy word means that they live there. I live in Orange County, Florida, so, if that were the law, I could contribute to campaigns in Florida. George Soros could not.

Under Citizens United, corporations can contribute as well but, again, we would require them to be domiciled in Florida. Amazon.com is domiciled in Washington State, so it (and Jeff Bezos, who also lives there) would be excluded. On the other hand, Darden Restaurants, EverBank, Harris Corporation, and Winn-Dixie would be just fine, since they are all domiciled in Florida.
As I search through the mountains of federal campaign finance rules, I find no rules addressing geographic limits on contributions. There’s a lot of record keeping and reporting, but I’ve found nothing to suggest that Florida could not adopt a similar restriction on Senate or House races. Senators and CongressCritters are elected from single states. They represent voters in those states. So why would Georgia allow Left Coast billionaires to buy two senators from Georgia? Could it be that John Ossoff and Raphael Warnock simply did not have the support in Georgia without a bunch of “walkin’ around money” for people who might not otherwise vote? Or did they need money to hire mules to stuff ballot boxes?

If all the money had come from Georgia, it’s unlikely that either Ossoff or Warnock would have been elected. But with Zuckerbucks, they had cash to do all the things they wanted to do, including the illegal ballot box stuffing that Dinesh D’Souza and his team documented.

Elections are affairs run by states for the benefit of citizens of those states. There is no justification for allowing out-of-state actors to massively fund in-state campaigns. This makes the individual voter feel like he has no ability to influence either a campaign or his elected representative. But when funding is restricted to in-state actors or even in-district actors, the concept of representation becomes much more real.

There’s no legal impediment that I can find that prevents a state from enacting this sort of restriction. Further, there’s no technical concern with extending it to the very district covered, since computer databases can be queried very quickly to identify eligibility. If we truly want election integrity, limiting election participation to citizens who are directly impacted by the specific electoral contest makes perfect sense.
