When Did Fascists Come to Own Middlebury College?

LEARNING FROM LEGUTKO AT MIDDLEBURY

by Scott Johnson  at  PowerLine:

Over the weekend Steve called out Middlebury College as another college that deserves to die when it canceled a planned public lecture by the Polish philosopher Ryszard Legutko. Legutko was the editor of Solidarity’s official journal of philosophy and, since Poland overcame its Communist subjection, he has served at the highest levels of Polish government as well as in the EU’s European Parliament. He is also the author, as Carl Eric Scott put it in NR, of “the challenging book The Demon in Democracy: Totalitarian Temptations in Free Societies.

Steve found Middlebury the perfect example of a place yielding to the totalitarian temptation: “Supposedly it was the threat of violent protests like those that shut down Charles Murray’s appearance at Middlebury two years ago that led the administration to cancel Legutko’s talk, but a clarifying email shows that the real reason the administration offered is even more cowardly.” Steve quoted the email to reveal the depth of the administration’s cowardice.

However, this was not the end of the story. Middlebury professor Matthew Dickinson said he’d allow Legutko to appear stealthily in his class if all his students approved on a secret ballot. All nine students voted yes. When word circulated on social media, the audience grew to 45 students.

Shades of Solidarity! I wish I could have been there. As Steve suggests, the Middlebury story provides a case study in the phenomena dissected in Legutko’s book.

As it happens, Adrian Vermeule has just published a brilliant review of the book in First Things under the title “Liturgy of liberalism.” Toward the end of Professor Vermeule’s summary of Legutko’s argument, he writes:

Liberalism needs an enemy to maintain its sacramental dynamism. It can never rest in calm waters, basking in the day of victory; it is essential that at any given moment there should be a new battle to be fought. The good liberal should always be able to say, “We have made progress, but there is still much to do.” This is why the triumph of same-sex marriage actually happened too suddenly and too completely. Something else was needed to animate liberalism, and transgenderism has quickly filled the gap, defining new forces of reaction and thus enabling new iterations and celebrations of the Festival. And if endorsement and approval of self-described “gender identity” becomes a widely shared legal and social norm, a new frontier will be opened, and some new issue will move to the top of the public agenda, something that now seems utterly outlandish and is guaranteed to provoke fresh opposition from the cruel forces of reaction—polygamy, perhaps, or mandatory vegetarianism.

Read the whole thing here.

(Note from ghr:  I happened to received my Master’s Degree  from Middlebury College over 50 years ago.   It was a three year summer program.  All of the classes were given in Russian.  Students all, had to speak Russian at all times while on campus.

Our instructors were Classical Russians, not Soviet ones which seems to have invaded the schools during the Obama years.   Many were off-spring of the countless “White Russian” Orthodox refugees who fled the Fascist Soviet Revolution and its wars in the early 1920s  winding up in Manchuria….Mukden, if I remember correctly, most winding up in San Francisco.

They had to flee, families and all, to escape the champion human killer  of them all, Mao Tse Dung in his battles to conquer China when his  gangs invaded Manchuria in 1949.   Most of them settled in the San Francisco area.

I had studied Russian and Soviet Studies at the University of Minnesota in the early 1950s.   After my army stint I got a summer scholarship to ‘rehabilitate’  my Russian at San Francisco State College where I was introduced to this  exceedingly well educated, elegant, aristocratic, knowledge-driven and polite group of people I had, have ever met….all speaking classical  gorgeous Russian! ……and when needed, gorgeous English with a upper class accent and wordings.

Fussy folk were they!  They were intolerant, impatient when it came to  how their students were going to  pronounce every word.  It better be their  Russian…or else!   I wanted to please them, so I spoke  as I was told.

It came to be handy….not merely because I was going to teach Russian for twelve years, but because I was to be IN the USSR on two occasions, 1966 and again in 1990 a few years before the Soviet citizen prison system of life fell to today’s  second or third rate.

Most of the  summer instructors I had at Middlebury College were folks of the same character,  blood and demands of these classical Russians who settled in San Francisco so many years ago.  Visiting the 1966 Soviet Union was one of the greatest experiences of my life.   The nation required Russian citizens to speak only  Russian in public, or else!

None of these classical Russians then teaching Russian 50 years ago at Middlebury were Communists, Socialists, or Feminazis  of the  kind  we find in this Soviet Middlebury of today.

Isn’t that what happens when a fascistic, feminized culture and its teachings no longer have any interest in seeking TRUTH!?)

The Dem Fascist’s GREEN NEW DEAL!…..coming soon at your local State!?

The Obliviousness and Conniving of the Democratic Party

by Steve McCann  at  American Thinker:By Steve McCann

Election Day, November 3, 2020, is 20 months over the horizon. Already, there are currently eleven declared candidates for the Democratic Party presidential nomination with another eight or ten waiting in the wings.  With this gaggle of dedicated and oblivious leftists jockeying for position, there is no end to the radical proposals and concepts being bandied about.  However, all these policy propositions have three common goals: the rapid erosion of personal freedom, an equally rapid acceleration of the United States into another failed socialist experiment, and the permanent assumption of power by the self-anointed elites on the left and the Democratic Party.

Nothing reflects this programmed allegiance to socialism and the collective ignorance of the leaders of the Democratic Party more than the economic and societal proposals that have emerged and been endorsed by its presidential candidates over the past two months.  On the surface they no doubt sound great to those who pay little or no attention to facts and reality.  A philosophical discourse on the attributes of capitalism versus socialism oftentimes causes the eyes of the true-believers on the left to glaze over and their minds to go blank, but perhaps a financial reality check would be more meaningful.

The following grab bag of serious proposals by the Democrats, and their cost over ten years (in 2019 dollars), reflect the lunacy that has seized so many on the left:

The Green New Deal:

Cost of: Guaranteed Green Housing…$4.2 Trillion

Zero Emissions Transportation System…$2.7 Trillion

Low-Carbon Electricity Grid…$5.4 Trillion

High Speed Rail System…$2.5 Trillion

Federal Income Guarantee for all Americans…$44.6 Trillion

Total………………. $59.4 Trillion

Medicare For All (universal health care)… $32.6 Trillion

Cost of Reparations for African-Americans… $14.0 Trillion

Free College Tuition and Forgiveness of Students Debt…$2.4 Trillion

Interest Expense due to higher borrowing and interest rates…$6.6 Trillion

All the above are new proposals and spending which total $116.0 Trillion.  However, there is still the issue of current government spending at the federal, state and local level.

The Federal Government currently spends (minus health care and interest) $2.9 Trillion per year.

Ten years of this federal spending (assuming a 1.5% real annual increase) …$31.1 Trillion

Current state and local spending (less: health care) $2.95 Trillion per year.

Ten years of this state and local spending (assuming a 1.5% real annual increase… $31.6 Trillion

The unleashed and unhinged Democratic Party and their mad dash to bankrupt the country in combination with what is currently being spent totals: $178.7 Trillion over ten years.

The annual total economic output of the nation is currently $20.0 Trillion (assuming a highly unlikely 1.0% real annual growth) or the nation would have economic activity of  $211.0 Trillion over ten years.  Government spending at all levels would devour 85% of the economic output of the nation.  This year it will be 37%.

The above calculus assumes that the economy could possibly maintain this level of output with all the spending listed above.  With so little capital available to the private sector, and taxes on all productive members of society, by necessity at confiscatory levels, there would be, at first, a stagnant and quickly thereafter a rapidly declining economy.  The vast majority of citizens would no longer be productive, as they would have guaranteed income from the government as long as the government was able to pay — which would not be for long.

The mind-numbed robots on the left often revert to the evergreen solution of “we can borrow the money.”  Currently, the total government debt at the federal, state and local levels is nearly $26.0 Trillion, or 130% of the nation’s total annual economic output (or Gross Domestc Product).  When a nation finds itself in debt to the tune of 200% of its annual GDP, and spending is out of control, borrowing becomes extraordinarily expensive and lenders hard to find.  Therefore, this nation might be able to borrow another $14 to $20 Trillion over ten years, but that would barely make a dent in the above government spending demands.  Besides, the monies would eventually have to be repaid or the assets of the nation sold to the highest bidder.

The other glib answer by the left to the spending demands is “the government can print more money.”  Yes, it can.  But the as the quantity of money available increases, the more rapidly it loses value and more will be required in exchange for tangible goods or services,, which begets additional printing of money in a never-ending downward spiral.

If all this sounds vaguely familiar it was what happened in Venezuela (among more recent examples).

The candidates for the Democratic Party presidential nomination, the senior leadership of the party and its younger members, such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, are either mind numbingly ignorant, indoctrinated robots or they are so desperate for power that they will do or say anything they think will enable them to win elections.  When their economic proposals are combined with their determination to transform the culture and legalize infanticide as well as eventually euthanasia, the Democratic Party is now a clear and present danger to all Americans.

Reviewing the Murder of Abortion

How Democrats’ Obsession With Abortion is Helping the Evangelical Church

by Michael Brown  at   the Stream:                   Article sent by Mark Waldeland.

It is a cycle dating back at least to the days of President Bill Clinton. Evangelical leaders call for urgent prayer because of a “godless” president. We cry out for revival. We hold special prayer rallies. We mobilize believers to vote. Then, when we win the next elections, we take our foot off the gas and we go back to complacency.

That has been a terrible and costly mistake for at least two reasons.

Sensing the Urgency of Prayer for Awakening

First, no president can do what the church is called to do. No president can bring spiritual renewal or moral transformation. Only the church can do that through the gospel.

Second, regardless of who is in office, America remains in desperate need of awakening, while much of the church remains in desperate need of revival.

We have no business taking our foot off the gas. The situation remains urgent.

Fast forward now to the Trump presidency.

Regardless of who is in office, America remains in desperate need of awakening, while much of the church remains in desperate need of revival.

In keeping with our pattern, we protested the policies of President Obama. We decried his pro-LGBT, pro-abortion activism (among other things). We bemoaned his Supreme Court appointees. And we said, “Revival is our only hope!”

Then, with the unlikely rise of Donald Trump (all the more unlikely as the champion of evangelicals), we once again shifted our focus and cut back on our fervent praying for awakening.

Looking to Political Leaders to Do Our Job?

Because of that, the battle is now over allegiance to Trump or opposition to Trump.

The emphasis is now on getting more conservatives on the courts. (To be sure, Trump’s court nominees are highly significant. But they can only accomplish so much.)

The focus is now on the 2020 elections, which will surely be heralded as the most important in our lifetimes (just as the last few elections were described).

Each of these has its place, but we have once again taken our foot off the gas, looking to the White House and Congress and the courts to do what only we can do. Until.

Until something major happened.

Evil Revealed

The Kavanaugh hearings revealed the fangs of the radical pro-abortionists.

The new abortion laws in New York and Vermont (along with one proposed in Virginia) reminded us of abortionists’ blood lust.

Pro-infanticide comments made by the governor of Virginia shocked the sensibilities of many moderate Americans.

And now, as reported by LifeNews, “House Republicans will bring up the request to vote on the Born Alive bill every day for the next 30 days,” thereby forcing Democrats to show their hand. (So far, Democrats have blocked the vote the first two days.)

Help us champion truth, freedom, limited government and human dignity. Support The Stream »

As Rep. Steve Scalise tweeted, “Before the entire House, I asked for immediate consideration of a bill that protects infants born alive during abortions. But Democrats rejected my motion and refused to consider it. Why won’t they go on record and tell the American people where they stand on infanticide?”

All this has freshly energized pro-life Christians across America, including many a pastor who had remained on the sidelines in the past.

Pro-life Christians Speaking Out

Pro-life Christians are speaking out openly and clearly, some of them for the first time in their lives.

They are recognizing the church’s complicity in the sin of abortion, primarily because of our silence and inactivity.

They are asking, “What can we do? How can we make a difference?”

They are even calling for days of repentance and prayer and mourning.

This is very important and represents a major step forward. If only we will learn to keep the pedal to the metal!

Now, More Than Ever, We Must Remain Energized to Repent and Pray

Now, more than ever, we need to seek God for genuine revival and awakening.

Now, more than ever, we need to take stock of our own lives, getting our own houses in order and turning away from disobedience.

Now, more than ever, both on our knees and in the streets, we need to push back against America’s culture of death and restore a culture of life.

Now, more than ever, we need to put our trust in the Lord rather than in politics (although we pray for our political leaders and remain politically involved).

Now, more than ever, we cannot be distracted from our mission and our calling.

To Seek God Is Urgent Now and Will Be for Years to Come

The hour truly is urgent, regardless of who is in the White House and who sits on the courts. And the hour will be urgent for years to come.

America is teetering on the edge of moral anarchy and spiritual confusion.

The pro-abortion, infanticide-endorsing militants are overplaying their hand, and millions of evangelicals (and others) are waking up.

The church must be renewed. The church must lead the way. Jesus must be central.

Otherwise, collapse is near.

Thankfully, what people mean for evil God can turn for good, and that’s exactly what is happening today.

The pro-abortion, infanticide-endorsing militants are overplaying their hand, and millions of evangelicals (and others) are waking up.

Let us be vigilant and diligent, staying alert, staying active and staying on guard.

We cannot afford to take our foot off the gas again, let alone fall asleep at the wheel.

Ditsy Klobuchar Joins Her “Fellow” Ditsies to Socialize a Soviet America

KLOBUCHAR JOINS THE RACE

by John Hinderaker  at PowerLine:

As expected, Senator Amy Klobuchar announced this afternoon that she is running for president. Why not? Everyone else is. Scott has written about Klobuchar a number of times, most recently here.

Klobuchar made her announcement in snow-covered Minneapolis. Predictably, she described herself as the candidate of everyone:

“I am running for every parent who wants a better world for their kids. I’m running for every student who wants a good education,” Klobuchar said. “For every senior who wants affordable prescription drugs. For every worker, farmer, dreamer and builder. I am running for every American. I am running for you.”

Somehow, though, I’ve got a sneaking suspicion she isn’t running for me.

Klobuchar’s all-things-to-all-people approach has served her well in Minnesota. She is good at constituent service and gets quite a bit of support from the business community. In the Senate, she has focused mostly on uncontroversial small-ball–product safety and the like–and she is personally pleasant toward local conservatives. I don’t know her well, but she is cordial when I run into her, as, most recently, when I testified before the Joint Economic Committee, of which she is a member. Coincidentally, her husband worked for me quite a few years ago. I get along fine with him, too.

I make these personal observations because they are an important part of Klobuchar’s political persona. Her voting record is just as bad as any other Senate Democrat’s, but her leftism comes in a moderate package. If she can fool a lot of Minnesota businessmen, she likely can appeal to relatively moderate Democratic primary voters, too.

Klobuchar’s bland image obscures the same vaulting ambition that characterizes almost any serious presidential candidate. (A friend who has been active in DFL politics for decades describes Klobuchar as the most ambitious Minnesota Democrat since Walter Mondale.) And also, apparently, a considerable amount of rage. Lately, she has been in the news because of longstanding reports of her abusive treatment of staff. Whether voters will care remains to be seen.

The obvious question is whether Klobuchar will be one of the finalists when the 20-odd Democratic presidential wannabes sort themselves out. It is way too early to tell, of course, but I think she may be. Openly leftist candidates, of which there are many, will split the crazy-Democrat vote. While most primary voters will fall into that category, there is room for someone (maybe a couple of someones) closer to the center. It is easy to imagine that when the primary season approaches a climax, whoever becomes the chief “moderate” candidate will face off against three or four uncompromising leftists. That moderate, or faux-moderate, candidate could well be Amy Klobuchar. Neither her drive, nor her discipline, nor her political skills should be underestimated.

I would not be shocked if, when the dust settles, Amy Klobuchar is the Democrats’ choice to face off against President Trump. But first, she will have to show that she can get traction in a Democratic electorate that is more or less crazed.

From  whom, indeed, does this Soviet ditsy chick get her idea I possess any of her IN ME?  I am not a “Soviet”.   I believe, as do most Americans outside of our DITSY world, we are supposed to become   civilized  human beings born with a responsibility  to grow into an adulthood where WE   MAKE ADULT, TRUTHFUL LIVES AND DECISIONS ABOUT OURSELVES, OUR  FAMILIES,  AND OUR GOVERNORS.

I HAVE BEEN IN THE UNION OF SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLIC TWICE,  in 1966 and in 1990……where TRUTHS  NEVER MATTERED  IN OR EMANATED  FROM GOVERNMENT!

DITSIES ARE SOMETHING ELSE AMERICAN INDEED!  THESE FEMS OF ALL SEXES, SHAPES, COLORS, AND SIZES,  DON’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT FREEDOM!   THEY, BEING FEMINIZED,  WANT TO BE TAKEN CARE OF BY  BILLIONAIRE SOVIET MASTERS!   GHR

Jobs!! What the Pelosi Fascistic American Press Bans from the American Brain!

Shutdown? What Shutdown? US Adds 304,000 Jobs In January

(Note:  Remember fellow Americans!  It is inherent in the human female animal to disdain, not practice,  seeking TRUTH!   She is born to feel, to judge, and embellish, cherish, express feelings, seek comfort and safety  for her (God given family she  by Nature or Nature’s God, is driven to bear.  Her  primary purpose in life on Earth is to secure her ability, skills, affection to bear,  deliver and protect her young  children of  the human species in order to continue that species.

The human male animal has  been, and still is  born, even trained to be  a killer, a protector, a builder, an inventor,  driven to protect his own, his family,  his tribe, his nation.    I felt that drive in its milder form that moment, being raised Christian, being married, the moment our first child was born, and repeated at the birth of the two that followed…..and have felt so about them  nearly everyday since “in rain or shine, in joy or sorrow!”

However, that American family and its culture barely  exists in our year AD2019.   There has been  no time for it, no room for it, no learning for it.  We in a Pelosi world where Truth has neither meaning nor existence.  In AD2016 the rising American  “fascistics” drove their Hillary down the American political throat……but the United States of America DID NOT SWALLOW IT!

ON THAT 8TH OF NOVEMBER, ALONG CAME DONALD J. TRUMP!!  AND  WE HAVE BECOME BLESSED!!

(Let us review the “horrors” of the five-week shutdown the fascistic Dems have perpetrated upon today’s American…its citizens and its 20,000,000 Dem invaders intended to increase the power of their  fascism for America).

The following article by Ed Morrissey occurred in HotAir:

If the five-week shutdown had any impact on the economy, employers overlooked it — in droves. In January, the US added the most jobs in nearly a year, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported net job creation for the month at 304,000. Unemployment rose a little higher to 4.0% as temporary layoffs surged in the public sector due to the shutdown:

SEE ALSO: Elizabeth Warren to Cherokee Nation: Sorry about that DNA test

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 304,000 in January, and the unemployment rate edged up to 4.0 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job gains occurred in several industries, including leisure and hospitality, construction, health care, and transportation and warehousing.

Both the unemployment rate, at 4.0 percent, and the number of unemployed persons, at 6.5 million, edged up in January. The impact of the partial federal government shutdown contributed to the uptick in these measures. Among the unemployed, the number who reported being on temporary layoff increased by 175,000. This figure includes furloughed federal employees who were classified as unemployed on temporary layoff under the definitions used in the household survey.

The labor force participation rate remained above 63% for the second straight month, demonstrating that more of the old overhang has been reversed:

RECOMMENDED

The labor force participation rate, at 63.2 percent, and the employment-population ratio, at 60.7 percent, changed little over the month; both measures were up by 0.5 percentage point over the year.

The former number had been stuck around 62.7% for five years or more. Analysts insisted that the generationally low number was the result of the leading edge of Baby Boomer retirement, but the growth in that number over the past year strongly suggests that workers are reentering the labor force as jobs open up. It matches a similar growth in the employment-population ratio that had been stuck in the 59+% range since the Great Recession until January 2017. It has grown almost a full point over the past two years.

Over the same period, wages have begun rising after years of stagnation. The BLS reports that wages have increased 3.2% over the past year after a modest rise in January. That also suggests that a labor overhang was keeping wage growth down, and that we have either eliminated or greatly reduced that overhang in the past couple of years.

Today’s results blew far past Reuters’ predictions, even accounting for a downward revision for November and December:

Nonfarm payrolls jumped by 304,000 jobs last month, the largest gain since February 2018, the Labor Department said. Job growth was boosted by hiring at construction sites, retailers and business services as well as at restaurants and hotels.

But data for November and December was revised down to show 70,000 fewer jobs created than previously reported. The economy needs to create roughly 100,000 jobs per month to keep up with growth in the working-age population.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast payrolls increasing by 165,000 jobs in January.

CNBC noted that the results are counterintuitive, especially considering the season:

https://player.cnbc.com/p/gZWlPC/cnbc_global?playertype=synd&byGuid=7000063300&size=530_298

January job growth shatters expectations from CNBC.

Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had expected payrolls to rise by 170,000 and the unemployment rate to hold steady at 3.9 percent.

In all, it was a powerful performance at a time when economists increasingly have said they expect growth to slow in 2019. January marked 100 months in a row of positive job creation, by far the longest streak on record.

It’s a bonanza of a report for Donald Trump, a solid win on the economy — and a much-needed change of subject on the shutdown. The report demonstrates that worry over the economic impact of the shutdown was mostly exaggerated, at least up to the point when it ended. Had air traffic snarled any further, it likely would have had bad impacts on job growth in February, but for the most part the shutdown didn’t have an impact outside of those directly affected by the furlough.

Can the economy maintain this momentum? Trump needs months like these in September and October 2020 more than he needs them in January 2019. But the White House will still be glad to see this now nonetheless, and they should be.

Our Beloved America’s Battle Against Today’s Dem Fascist Attacks Upon Our Nation’s Body and Soul!!!!

The Ruling Class and an Undeclared Civil War

by Steve McCann  at American Thinker;By Steve McCann

Over the past 73 years, devoid of any meaningful national misfortune, the American social order has undergone a major transformation.  Historically, societies tend to stratify themselves along economic or pre-ordained class lines.  The United States has long prided itself on the belief that class distinctions were no longer a part of a unique American culture.  However, the current social structure has evolved into a near impregnable three-tier categorization in which the ruling class, that sits astride the social order, has revealed, thanks to the election of Donald Trump, open and unabashed disdain for the two lower classes and the unleashing of a radicalized army of malcontents.

The citizens who provide the primary labor and resources for the economic engine of the country constitute the second tier.  The third is comprised of those who have been betrayed by a self-serving education system and are conditioned to be totally dependent upon a government dominated by the ruling class.

Unlike any other period in the nation’s history, one stratum of society, the American elites of the past half-century, by their control of education, entertainment, the media and politics, have totally dominated and overwhelmingly and negatively influenced the culture and national character.  They are chiefly responsible for what it is today.

This American aristocracy is now entirely made up of those who have no recall or firsthand experience of the years of adversity prior to 1940.   Their entire point of reference is never-ending affluence and the pursuit of pleasure within an overall framework of world peace.  Yet this assemblage is dominated by a comparatively few committed ideologues and so-called intellectuals who are dedicated to permanently altering the economy and American culture.  Nonetheless, they have been very successful in attracting many others by appealing to their vanity and avarice.

Thus entrance into this class is not entirely a factor of birth or wealth but rather that of developing a mindset of superiority similar to the evolution of cliques within a high school setting.  This attitude is further reinforced and promoted in the incubator that is the college campus, wherein this mindset is further enhanced by the academic elites waxing eloquent about the failings of the United States and the ideal of a classless society — led, of course, by the pre-eminent class…themselves and their their naïve recruits.

Once having left the bubble that is the university environment, the majority of these same recruits, still influenced by their university experience and desirous of maintaining a standing within the circle, look to the anointed leaders in the mainstream media, the entertainment industry and politics to set the agenda and dialog.  Further, by being an accepted member of this class it is far easier to be ushered by the gate-keepers onto the path of making a substantial living be it in government, academia, Wall Street, the media or a myriad of non-profit advocacy groups.

To achieve and retain these benefits, it becomes paramount to retain membership within the congregation and do their bidding rather than question what the pronouncements and policies of their titular leaders would do to the culture and well-being of the country at large.  Thus, while proclaiming to be independent thinkers, no faction in American society is more acquiescent to groupthink and conformity.

The reality is that the majority of those in the ruling class are mind-numbed eternal adolescents hell-bent on pushing the boundaries of ethical and moral behavior and viewing all political and policy issues as a war between their side and their mortal enemies (those who oppose the transformation of the nation into a socialist oligarchy, the concomitant erosion of liberty as well as unrestrained personal behavior).  While there are a few comparatively independent thinkers within the group that do question the over-reaching of a powerful central government, their opposition is muted and limited to a more gradualist approach as their concession to remain within the fold.

An all-powerful central government is vital to maintaining the elite’s power, income base and pre-eminent class status and must be protected at all cost.  In order to retain their supremacy, the tactics of outright lies, innuendos, and character assassinations, as well as exploitation of national tragedies to impugn their adversaries, have been utilized by the foot soldiers in the mainstream media, the political establshment and the entertainment industry.

The eight years of the Obama administration rudely awakened a sleeping populace.  Many of whom, also benefiting from the overwhelming economic growth and absence of national adversity over the past half-century, had consciously chosen to ignore what was happening to the culture and future well-being of the country.  Thus, the election of Donald Trump was in essence the revenge of the lower classes for not only the overbearing and condescending attitude of the elites but their ongoing success in transforming American society and culture.

Faced with the exposure of their agenda and the real prospect of losing their status and influence, the disdain toward the lower classes, which had always bubbled beneath the surface, burst forth in a volcanic eruption of uncontrolled vitriol, anger and absurdity.

The denizens of the ruling class unleashed their out of control foot soldiers on the citizenry, employing the tactics and weapons previously aimed at their political enemies.   Today vast swaths of the American populace, whether they voted for Trump or not, are indiscriminately accused of being racists, misogynists, white supremacists, ignoramuses, religious zealots, xenophobes and malcontents.

Intimidation and threats of violence are no longer condemned so long as it is directed at those identified as a threat to the hegemony of the elites.  Various social media platforms are being hijacked and weaponized by the mindless and radicalized brain-dead army of elite wannabes, the ruling class chooses not to restrain, in order to terrorize and permanently cower those in the second tier of society — the citizens who provide the primary labor and resources for the economic engine of the country.

There is at present an undeclared and non-violent civil war being waged in this country.  The underlying factor of any civil war is an elite ruling class desperate to maintain power at odds with a majority of a population seeking change.   Also prevalent in most civil upheavals is the unleashing, by those determined to retain power, of the radicalized and ultimately uncontrollable dogs of war who more often than not devour their sponsors.  Both elements are currently in play.

While the ruling class publicly obsesses over Donald Trump and denigrates the vast majority of the population, they have planted the seeds, by their actions, for a takeover of the country by a radical element that will turn on them as they are presently doing within the Democratic Party.

The American people must understand that the current ruling class will not willingly exit the stage or take on their mercenary army.  Donald Trump, while perhaps accomplishing a significant degree of change, cannot induce their demise.   This threat can only be marginalized through the determined utilization of political process which will encompass a number of political cycles and the long-term willingness to not be intimidated or cowed into submission.  The future of the nation as founded is at stake.

Fascistic Dems Led By Ditsy Pelosi Face Trouble in River City?

A BATTLE THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION SHOULD RELISH

by Paul Mirengoff  at PowerLine:

Yesterday, John noted that the escalating Democratic attacks on Catholicism are, in part, an attempt to prepare the battlefield for the day when Justice Ginsburg dies or is unable to continue on the Supreme Court. In that event, said John, President Trump will likely nominate Judge Amy Coney Barrett to replace Ginsburg, and Democrats will make Barrett’s religious faith the basis for attacking her nomination.

To which I say, bring it on.

Judge Barrett is the mother of seven children. Two of them were adopted from Haiti. Her youngest biological child has special needs. She is a remarkable and very sympathetic women.

In addition, she is a first rate legal mind. Barrett graduated summa cum laude from the Notre Dame Law School, where she was executive editor of the Notre Dame Law Review. She then clerked for our friend Judge Laurence Silberman on the D.C. Circuit and for Justice Scalia on the Supreme Court.

As a law professor at Notre Dame, Barrett was twice named “distinguished professor of the year.” She continues to teach law as a sitting judge.

Do the Democrats really want to got after someone this sympathetic and this distinguished because she believes in the tenets of the Catholic faith? The answer seems to be yes. After all, they did it when Barrett’s nomination to the court of appeals was before the Senate.

But the Supreme Court is different. The public pays virtually no attention to battles over appeals court nominees. By contrast, as we saw with Brett Kavanaugh, fights over Supreme Court nominees rivet the nation.

Let’s say, hypothetically, that Judge Barrett is nominated to the Supreme Court in mid 2020, as the presidential race is heating up. Let’s hypothesize further that Senate Democrats try once again to savage Barrett because, as Sen. Feinstein once put it, Catholic dogma “lives loudly within” her.

How would serious, believing Catholic voters take this? Probably not well.

For this reason and because of her stellar qualifications, I’d be delighted to see President Trump nominate Judge Barrett for the Supreme Court if the opportunity arises. I’m a little less confident than John that Trump would nominate her. She interviewed with Trump for the last vacancy. According to the rumor mill, for whatever that might be worth, the interview didn’t go that well.

But if the Democrats are prepping the battlefield for a fight over Judge Barrett’s religious beliefs, it’s because (as John suggested) they can’t help themselves, not because they are thinking clearly about strategy.
