More on that Dem House Vote to Condemn President Trump’s Alleged “Racist Comments”

The white supremacy phantom

Does Donald Trump’s habit of tweaking the commentariat mean he must be impeached?

by Roger Kimball  at Spectator USA

Well la-dee-dah. The House votes to condemn ‘President Trump for his “racist comments” about four Democratic congresswomen of color.’

First, I am glad that ‘racist comments’ was in scare quotes. Why? Because there was nothing racist about the president’s tweets inviting creeps like Somali-born Rep. Ilhan Omar to leave the United States if she doesn’t like it here.

Second, I wish people would give the phrase ‘people of color’ a rest. Everyone is a color — even, I suppose, Albinos (is that ‘racist’ now, too?). I, for example, am a pleasing pink.

But the fact that someone is dark-skinned imparts to him no special virtue, just as the fact that someone is Caucasian saddles him with no special liability.

Except, alas, that it does. At least in the racist court of identity politics.

Please note the absence of scare quotes around ‘racist’ this time. It is one of the signal moral and intellectual deformations of our time that many people strain every action through the sieve of racial redress. The result is that a pretended campaign against racism is fueled by a thoroughly racist imperative. Remember that the next time someone condemns the phantom of ‘white supremacy.’ It is a category as vacuous as ‘counter-revolutionary’ for a paid-up Jacobin or ‘bourgeois capitalist’ for a Marxist.

I generally agree that the habit of dividing the world into people who do or think X and people who do or think the opposite is sloppy and unilluminating. But I am struck (as I have often been struck when the subject is Donald Trump) by how starkly divided is the response to the president’s tweets about the ‘Squad,’ the loud-mouthed, stunningly ill-informed, freshman representatives who have soaked up most of the limelight and press coverage over the past several of months.

I am also struck by how divided the world of the chattering class is about the president’s recent tweets. It all started a couple of days ago with this fusillade:

‘We will never be a Socialist or Communist Country. IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY HERE, YOU CAN LEAVE! It is your choice, and your choice alone. This is about love for America. Certain people HATE our Country…They are anti-Israel, pro Al-Qaeda, and comment on the 9/11 attack, “some people did something.” Radical Left Democrats want Open Borders, which means drugs, crime, human trafficking, and much more.’

Several friends wrote to ask what I thought. ‘I like it,’ I said, or words to that effect. So did they, and they, by the way, were a diversegroup (that’s good, right? Diversity is good?). We all agreed that the president’s follow-up today was also the stuff to give them:

‘Our Country is Free, Beautiful and Very Successful. If you hate our Country, or if you are not happy here, you can leave!’

This sent National Review’s Pastor David French right around the bend, but then I think that around the bend is where Pastor French lives. Indeed, his incontinent and hyper-moralistic rage over the president’s comments made me wonder (not for the first time) whether he was not, as advertised, a conservative commentator but rather a ‘woke’ progressive plant insinuated into the venerable pages of NR in order to wreak havoc. Judging by the comments to his posts, I conclude that many of the magazine’s readers agree with me.

But there are plenty of ordinary intelligent mortals who were aghast at the president’s tweets. One savvy friend opined that above all they were ‘stupid’ because they played into the hands of his enemies. There might be something to that. After all, she of the fancy head dress, Rep. Ilhan Omar, is yapping about ‘impeachment’ today.

Maybe the tetrarchy of AOC, Omar, and the other two ladies whose names I forget will be able to drive Donald Trump from office because he tweeted something they find offensive. The economic performance of the country, the stunning unemployment figures, the energy independence of the country, the judicial appointments, the roll-back of onerous regulation, the dazzling stock market — forget all that: Donald Trump said something these moist and agitated anti-Semites don’t like. Definitely grounds for impeachment.

About this, at least, I think everyone can agree. Donald Trump is a polarizing figure. I do not have the opportunity to hob nob with many NeverTrumpers. But I have plenty of friends who find themselves, faute de mieux, wary Trump supporters. They tend to take a dim view of the meme (I think we’re supposed to call it a ‘meme’) that Trump is playing eight-dimensional chess while the rest of us slobs are trying to edge a pawn forward. I think that is probably right. But another friend who enthused to me this morning about how brilliant Trump was in issuing those tweets also has a point. We were all told how positively bovine Trump was when it came to smarts and savoir faire — remember Graydon Carter’s ‘short-finger vulgarian’ quip? That was from the 1980s.

I chuckled when I heard that. And you know what? It isn’t wrong. It’s just not the whole story. It turns out that Donald Trump is plenty smart. He is also — and this may be the quality about which his critics are especially obtuse — blisteringly funny. I think, for example, of his comment to Jim Acosta the other day in the aftermath of the G20 meeting. Acosta asked whether the president wasn’t concerned that his friendly comments about the smarmy Saudi prince MBS might offend people. ‘I don’t really care about offending people,’ Trump said, ‘I sort of thought you’d know that.’

Brrrringggg! Game. Set. Match. What could Acosta say?

Bottom line: I think that ‘the Squad’ are like the jesters that monarchs of old used to have. Not in every respect. They are not, for example, intentionally funny. But they are a source of entertainment. No one takes them seriously.

Some of my readers may forget, but I entered this fray as a dedicated anti-Trumper. I wrote, gosh, a score of articles criticizing Trump in the most categorical terms.

But then the worst happened and the choice was Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. I have rehearsed all of this before and will not repeat it now. Suffice it to say that I regarded the choice as binary. I was not going to throw my vote away on Evan McMuffin or whatever his name was. It was Hillary, who was impossible, or Trump, who was merely frightful.

I chose frightful and have been pleasantly surprised. As I have said many times over the last couple of years, Donald Trump has presided over the most astonishingly successful opening years as president in a very long time, maybe ever. I don’t worry about his ‘character’ or his Tabasco tweets. I rather enjoy them, to tell the truth, not least because they challenge the pieties of political correctness.

Naturally, there is fine print. Past performance is no guarantee of future returns and a week is a long time in politics, as Harold Wilson said. Donald Trump is a risk taker. He also loves tweaking people. Much of what he says offends the commentariat. They are appalled at his bad manners, his insensitivity, his boorishness. It’s my sense, though, that the country at large finds it rather refreshing — odd, perhaps, maybe a little worrisome, but refreshing.

We’re at peace. We’ve never been more prosperous. I think Donald Trump can afford to set the pigeon among the hens with impunity.

Fascistic Dems Drive to Change America Forever!

Democrats care more about helping illegal aliens than Americans

by Joseph Curl  at the Washington Times:

The  contrast is stark.

While President Trump is working daily to improve the economy, create good-paying jobs and solve pressing problems facing Americans, the biggest issue right now for Democrats running for president in 2020 is helping illegal aliens get into the United States to get services paid for by U.S. taxpayers.

Some candidates are literally going to Mexico to literally help foreigners literally cross the border.

Sen. Cory A. Booker, New Jersey Democrat, last week went into Mexico to help escort five female foreigners into the United States, according to Fox News. He crossed the El Paso, Texas, port of entry into Ciudad Juarez with several immigrant-rights attorneys to help the women get admitted into the U.S. after they had been sent back to Mexico.

It’s becoming a popular political stunt. In his first international trip as a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, former Rep. Robert “Beto” O’Rourke of Texas also traveled to Ciudad Juarez to meet what his campaign called “individuals and families directly impacted by Donald Trump’s cruel and inhumane policies,” The Associated Press reported.

Dems’ Socialism Only a Few Steps from Soviet Style Fascism

Where the Democrats are Trying to Take Us

by Steve McCann  at American Thinker:

After watching the first two Democratic Party presidential debates last week, it has become crystal clear that there are embedded in this nation’s body politic prospective oligarchs who are overwhelming threats to the future of the nation.  The Democratic Party and its puppet masters are unquestionably a clear and present danger to the United States

The primary threat to this nation is not Donald Trump nor his supporters but an evolving autocratic oligarchy made up of the hierarchy of American Left, which includes elements of the political class, the mainstream media, the education establishment and, most recently, the titans of Silicon Valley.  Over the past 25 years, while the bulk of the Republican Party and the hierarchy of the conservative movement  myopically extended the hand of friendship, this cabal has been overwhelmingly successful in their stealth takeover of the Democratic Party, which is now the vehicle being utilized to manipulate the “unenlightened and inferior” masses with utopian promises and empty rhetoric.

They are doing so by promoting a so-called benevolent and just central government (i.e. socialism) dominated in perpetuity by the “enlightened” while promoting their brand of socialism and obliterating any opposition.  Additionally, their evolving position on abortion and euthanasia reflects the mindset that deems virtually all human beings as mere pawns of the state.

The common mindset of all those determined to seize power in perpetuity, either by force of arms or the ballot box, is a profound contempt for the dignity and sanctity of human life.  This is a philosophical necessity in order to view the bulk of the populace as inferior and therefore servants and wards of the state to be exploited or restrained for political or economic ends.  Over time, this mentality inevitably and rapidly descends into the abyss of malevolence and the indiscriminate taking of life.  The first irreversible step in the evolution of this mindset is unfettered abortion at any stage of gestation or immediately after birth as well as the acceptance and promotion of unrestrained government sponsored euthanasia.

Additionally, over the past 90 years virtually all potential oligarchs or tyrants have utilized the following six political stratagems, that do not require armed conflict, in order to permanently obliterate any opposition.  They were first employed by Adolf Hitler and documented by renowned American Psychoanalyst, Dr. Walter C Langer:

  1. Keep the public in a state of constant turmoil.  Pre-identify favored groups by race, economic status, ideology or religion and through constant repetition by allies in the media and entertainment cabal, establish that any perceived disadvantage within those assemblages is solely the fault of another pre-identified and isolated group, particularly Jews, traditional Christians and the capitalists.
  2. Never concede that there may be some good in your political enemy.  State loudly and often that they are a permanent adversary because they are determined to oppress the favored groups identified in 1) above as well as being racist, avaricious, treasonous etc. (i.e. the worst people on earth).  Thus, abrogation of their free speech privileges, their right to own firearms and to freely assemble is not only acceptable but a necessity.
  3. Never miss an opportunity to repeatedly and loudly blame one’s political enemy for anything that goes wrong regardless of how inane or unreasonable.  Thus, faux crises must be orchestrated as often as possible in order to blame the other side.  Further, any natural disaster or any aggressive action by a foreign adversary must also be attributed to one’s political adversary.
  4. Never acknowledge or divulge that your side is at fault or wrong regardless of the situation or issue.
  5. Never, under any circumstances, leave room for civil discourse regarding alternative societal or governmental policies by proclaiming that those promoting any alternative have a hidden treasonous agenda.  Continually maintain the assertion as being irrefutable that a central government, in the hands of the enlightened, can resolve any issue and make life better.
  6. Finally, always utilize the ultimate tactic in promoting dogma or denigrating one’s opponent: The Big Lie.  People will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if it is repeated frequently enough, people will sooner or later accept it as the truth.  The fabricated dire consequences of so-called climate change; the contrived narrative of Donald Trump colluding with Russia; the myth of rampant white nationalism and the illusion that this is a virulently racist nation are recent examples of this stratagem.

Even the least politically involved Americans can see that over the past two decades, the hierarchy of the American Left and its appendages as well as many elected officials in the Democratic Party have been shamelessly utilizing all these tactics.

Further, this clique, in their disdain for human life is not only exploiting gullible and ill-educated armies of illegal immigrants as pawns in an attempt to create a new and reliable voting bloc and rend the fabric of the nation; they are also unabashedly in favor of unfettered abortion at any stage of gestation, upon birth or shortly thereafter, and have also begun promoting unrestrained euthanasia.

As confirmed by all 24 candidates presently running for the Democratic Party presidential nomination singing out of the same hymn book, this potential oligarchy, in order to assume power in perpetuity, is continuing its attempt to hoodwink the electorate with deceptive and unrealizable utopian promises straight out of the Marxian Socialist playbook.

Hence, the American Left, and its political arm– the Democratic Party– is the ideological and spiritual offspring of the callous authoritarians that ran roughshod throughout the twentieth century.  The American Left may not harbor the murderous and tyrannical urges of many of those despots but their determination to control all the levers of power is no different.  Over the past century, Socialism, regardless of its many names and faces, is a contrived Ponzi scheme utilized by those with either megalomaniacal or ruthless inclinations in order to permanently insert themselves at the helm of a nation’s ruling structure.

During the more than two years of his presidency, Donald Trump has not employed these self-serving tactics, he is unabashedly a promoter of pro-life causes and he has been a champion of liberty and capitalism.  As someone who has firsthand experience with the tyranny of Nazism or National Socialism, I can say with confidence that Donald Trump is the antithesis of a potential despot and that the vast bulk of those who support him are patriots and the polar opposite of Fascist sympathizers.

Because of the unique structure of checks and balances set out in the Constitution, this nation can only function with two major political parties.  One of these, the Democratic Party, as these dreadful debates reinforced, is now controlled by authoritarian oligarchs.  Never in its 243-year history has the United States faced such a stark political contrast or threat to its founding principles.

Unless and until the Democratic Party permanently rids itself of those in the thrall of socialism and afflicted with megalomania or is discarded on the ash heap of history, the American people, and in particular many elected Republicans and the myopic self-serving Never Trump faction in the hierarchy of the conservative movement, must understand that there is no option other than Donald Trump in 2020 and a vibrant combative conservative pro- American or nationalist movement for the foreseeable future.

Leftist Dems Go Antifa Savage in Portland, Oregon

MORE ANTIFA OUTRAGES IN PORTLAND

by John Hinderaker  at  PowerLine:

I wrote here about an attack by Antifa criminals on journalist Andy Ngo in Portland on Saturday. Ngo was hospitalized and had several thousand dollars worth of camera equipment destroyed. It turns out that at about the same time, in a different area of the Antifa rampage, Brownshirt thugs attacked and seriously injured two other men.

Rather than re-tell the story, I will simply embed Michelle Malkin’s tweets, which include photographs of the victims:

Michelle says that these two men were beaten by the fascist thugs because they tried to help a gay man who was being chased by Antifa. Be that as it may, there are many members of Antifa who should be serving long prison sentences. Once again, I call on all Democrats to stop defending and promoting Antifa, and rather to disavow the fascists in their midst.

Obama Lies Were the Foundation of the Schumer and Pelosi Lies about President Trump, the Person AND the Administration

The External Roots of Spygate

by Leo Goldstein at American Thinker:

.

Over the past three years, the MSM has done a thorough job brainwashing its captive audience into believing that Putin preferred, supported, or even colluded with Trump in the 2016 elections. Not only was this untrue, but even the idea of such a preference, much less collusion, was ridiculous in the U.S. in the spring of 2016. Russia was our ally in the fight against terror, and CIA Director John Brennan visited FSB head Gennadiy Bortnikov in Moscow in March 2016.

Not Trump, but the Democratic party and Hillary Clinton personally were the perfect fit for Putin. Hillary Clinton started her tenure as Secretary of State by implementing a “reset” with Russia in 2009. During 2012, Russia joined the World Trade Organization, and the West bought from it hot air (carbon credits). Later that year, Obama was caught on mic promising Medvedev that he would become even more accommodating towards Russia after the election. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama sold Uranium One to Russia, organized the transfer of dual-use technology in Skolkovo, and allied themselves with Russian-funded groups against fracking and pipelines in the U.S.  Allegations that Putin had a personal grudge against Hillary, and kept it for five years, are just laughable.

Trump conducted a Miss Universe pageant in Russia in 2013, and that was all. As a presidential candidate, he promised a U.S. military buildup, and he said the U.S. should shoot down Russian interceptors that were reportedly harassing U.S. military planes in international airspace, after appropriate diplomatic steps.

The ideation of a Putin-Trump association and of Russian interference on Trump’s behalf came from Western Europe. People of Germany, Britain, and other EU states were dissatisfied with policies robbing them of their sovereignty.  European politicians wanted to crush dissent, and Russia and Putin became a convenient boogeyman. The government of Angela Merkel blamed Russia for public protests. This is how Obama advisor Ben Rhodes illustrated this attitude in his book The World as It Is:

In Germany, Merkel’s spokesperson told me about how fake news impacted their politics… A rape, for instance, caused a huge outcry in a community. For days, there were protests, political fallout. … “And we trace the story, and it started with a social media user with a German-sounding name, but something is not exactly right. The name is a little off. And the server, it is not German…Russians…”

Later, James Clapper expressed a similar sentiment, saying that the Russians are “almost genetically driven to co-opt, penetrate, gain favor, whatever.” Peter Strzok and Lisa Page exchanged comparable texts immediately before officially launching Crossfire Hurricane.

Rhodes’ quote continues:

I thought about all the made-up stories about Hillary — her ill health, her corruption, her crimes.

Sorry for making you laugh amid such a serious matter.

Apparently, the hysteria about alleged Russian internet operations was based on a small study of coordinated political trolling in Latvia. The study didn’t include Germany, Britain, or any other large European country, and its conclusions are inapplicable to them. But the study is clear on one point:

…the influence of pro-Russian trolling on leading US media outlets demonstrated the opposite outcome to that expected.

While Germans protested Merkel’s immigration policies, the British demanded freedom from the European Union, and were preparing to vote on Brexit. The old guard, which has almost stolen the country from its citizens, also blamed Russia and Putin.

In April 2016, Obama went to Britain to stomp against Brexit, an interference in British domestic affairs, obviously inviting reciprocation — interference from the British government in the U.S. elections on behalf of the Democratic party. Here, the connection between Trump and the U.S. elections was even stronger. Rhodes laments:

…the Brexit campaign was tapping into the same sense of nationalism and nostalgia that the Trump campaign was promoting back home: the days of Churchill, the absence of immigrants and intrusive international institutions.

The Obama administration’s desire to subject this country to intrusive international institutions is an important admission. Trump is a defender of U.S. sovereignty, and such institutions are its enemies.

The Eurocrats confused the invented threat of “Russian influence campaigns” with the real prospect that Trump would not be their ally against their own people — unlike Obama or Hillary. In their imagination, the Trump-Putin nexus was natural. Ben Rhodes unintentionally confirms this point by quoting the chief of staff to then Prime Minister David Cameron:

“You’re not worried that he [Trump] can win? Putin would like nothing more.  Some of our people,” he said, referring to conservatives who support Brexit, “say that he’s tapped into something with this immigration issue.”

The Obama administration’s propensity to accommodate EU and UN agendas primed it to believe lies about Trump. It looks as if the Obama administration imported both the obsession with “Russian influence campaigns” and the wacky idea of a Trump-Putin connection. European governments created projects to combat “Russian influence campaigns” at home and abroad, joined by the Obama administration in April 2016.

On May 13, exactly one week after CrowdStrike privately attributed the DNC hacking to an imaginary GRU hacking group APT28 (“Fancy Bear”), German secret police (BfV) publicly blamed the same imaginary group for the Bundestag hacking that happened a year earlier. The DNC emails, published by WikiLeaks on July 22, were probably leaked by a disgruntled Bernie supporter, unrelated to hacking.

In mid-April 2016, Bruce & Nellie Ohr were in contact with the German Embassy, discussing with its first secretary what the Germans called “Impact of Russian influence operations in Europe (‘PsyOps/InfoWar’)” and the embassy’s offer to provide “Russia analysts.” They also invited the secretary to their house. What came out of it is unknown because they deleted the emails immediately.

By the end of May, the conspiracy theory of Trump-Putin collusion has been already developed. Obama’s AG Loretta Lynch has testified:

…the constellation of things that have come to be known as the Russia investigation, things were brought to my attention in 2016, I believe it was the spring… the late spring …by the Director [Comey] and Deputy Director [McCabe]… And over the course of the summer most of briefings on that issue were shifted to the National Security Council level.

The National Security Council Principals are “some of the highest-ranking officials in the government, including the secretaries of State, Treasury, Defense, and Homeland Security, the attorney general, the head of the CIA, the White House chief of staff, UN ambassador, and more.” All of them were Obama appointees. All of them had been told to toe the party line — that Trump was not an ordinary candidate, but a suspected Putin agent. The only problem with this theory was total lack of evidence.

We live in the 21st century. Contacts and connections between people in different countries are routine.  Words and contacts between the Trump associates and Russia, whether real or invented, could not, even when misinterpreted in the worst possible way, rise to the level of “collusion.” Despite that, by the end of May 2016 the case against Trump was already formed and even escalated to the level of the National Security Council. It had no supporting evidence, but plenty of contradictory facts. And then the DNC contractor Fusion GPS hired Steele. Together, they manufactured the “evidence” — the infamous Steele dossier. CrowdStrike was already hired. (Note the timing: the first CrowdStrike report went out on June 14, and the first Steele report was dated by June 20.) Both DNC contractors would be churning out their reports through December 2016. The rest is history.

Fascist Dems Attempt to Sabotage Trump’s Administration with HATCH ACT!

KELLYANNE CONWAY AND THE HATCH ACT

by Paul Mirengoff  at PowerLine:

Presidential adviser Kellyanne Conway stands accused of violating the Hatch Act. The alleged violations consist mostly of comments Conway made on various news shows disparaging certain Democratic candidates such as Joe Biden, Cory Booker, and Elizabeth Warren.

I very much doubt that the Hatch Act was intended to bar the president’s political advisers from criticizing potential opponents. The Office of Special Counsel (not to be confused with Robert Mueller’s former shop) is the outfit that found Conway guilty of Hatch Act violations and said she should be removed from her job. It describes the purposes of the Act as “to ensure that federal programs are administered in a nonpartisan fashion, to protect federal employees from political coercion in the workplace, and to ensure that federal employees are advanced based on merit and not based on political affiliation.”

Conway is not involved in administering federal programs. Her punditry does not in any way coerce federal employees in the workplace. And it has no bearing on which federal employees will advance.

One of Conway’s important duties is to do media appearances, a demand not placed on presidential advisers in the entirely different media environment of 1939 when the Hatch Act was passed. The notion that during such interviews she can’t talk candidly about the likes of Joe Biden and Cory Booker is goofy. Democracy would be ill-served by such a bar.

A few weeks ago, in response to questions about the Hatch Act implications of her comments, Conway stated: “blah, blah, blah.” President Trump’s response to calls that he fire Conway should be just as dismissive.

Dem Fascist Attack Dogs Finally Wear Out Sarah Sanders

SO LONG, SARAH—WE’LL MISS YOU

by Steven Hayward  at PowerLine:

Sorry to hear that Sarah Sanders is stepping down as Trump’s press spokesperson. I think she has been the best press spokesperson in modern times, as she has the perfect combination of unflappability and contempt for the contemptible press corps. She always treated the press with the mien of a kindergarten teacher angry and disappointed with a bunch of unruly toddlers. But the daily press briefing has outlived its usefulness. It is now mostly a forum for TV personalities like Jim Acosta to preen and prance.

I don’t blame her at all for stepping down now. Being press spokesperson is one of the most demanding and exhausting jobs in the White House, and it is a good idea to step away now before the 2020 re-election campaign begins against in earnest in just a couple months.

I know I posted this once before, but this bit on Sarah may be the best Bad Lip Reading effort ever:
