A word from de Tocqueville

I recently came across the following bit of insight from a Mark Steyn article.  In it he quotes the great 19th century commentator of the American experiment, Alexis de Tocqueville.  As Steyn says in his article, de Tocqueville ‘ knows us far better than we know him’, which is a shame and very much our loss.  In the following passage de Tocqueville’s musings of a possible future for a democracy is proving to be prophetic:

I see an innumerable crowd of like and equal men who revolve on themselves without repose, procuring the small and vulgar pleasures with which they fill their souls.

Over these is elevated an immense, tutelary power, which takes sole charge of assuring their enjoyment and of watching over their fate. It is absolute, attentive to detail, regular, provident, and gentle. It would resemble the paternal power if, like that power, it had as its object to prepare men for manhood, but it seeks, to the contrary, to keep them irrevocably fixed in childhood … it provides for their security, foresees and supplies their needs, guides them in their principal affairs…

The sovereign extends its arms about the society as a whole; it covers its surface with a network of petty regulations—complicated, minute, and uniform—through which even the most original minds and the most vigorous souls know not how to make their way… it does not break wills; it softens them, bends them, and directs them; rarely does it force one to act, but it constantly opposes itself to one’s acting on one’s own … it does not tyrannize, it gets in the way: it curtails, it enervates, it extinguishes, it stupefies, and finally reduces each nation to being nothing more than a herd of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd.

Isn’t The Old America Already Dead?

I think most of us can agree the United States of America has been in cultural free fall since the rise of the Hate America movement, 1968 to present. Prager often bemoans the topsyturvy nature of today, white is black, good is bad, peace is war, Barrack is a thinker, there is no difference between America and the old Soviet Union, between contemporary Christianity and militant Islam, everything is relative. Socialism and Marxism, and equality are in. God and capitalism and liberty are out, and the United Nations is America’s future.

Barrack tells us clearly it is not in America’s interests to have American interests. He is a youngster beyond that. He’s a lad of the world. The old America is dead. We are all now earth’s children. God is dead, but our Earth is alive. May goddess Earth bless us all.

America’s cultural values once so deeply entrenched in the country’s teachings and conversations are now denigrated, ridiculed, and objects for extinction. It took only 40 years to destroy. How did this happen so quickly?

Today General Motors has been absorbed by Obama power. The baritone assures his masses that the absorption into the American political circus was the best of all choices. He states categorically the company will be freed from the imprisonment of political control in five years. He has no intention to micromanage the skeletal remains of the once pride of America. We shall see.

The man is either a liar, is incredibly stupid, being allergic to the lessons of history, or as usual, is singing another of his songs of duplicity.

Strangely, I don’t yet think he is a liar. I agree with Prager that the man is thoroughly in love with what he sings and how he prances. Lord Obama has become self entranced.

The current American cultural war will produce yet another conservative defeat. The collapse of the country’s car manufacturing industry will join the wreckage of the American courts, the American marriage, the American family, the American male, the American educational system, the American media, and the American Church.

The black, feminist, gay, and latina victimhood coalition has America by the throat. Each of these tribes hold that dagger to insure American democracy will join the carnage these tribes have already created…and AT TAX PAYERS’ EXPENSE!…another slight of hand by Barrack Hussein Obama to support the devious, now rich, yet still corrupt ACORN organization; seed money to establish a State Socialism tyranny in America.

There will be a Barrack subsidized ACORN communityist surveying in your neighborhood soon. Be sure to know you are being organized.
