Bill Kristol: No, No, and No to Obama’s Senate Immigration Bill

Kristol To House GOP On Immigration: No Capitulation, No Comprehensive Bill, No Conference

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2013/06/28/kristol_to_house_gop_on_immigration_no_capitulation_no_comprehensive_bill_no_conference.html

BILL KRISTOL: The other consequence of this, I think, is the House. They are in a state, and I think not only are they not going to take up the Senate bill — they may move some small immigration bills of their own focusing on border security and a few other things — but I think they’re now of the attitude, and I agree with this, that they should be careful not to get sucked into some kind of conference for the Senate bill, where it could come back to the House. It would be hard for Boehner not to bring it back up, and then it could pass with a majority of Democrats in the House. I think they’re very wary of falling into some sort of legislative trap where even though a majority of House Republicans don’t want this bill, it could end up being very hard for them to block it.

So, I think you’ll see in the next couple of weeks House Republicans moving to not just not take up the Senate bill, certainly not rubber stamp it or not even take it up, but also try to figure out how to avoid going to conference for the Senate bill. The slogan, “No conference for the Senate bill,” I really think that’s the right thing for House Republicans to do, and I hope they do it.

MICHAEL GRAHAM: Would they be able to offer a counter-proposal to confront the notion that Republicans are just the party of no, they just resist everything? Could they put together a package of border security issues, workplace enforcement and then the possibility that if targets are met that there’d be some legalization of the people who are here without getting themselves into a conference trap?

KRISTOL: Sure, they could pass individual pieces of legislation or knit them together as they wish. That’s not going to be easy. This is a hard problem, and in some cases maybe deciding just to do nothing for now and revisit it in a year or two, but I hope they can pass pieces of legislation. I think the key then is to say, “Look, the Senate should take up this legislation.” The Senate could amend it, the Senate could send it back to us. That’s traditionally the way legislation often gets worked out. But we are not going to let you use as an excuse for going to conference some piece of border security legislation or guest worker legislation or high-tech visa legislation that we pass. Because once they go to conference, the Senate can dominate the conference, the few renegade House Republicans can team with House Democrats to end up with a conference report. Then the speaker’s in the position of is he not going to bring up a conference report? And once it gets to the floor, it can be passed with overwhelmingly Democratic votes in the House. So, it’s a little technical, I guess, as a legislative process matter, but I think it’s very important that House Republicans, on the one hand, put forward their own ideas, absolutely, but on the other hand, take the position: no capitulation to the Senate bill. I’d say no comprehensive legislation in the way comprehensive is being used — 1,200 page bill full of pork and exceptions and waivers and all that. So no capitulation, no comprehensive legislation and no conference with the Senate bill.

Obama to Raid NFL to Push Unpopular ObamaCare Dynasty

Is the NFL Pro-Obamacare?

(Click below to read NFL’s reponse to Obama’s manipulation to force the ‘sale’ of dreaded Obamacare.)

College football fans may soon have another thing to lord over the NFL. [ http://thehill.com/blogs/healthwatch/health-reform-implementation/307373-sebelius-nfl-might-help-promote-obamacare-enrollment ]

The Hill writes, “Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Monday she is in talks with the NFL to help promote new insurance options under ObamaCare.” The report continues, “Sebelius said the football league has been ‘very actively and enthusiastically engaged’ in discussions about a partnership to encourage people to enroll in newly available insurance plans.”

The Obama administration is also trying to — http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/will-obama-use-nba-peddle-obamacare_736822.html — convince the NBA to peddle Obamacare.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/obama_and_democrats_health_care_plan-1130.html#polls ] last 41 polls listed by Real Clear Politics all show Americans opposing Obamacare, usually by double-digit margins. Reflecting the general intensity of opinion, the most recent poll says that more than twice as many people have a “very unfavorable” opinion of Obamacare (38 percent) as a “very favorable” one (16 percent).

Thus, if the NFL decides to help promote Obamacare, it will really have backed a winner — much like when the San Diego Chargers used the second pick in the 1998 draft to tap Ryan Leaf — and it will be yet another reminder that football is best watched on Saturdays.

Barack Hussein Obama, Foreign Authoritarian, not an American Leader

The following article is from the New Jersey leftwing site, NJ.com:

Gov. Chris Christie veered to the right this morning, twice touting himself as a “conservative Republican” and taking a shot at President Obama within the first 10 minutes of a town hall meeting in Sussex County.

Unlike his famous praise of Obama’s leadership during Hurricane Sandy, Christie today said Obama is not an effective leader.

“I know when you look at Washington right now, you shake your head at a president who can’t figure out how to lead, at a Congress that only 11 percent of the people in the last poll I saw approve of the job they’re doing,” Christie told hundreds inside the Vernon Township High School gym.

“That’s what happens when you have someone in the executive office who is more concerned about being right than he is concerned about getting things done,” Christie said. “But I’m not going to be that kind of leader of New Jersey.”

As he seeks re-election, Christie continues to walk a fine line in hopes of winning by a large margin in a blue state in November without alienating the conservative voters he will need if he seeks the GOP nomination for president in 2016.

Christie has repeatedly angered the most conservative wing of his party, but today he made it known how he thinks of himself.

New Jersey voters elected “a conservative Republican governor and a Democratic Legislature,” he said. Minutes later, he noted that although he will sign a budget approved by the Legislature this week, he didn’t get everything he wanted: ‘That’s not bad for a conservative governor in a state like this.”

Gov. Christie asked if he’ll run for President

Gov. Chris Christie was asked by an attendee if he would run for President at a Town Hall in Vernon, NJ, on Friday, June 28, 2013. Gov. Christie said he wanted to finish what he started, but that he would eventually need a new job and he wasn’t ruling anything out.

Christie also made a direct appeal for votes, asking the audience to cast ballots for him and Republican lawmakers who he said favor a tax cut and a government that sticks to its core mission.

“We have an opportunity to really send a message,” he said. ” Which philosophy do you believe in?”

At the end of the event, an audience member asked him if he’s ever thought about running for president. Many of the several hundred people in the audience stood and applauded.

“It’s incredibly flattering and I really appreciate the response,” Christie said, launching into a story that he typically uses to close town halls.

“First thing’s first,” he said, quoting his late mother and biggest influence. “She used to tell me that as a kid because she could tell she had an ambitious kid on her hands. Do the job you have to do and the future will take care of itself.”

Barack Hussein Obama, The Misfit President

Foreigner president Barack Hussein Obama has never demonstrated an understanding of what the core of traditional civil American behavior has been.

He was raised elsewhere under elsewhere conditions and then went to university.

The United States of American is a Christian nation and has been since its founding. Marxist Obama and his atheistic supporters and activists at university and business assume God does not exist…..or certainly not America’s Christian God. Therefore, they posit, we the college educated of atheistic and feminist persuasion bestow upon ourselves the responsibility and authority to take the American Christian God’s place and henceforth direct the activities, health, and culture of the nation’s citizens. They will equality upon the country, will enforce it by whatever means, and then, they claim, the world will become eternally peaceful and loving. The human male and female must be created equal by the authority of Marxism, the new religion.

Neighbor and friend, Arlene Taber sent the following video illustrating the distance between the foreigner president and some facts of history and the present:
